Minato or Itachi ?

itachi for me he sacrificed more than minato his friends, family, lover all to be called a traitor by everyone in the village and he died again rescuing everyone undoing the edo tensei!
No. His clan was dying either way. It was either, a) hey the village can demolish you and your entire clan in war for being traitors and you all can be disgraced for all eternity or b) you can kill them and make their deaths as painless as possible and no one will ever know that they were greedy/against the village and you can take on everything by yourself & be hated as the bad guy when in reality you were the good guy and saved the world from war.
Itachi made the logical choice in pretty much every cirumstance. The problem is that in every cirumstance life threw at him, his choices always sucked and there was always going to be a downfall to them.
ot: Itachi is more of a hero to me than Minato & more interesting as a character, so him.
Well, technically if Itachi were there he would save him as well and probably be more successful than Minato would be. (Uchihas specialize in katon, come on now.) Unless of course, he's plotting an event that would plummet the world into war and cause 1000s to die, but he's not so Itachi would be more than willing to help.
Not really. Minato is a Tobirama v2 except w/ a perfected FTG. Itachi is the only one stated to have kage-level perception at the age of 7, he's the most intelligent in the manga and has better feats. And he didn't really fail that much, considering that Konoha, the world, and Sasuke were safe while he was alive. Sasuke took all of Itachi's techniques, so that would make him an Itachi v2, but that's not really the case either. The only reason Minato's plan didn't fail was because Itachi continuously kept Naruto and the rest of Konoha safe throughout the series. It looks like you confused Minato with Itachi to be totally honest, but Minato's not that much of a failure either.

Nah. Minato has failed to protect his son throughout the series (he's been dead, so it's understandable) and didn't really have to die. He could have sealed Kurama back into Kushina and they both would have lived, too bad that he didn't know that. Naruto has had to be saved by Tobirama, Hiruzen, Itachi, etc. Minato's plan was literally "I'll seal this demon in my son and hopefully he'll become a village hero somehow". That was literally all and that shows the level of his intellect. But then again, there wasn't much he could do given the stressful situation at hand.
Itachi made an intricate plan that worked entirely until after the moment he died. He protected Konoha, Naruto (minato's son), Sasuke, and the rest of the shinobi world. He saved them all from war, and even from the grave as an edo stopped the edo tensei and cut down the enemy to two people, Obito and Madara. He was assigned to capture Naruto, but purposely failed his mission, thus sparing Naruto. He didn't really fail even now. When he said that, he just proved even more to not be a fail and instead an incredibly humble shinobi, one of the few we have in this manga. He Tnj'd Naruto and knows that he can help Sasuke. He even Tnj'd Sasuke which led him to join the alliance after getting another tnj from Hashirama. He succeeded even w/ Sasuke, just not the way he expected. Not really a fail at all imo.

3- Lol, Minato was stated to be a genius once in generation. Also, what's itachi's better feats exactly? I must have missed that part. :erm:

Or when kakuzu and Hidan attacked them as well? Yeah, surely konoha survived, but it also surely not thanks to itachi. Lol
5- Lol, sorry, but what you said is just utter bull0sh!t. When did itachi EVER protected Naruto? You must confused itachi with Jiraiya.
what itachi did
1- Went to konoha, attacked kakashi and Kurnai
2- tried to kidnap Naruto had it not been for Jiraiya saving him.
3- HE TOLD SASUKE TO KILL HIS BEST FRIEND (Naruto).
4- He stopped in Konoha's face, so the akatsuki can get the 1tail from Gaara.
5- He failed to save his clan.
6- he was the reason that Deidara became one of the Akatsuki,
7- He faild to stop the ET (everyone was defeated or sealed, except madara who freed himself because of itachi)
8- Despite he is supposedly a spy for konoha, he has never given them any information at all.
I failed to see where did he save Naruto and konoha!
Minato on the other hand.
1- He saved konoha in the 3rd war and make them win the war.
2- he saved Kushina, Kurama's host, when he was like 10. Or the cloud whould have had Kurama.
3- He saved the village from Kurama and obito
4- He saved Naruto and Konoha when he resealed Kurama during the Pain Arc
5- He saved the entire shinobi kind at least twice this war
...etc
please, there is no Comparison between them.

2. Very well then. Just like Minato is a Tobirama v2, then Itachi is a Sasuke v2.
3. He was trying to sell of the whole "I'm a bad guy facade". Sasuke didn't even know who Naruto was at that point, nor did he have a best friend, which is why there wasn't really any harm in saying that at the time. Also, people do the opposite of the people they hate. The only reason Sasuke didn't kill Naruto back at the Valley of the End was because he remembered Itachi's words, and he despises Itachi. Reverse-psychology won here.
4. Hiruzen sent him to be a double-agent for Akatsuki. What would they have done if he said no? It would have blown his cover and they would have sent another Akatsuki to go and stop them. Naruto's group was actually lucky that Itachi was sent to them, considering that he didn't want to hurt them at all and only evaded their attacks. If that had been any other Akatsuki member, they would have been done for.
5. He was 13, negotiations failed, Fugaku was stubborn and misguided, Hiruzen was too lenient, and Danzo was a jerk. He even gave a speech which was shown in pt1 that essentially told that he wasn't for the coup, but his father didn't care and gave up on him. He had no choice and the situation was hopeless. He saved more lives and the Uchiha were done either way. Madara who was well into his 30s failed to save his brother and his clan, how is a 13 year old going to save a clan that is even more hate-filled than Madara's due to the years of tension that have gone by between Konoha and the Uchiha?
6. That's a terrible reason. Kisame was about to rip Deidara apart and force him to join anyway, Deidara didn't even have an option. Itachi just stopped a fight from ensuing.
7. He didn't even know who Madara was. How is that a failure? That's like saying Minato is a fail because he could have saved both himself and Kushina and Naruto would have been a better ninja due to having a family and better training, but Minato didn't know that Kushina would live if he resealed Kurama into her. Neither failed.
Itachi wasn't even there to kidnap Naruto, the manga confirmed that. He was there to make sure that Danzo would hear of his presence and that Sasuke would be safe from him. It worked. Itachi continuously made excuses throughout that trip, Itachi could have turned around and amaterasu'd Jiraiya instead of the wall, he is no match for Itachi. Itachi was assigned to capture Naruto and he knew how to get into Konoha anytime he wanted. If he wanted Naruto, he would have taken him. But he didn't and therefore Naruto was spared from Akatsuki's wrath while he was alive. He also saved both Naruto and Bee from Edo Nagato.
They were safe when he protected them from a world war and when he made sure their jinchurikki wasn't captured. He cannot save them from everything, Hiruzen didn't want to kill Oro when he had several chances to do so and as a result Konoha suffered, not really Itachi's fault. Kakazu and hidan? If Itachi stopped him he would blow his cover and all the Akatsuki would gang up on him. He's be done for.
Itachi had better intelligence feats when he planned out his entire life as a 13 year old whereas Minato just sealed a demon into his son and called it a day.
No. U_U 4 year old Itachi said that he would protect baby Sasuke no matter what. That and the Uchiha compound was pretty far away from the Kyuubi attack. He would get away in time.
I'm just kidding. That's true. The village would have been done for if not for Minato's sacrifice but it also would have been done for w/o Itachi's sacrifice. They're both respectful shinobi.
On this point, once again he wasn't there for trouble. He wanted Danzo to hear of his presence so he would remember their deal. He wanted to be seen, because he knew that his presence would be reported, but he had no intentions for combat. He even warned Kurenai and Asuma twice and told them that he didn't want to fight. They started the fight and tried to attack first. Then Kakashi showed up and Itachi warned him as well. Kakashi ignored that and tried to attack Itachi. Who's fault is it really here? The Konoha jonins. Itachi even told Kisame that they should leave before it could escalate any further, Kisame and Itachi would have slaughtered them if he hadn't.

You realise that minato knew his son would be the child of prophecy right? Hence why he sealed the Kurama within Naruto, knowing he'd one day learn to use that power and defeat the "masked man" one day. He didn't just take an idiotic gamble, he believed in his son, he even had a contingency plan for incase Naruto lost control, he sealed a portion of his chakra within Naruto to stop that happening. Then he sealed some of kishinas chakra in Naruto to help him when the day comes that he'd need to learn how to control the nine tails chakra. Again good planning and intelligence from minato. If you think minato just carelessly sealed away a tailed beast within his son without thinking it through, then you are incredibly naive. He even left the key to Narutos seal I'm Jirayas hands knowing Naruto would need it in the future.
Also it's not his fault for not knowing to seal Kurama back inside Kushina, only a tailed beast could have known. And if minato didn't leave ebbing a Jinchuuriki, then the balance of power would have been jeopardised and konoha would have become weaker.
So far everything minato has done for Naruto has paid off. So thanks to minato, the ninja alliance and ninja world are reaping the benefits of Minatos actions. The guy that was praised as a once in a generation genius was not stupid.
