7 gates guy is basically a slower version of v2 Ay. I see no reason why guy would trouble base minato at all, especially since he relies heavily on taijutsu, CQC is a given. And if that happens, he'll get marked.

He's indeed faster than Ay. I always thought Ay was faster but after analyzing his speed against Juubi Madara, I believe he is indeed faster than V2 Ay considering Edo Madara reacted to V2 Ay.

He loses against Minato though.

If that were the case, then kishi would've never written that Ay is the fastest man alive, since Guy is there. Guy didn't do anything to Madara, he tried to hit him and Madara countered all his hits and guy fell to the ground. Edo Madara blocked Ay, but he was still sent flying (Suigetsu has also reacted to Ay, it doesn't mean anything) nor do I remember that being v2 Ay, his hair was super saiyan iirc.

Madara didn't actively react to V2 Ay's Shunshin. Ay Shunshin'd behind him and hit him in the back. Susanoo blocked it because it was already active. The only Ay that Madara blocked was V1 Ay.

That's just kishi being kishi, sometimes there's no logic to his writing, he allowed guy to push Madara back a little even though he shoudlnt have. Minato was gonna stab Ay with a kunai, even though it shouldn't have worked (due to Ay's durability), Gaara's sand didn't protect him from being hit by minato (even though it should have). Oh and my favourite, instead of kishi allowing minato to slash Obitos neck, kishi decides to have minato stab him in the stomach instead. Kishi writes whatever he wants, especially when it comes to speed; in fact speed is the most inconsistent thing in this manga.

Anyway that's not important, kishi revealed 7 gates guy before he revealed that Ay was the fastest man alive. So I'll take kishi's words as fact, over your speculation that an injured guy all of a sudden surpassed Ay in speed.

Ok keep hyping his past record when feats say clearly it's different. The 7G showed no feat at all except Hirudora before Juubi Jin. The so called fastest man wasn't fast enough to make contact with Juubi Madara and you're bringing inconsistency to it? The fact that Gai did better clearly shows he's above Ay. KCM Naruto evaded his super fast punch at full speed. I have no reason to believe he's faster than someone who surprised a Juubi Jin twice with his speed. If you choose to ignore this and use past statements with recent feats debunking it, then do as you please.

base minato wrecks gai.

armless minato was able to hirashin 2 times before 8th gated gai (who's given explicit instructions to just ignore everything and traveling at full speed against Madara) could barely even move. The only reason SM Minato was countered by Madara was because madara was expecting minato to attack him as he saw the kunai, and Minato's attack was a desperation attempt to stop Obito from going to madara's side. If that had not been the situation, minato wouldn't have attacked Madara like that. Gai can do whatever he wants to attack minato, it doesn't matter minato simply dodges it all and uses clones or sets up an opportunity to blindside the non-sensor Gai with an attack that Obito's couldn't even react to with kamui.

I hope that's not in response to me saying 8th gated gai was given explicit instructions to just ignore everything and was traveling at full speed against madara.

That proves that Madara knew Minato was about to attack him from right in front with something and therefore was ready to counterattack minato while Madara didn't know Gai would be using a line-drive shunshin and therefore would have been unprepared.

It also shows that Gai isn't reacting to minato if minato is coming at him from any angle other than the front and if Gai doesn't already know minato is going to warp to the kunai directly in front of him.
