Kisame fairly easily if neither of them have their special abilities. Remember that even before Kisame got Samehada he was under the direct command of the 4th mizukage and managed to kill the previous owner of Samehada.

And Kisame still has all of his water jutsus and his amazing chakra level.

umm i'd go with kisame...even without samehada his water jutsu's are very powerfull..that water bubble trap+sharks..guy would be in a lot of trouble

yeah i agree too, guy needs to get up close to fight kisame, but you have to know that he has the best stamina ever since he trained with the gates, and kisame relies on samehada for stamina.

Overpowered to take down and give a fight to the most powerful shinobi? Yes.
Practical? No.
I mean just look at how he was after the 7th gate, he can't do that frequently. 8th gate will probably do little damage on the resurrected Madara, not much harm though if it isn't consistent. 8th gate is more like a last resort gamble when the opponent is just way overpowered and you want to leave the world with a bang.

IMO if you just look over the details of both opponents and then compare them to someone who could obviously take them on 1-1 or at least make a gd fight.

well, minato graduated at age 10 and he's more powerful than any of those, naruto and sasuke graduated at 12 and they're also more powerful than guy.

kisame beat the four-tails and destroyed bee also, he can beat anyone in the akatsuki apart from itachi and pain imo

Kisame also has formidable water ninjutsu, but if he is not fast enough, he wont be able to hurt guy. Kisames ninjutsu is primarily used to drain his opponents chakra and increase his own reserves. Since taijutsu uses little to no chakra, his techniques are nearly useless aginst guy. Guy is also said to have large chakra reserves himself, although not as much as kisames, so he could last in an enurance battle. When Guy uses the gates, it only increases the overall flow of chakra within the body and therefore not enough for kisame to completely drain all at once.

Yup, i agree with this too, kisame would need time to prepare his large scaled attacks, while thats happening, guy would take advantage.

Well sir you are wrong about quite a few things. Kisame was said to be immensely strong. And he is also very fast, base speed and strength he is at the very least equal to Guy but most likely he is stronger than him. (Go the Kisame vs. Asuma fight where Asuma marvels at Kisame's strength)

I agree that Guy would likely beat Kisame most of the time, because extreme speed and taijutsu is the best counter for Kisame. As it was Guy was the perfect person to beat Kisame but had Kisame had intel and Samehada then it might have been a completely different story.

Their strength may be the same, but Guy's speed is actually greater than his as stated by the third databook where Kisames speed is 4 and Guys is 5.

Correction, a taijutsu user may use chakra to enhance their attacks, however, Guy never really uses chakra to enhance his attacks and the same can be said for Lee since he is unable to utilise chakra in the first place. The gates only increase the overall flow of chakra in the body and, therefore, augments their strength and speed. It doesn't waste chakra so much as it destroys the body in the process as that is the main drawback of using the gate.

Guy can last in an endurance battle without using the gates. His body is very durable due to his ridiculously vigorous training. He is also one of the few mentioned to have unusually large chakra reserves, although not as much as the few you have mentioned.

Kisame did have intel on Guy since he had fought before in the past. He also had samehada when they fought in the rescue the kazekage arc.

Out of all the techniques mentioned in this forum, i feel that the eight gates is one of the most powerful but most underlooked techniques in the narutoverse.

But lets get to the topic at hand

I wanted to know if guy would ever open the gate of death, he has already opened all the gates up to the gate of wonder (which we saw the strongest taijutsu attack so far, the Daytime Tiger) and his power was so great that he absolutely dominated kisame, and kisame had no choice but to marvel in his power. If this is the power from the 7th gate, what would we see from the 8th gate ? Naruto wiki quotes that the gates grant you power greater than a kage, would that mean he would be stronger than.... ohh idk, the 3rd raikage.

So what do you think ?
Will Guy become the ultimate shinobi ?

P.S: kindr sad that once he uses the 8th gate, he dies shortly after

this was said by gai right gain powers grater than a kaga but he said hokaga and this was in the era of the 3rd so it would make you stronger than one of the strongest naruto guys ever
