Misconception: Itachi > Jiraiya

Ok...now I'm truly laughin....so you're saying that the same Jiraiya, who brought hell unto Pain wouldn't win against Itachi but I'm seeing a lot of Nagato = Itachi going around....Jiraiya was beating Pains ass....he took on all six of them chumps, killing 1 or 2 of them and the only reason he died was because he was out numbered....NEVER outclassed. For all you Uchiha fanboys out there that think that Jiraiya would fall to Itachi would be sadly mistaken.....The fact that Itachi warned Kisame that Kakashi would kill him, and Jiraiya clearly outclassed Kakashi so in my POV:
Jiraiya > Itachi+Kisame; reason - Look at all the Pains he faced and still held his own, yeah Itachi stated that he could only be equal to him much more or less one of them would die....mainly Itachi. Don't get me wrong, Itachi just so happens to be 1 of the top 5 most strongest shinobi in Narutoverse, but I wouldn't think he'd be any match for Jiraiya, otherwise after checking up on Sasuke like he intended, he would've faced him.

So answer this, If Itachi's abilities were do "Overpowered" Why didn't he just kill Jiraiya when they first met...regardless of plot no jutsu...BEcause I truly don't believe he could've...even with Kisame backing him up....
uhhhhhhh well I'm guessing it was because he was in the middle of the village? I'm for Itachi but I'm not saying it would just be a 1,2,3 ez wtf win. It would proly be challenging and take time and would drain or even harm Itachi, and that isn't really something you would want in the middle of an enemy village. Itachi is strong but he couldn't take on the entire village with the kage, all the ninjas from Guy to Kakashi, and everybody in between. It would just be a dumb move..

Then why run from someone who you KNOW you can beat?? I'm pretty sure if I knew I could fight on par with someone for 5-10 minutes....that backup is gonna be the determination factor.
So what makes you think he can't?? He beat the hell outta the 6 pains....and if he did that to 6....think of what he could do to 2. He quickly figured out that he had to seperate them into a 1-on-1 fight and went wild...I truly don't think Jiraiya would have much difficulty taking out Itachi and Kisame...especially in the shape Itachi was in...
first of all jiraiya was then the strongest shinobi in Konoha.
Itachi was an agent in Akatsuki working for Konoha.
Why would Itachi harm to Konoha by killing him(if they fought one of them would die) or being killed?
besides jiraiya didnt beat 6 paths he just had the potential if he had known the pains secret(pain said)

Itachi wasn't an agent working for Konoha, otherwise he wouldn't be written as a Missing Nin in the Bingo book, Kakashi wouldn't have tried to kill him otherwise, and if it had been the real Itachi, instead of Yuura and his friend, he would have succeeded. Like the others said, he only came to Konoha to let Danzo and the Elders know that he was still alive. Unto Naruto mastered Sage Mode, Jiraiya was still the strongest shinobi in Konoha.
Jiraiya handed out 6 different types of ass-whoopery....Can Itachi contend with those kinds of odds?? Look I'm not gonna turn this into anything less than it is...Jiraiya, had he known the secret of Pain, would still be alive today

Ok dude....you need to go back and re-read....After he commit the slaughter, he went to the 3rd and begged that nothing happen to Sasuke. The 3rd agreed, but AFTER the 3rd died, he knew the kind of person Danzo was....hence the reason why he returned. It was a personal action of his...Not an Akatsuki motive.....it's common sense dude...go back and re-read...what?
itachi was an agent and only danzo 3rd hokage and a few elders knew that.
that's why kakshi attacked and itachi didnt kill him

Itachi never wanted to kill Jiraiya.
Itachi > Jiraiya, as simple as that.
Now you are just making fanfiction. Outnumbered is bad word, since in reality Pain is single shinobi in six bodies. Six full powered paths of Pain >> Jiraiya.

Except according to the character himself, you're wrong and his words supersede yours. Heck, even Pain said Jiraiya would have probably won had he know his secret from the beginning or figured it out more quickly.
I honestly don't get why it's so hard for some of you to get that no matter what you say, if it contradicts what was spoken as the truth in the manga, you're wrong.

Pain didn't begin the fight with all of the paths anyway,one body was even too much for Jiraiya to handle.So yeah if Pain was bloodlusted Jiraiya would lose in no time.
If Pain had begun the battle with all Six Paths, he would have lost the same way his first 3 did: Toad Confrontation Chant. That was the reason he sent in the Pains at separate times, to account for the abilities Jiraiya had that he didn't know about. But still, Pain said Jiraiya may have won had he known about him in the first place so yeah, it's not like it was a sure-fire thing.
