A slight smile spreads across his lips as the stranger makes his most arrogant declaration yet. Although to his credit, he did refrain from calling himself a god. That must have taken a lot of self-restraint. "His armoury is nearby, located near the Port of Innovus." Dantes takes another sip of his wine, his cup nearly empty.
Gilgamesh finished the remainder of his wine and placed the cup on the bench and as he did so it would fade into a gold like mist, returning it to the throne. He stood up from his chair and looked toward Dantes.

Then shall we get going.

Gilgamesh finished the remainder of his wine and placed the cup on the bench and as he did so it would fade into a gold like mist, returning it to the throne. He stood up from his chair and looked toward Dantes.

Then shall we get going.
Having emptied his glass of its contents, it disperses into gold mist as the King of Heroes returns each goblet and the decanter to the Throne. A similar change can be observed of Dantes' coffee mug, disappearing in a flash of green and black energy. Rising from his chair, the Count turns towards the exit and responds to Gilgamesh as they begin to leave.

"We shall."

This post marks the spawning of my biography Chise Hatori into the NW, as well the beginning of a mission using the following storyboard element(s):
  • Revisit the Last Bastion and reflect (custom, D-rank)
  • Meet the citizens that survived the raid of the Underworld (custom, D-rank)
  • Learn of Marzan's Armory for the first time (custom, D-rank)
Summary: It had been quite awhile since the mass rise of the Undead into the world of the living had raided the Last Bastion and shook it to its very core. Now, it has had time to recover and mend the wounds left behind from such a catastrophe, but now leaves lingering scars. Chise, one of many who had come to the assistance of the Bastion returns once again for the first time since, reliving the events that had transpired that day.

Months had passed since the events that reduced the Last Bastion to nearly barely more than a graveyard riddled in the rubble of it's former glory. The arrival of the armies of the undead, clashing against the defense of the Bastion itself, served as a breeding ground for much devastation that scarred the very earth surrounding the city. Upon arriving in the region of the Bastion, staring upon the walls, the red-headed girl took account of her surroundings in a degree of familiarity. That's right, Chise had been here once before. The very walls she looked upon now were rebuilt with considerable stone masonry, but also reinforced in the roots and trees that had been produced by her wood technique the day the raid had taken place in an effort to keep the walls up against the assault. It brought an air of pride to her, a shimmer reflected in her emerald eyes as she recognized they chose to keep the roots she had used incorporated in the reconstruction effort. Though no one might know her to be the one that made them, thus she had no means to claim the glory for such a thing, she knew what role she played that day, and that was enough for her.

While she had other tasks that needed done, Chise couldn't help but reflect on past events. This was one of her first real missions; one of the first that challenged her beyond her limits and demanded focus and commitment of the likes she had never thought possible of herself. In a way, it served as the pinnacle turning point for her growth as not only a ninja, but a person as well. While it was indeed a tragedy that she wished hadn't happened, there needed to be some modicum of optimism that could be taken from such things. Otherwise, the world would only ever truly be bleak and drowned in despair. A worldview she was all too familiar with...

"Should we go inside?" a voice called out from seemingly nowhere; an echo in the air that traveled to the ears of Chise herself. Despite the uncertainty of the voice's origin, Chise wasn't perturbed in the least. Instead, she only offered up a response, after a brief delay for her to seemingly dwell in her own thoughts, as if contemplating her options. "Mhm.. I want to see that something worthwhile could come from such tragedy.." With that, Chise's shadow had begun to seemingly vibrate upon the ground, only to slowly lift from the ground entirely, giving form to a black form that steadily shaped into that of a canine figure. Ruth, Chise's personal companion, had now taken shape beside her after having emerged from her shadow, a place he would occasionally dwell in an effort to rest or stay out of sight as needed. Once fully emerged, Ruth had nudged himself against Chise's side before taking his place beside her, looking up toward her. "I'm with you, like always."

Type: Supplementary
Rank: B-rank
Range: Short
Chakra: 20 (-5 per turn)
Damage: N/A
Description: Henkan ni Jin'ei is a defining technique that indicates the true spiritual origins of the Church Grim, as well the spiritual bond that they share with their summoner. Through the application of the necessary Chakra, a Church Grim is capable of manipulating the very makeup of their form that, upon rushing to the side of their summoner and lunging into their shadow, they are capable of changing themselves into a phantasmal state of being that, like a wisp of blackness, submerge themselves into the earth that is directly outlined by the shadow of their summoner, allowing for them to move relative to the summoner's shadow as the effective boundary without need for additional effort on their part. While in this state, the Grim is capable of communicating telepathically with the summoner as per usual by way of their spiritual bond with them, but are incapable of interacting with the material world or use techniques until they disperse this technique or it times out. Because of the natural of this technique relying on the outline of the summoner's shadow, it is possible for the Grim to be forced out of this state of submergence by removing the shadow entirely in any logical sense, such as the summoner leaving the ground and being airborne more than 10 meters high, submerging themselves into the ground or other solid substance, or by removing all source of light that would produce a shadow.

Notes:
-This technique once used lasts for a maximum of 3 turns.
-Outside of combat, this technique can last indefinitely, and costs no Chakra.
-If the shadow of the summoner is removed entirely inadvertently, the Grim will be forced out of the shadow and return, being incapable of using any Chakra-based techniques the same turn.
-Can be used in the shadow of both the original summoner and any of their clones.

As Chise and Ruth began to walk down the streets of the city, they both made an effort to take in their surroundings. With every street they walked along, many stalls, passerby's and other typical things that would be associated with a standard daily life and bustling of a city such as the Bastion would cross their attention. It was.. reassuring. While there were many new people that had migrated to the city after the raid in an effort to repopulate the area and continue producing as a means to maintain its functional economy, there were still people that lived through that day there as well. All people that lost more than any person should ever have to, yet they find ways to make strides toward doing what they can with what they had left.

After some time of wandering, an elderly man had passed a glance toward Chise, who seemed to take a moment to recognize who she was, but only a moment was needed. Her red hair, green eyes, and trusty companion at her side were all dead giveaways to her identity. Without hesitation, the man approached Chise, waving for her attention before he caught up to her and smiled. "You don't know me, but you're the lass that saved my daughter. She spoke of you in considerable detail.. to this day she still tells stories of how you saved her. I never thought I'd have the chance to meet you, but with all my heart, thank you for what you did.." Chise had paused to listen to the man, yet when he spoke about her saving his daughter, specifically, Chise was puzzled for a moment. Then, it hit her. A woman was running out of the city at the time of the raid when Chise arrived to the region, fleeing the army of the dead and had nearly fell prey to them because a greedy, heartless man had tripped her as a means to give him as much of an advantage to get away himself. Chise had intervened as a means to save the woman, as well detain the man for his attempted murder of the girl. Chise had lit up the moment she remembered, her eyes growing wide as the pieces fell together, now recognizing the familiarity the man had to the woman he called his daughter. "o-Oh..! I didn't think.. she would have remembered me, but I'm so glad to hear she and her family lived." The man smiled in kind, offering a slight nod to her in affirmation. Crossing his arms loosely behind him, the man looked around only briefly before looking back to Chise. "So what brings a young ninja like yourself around these parts? Here for Marzan, I take it?" Chise blinked, hearing a name she had heard whispered now and again since she had gotten to the city. She wasn't there for the person called Marzan, yet now she couldn't help but be curious. "Not specifically, no.. Who is this Marzan, anyway?" The elder lifted an eyebrow in subtle surprise at her query. Truly, she hadn't heard of Marzan? A surprise for someone in her line of work, especially these days. "Hard to believe you hadn't heard of him 'till now. Marzan is a great master Blacksmith that resides in his armory just North-West of here. He is a man of many merits, but namely, he has begun to produce something known as a God Slaying Tool to those that go to him in an effort to acquire one; mostly folk like yourself. Of course he presents them with the materials that are necessary to make them and tasks them with getting it all together, but he does all the craftwork himself. He aims to give us mortals a fighting chance against this age of Gods." Chise listened attentively, taking mental note of where the man had said she could find the armory. "I see.. that's very good to know. I think I'll pay this Marzan a visit. Thank you very much for telling me. Please, take good care of yourself. And tell your daughter the same for me." The man nodded with a modest smile upon his face, waving goodbye to Chise as she began to leave the city once again, now heading in the direction she had been told, toward Marzan.

Arriving from Here.

This message marks the beginning of my mission using the following storyboard element(s):
  • Discover, investigate and use the Teleporters for the first time (custom; D-Rank)
Summary: While Chise had been away from the active front of the world for the past few months, she had been made aware of the new and life-changing technology that was installed within each of the Markets scattered throughout the known world. While she was not only curious about the design and mechanics of such a thing, she also aimed to take advantage of them for the first time.

Upon returning from her visit to the armory of Marzan, Chise had heard of a new means of travel within the world, that of the recently installed teleportation waygates that served as a connected highway between all marketplaces within the known world. The one responsible for such a creation was none other than the renowned -and infamous- Spider; a information broker that "dabbled" in copious dealings and ambitious endeavors that always seemed to solely benefit his enterprise. While Chise hadn't the opportunity to meet him herself, she didn't need to in order to hear plenty of him and his exploits, thus leaving her at a position capable of maintaining distance from such a shady figure until absolutely necessary..

Once within the Bastion once again, Chise made it her objective to seek out the teleporter she had heard of. Given it was a new, fascinating bit of technology that was taking the world by storm, it wasn't difficult to pinpoint it's location within the city. Whether by signs, crowds or gossip, it didn't take long before she found herself standing before the Waygate; scanning its every detail as a means to not only find key details to help her remember them, but also to settle her own curiosities and fascinations of the device.

While she wasn't entirely a scholar or inventor by any definition, Chise was a studious girl, so such leaps in science couldn't help but draw her full attention. Shifting upon her feet, Chise slowly began to approach the gate, steadily investigating each curve and mechanical feature it was built of. The geometry of the device was striking to the say the least; spinning parts and sleek metals that made it all but impossible to miss from quite a distance away, no doubt. Passing a glance over one shoulder, then the other, Chise made it a point to ensure no one would take particular issue with her "snooping about," before she approached closer, passing a gentle touch across the Waygate's structure, feeling each subtle, near-seamless plated curve that she could reach. "It seems almost entirely self-sufficient.. Solar? Mm, not likely.. or possibly even chakra-based..? It would still require some kind of reservoir or supplier as a source.. The Earth produces its own natural chakras, so perhaps it harnesses something like the Ryūmyaku leylines in order to produce the necessary power to perform something akin to space-time manipulation techniques. Such natural sources would allow for a seemingly infinite energy supply, but for how it goes about making the teleportation.. Possibly particle acceleration and displacement? Maybe it is something like a jutsu. It could operate based on a Fūinjutsu seal containing a teleportation technique, meant to trigger when a foreign chakra source is presented to it as the means of activation.." Chise seemed to mumble on to herself, thinking aloud along each detail she seemed to process in an effort to better understand the device in front of her. After a few moments, Ruth had called to her from within her shadow, telepathically. "I hate to rush you, but I think it might be a good idea to forego the field trip study and continue on with our task. Marzan is waiting, after all." Blinking, Chise had snapped out of her focused haze, taking a couple of steps back before making one last full glance at the Waygate, nodding steadily in agreeance to Ruth's reasoning. "You're right, sorry. It's not like they are going anywhere. I can always look another time."

With her personal curiosities at least expressed in some small way, giving her enough to think about and consider for the new technology at play within the world, Chise opted to approach the central standing plate of the device, which one might only assume was the designated space for where someone should stand to active it. After a brief delay, accompanied by a slow scanning glance above her head at the Waygate, Chise considered the possibilities of how to go about activating it. Was she meant to surge her chakra to make it recognize she was there, or possibly she had to have some sort of object to help her pass through it? Or maybe it was simpler..? "u-Uhm.. Ahem. k-Keishi Market in the Land of Fire..! Uhm, please..?" While it was plainly awkward to talk like she had just done to what one could reasonably assume was nothing but an inanimate object, Chise couldn't help but find herself surprised at the sudden reaction that came as a result. Sure enough, whether by the mere introduction of her intended destination by thought or voice command, the teleporter began to react to her as intended; all parts moving and shifting as intended around her standing position. As they began to move faster and faster with every passing moment, Chise began to feel somethin akin to a static charge coursing through her every pore; her fingertips tingling, legs beginning to feel weightless, all while a light began to rapidly surge around her. Closing her eyes, Chise clenched her fingers tightly into her palms, the tension of her body reflecting her uncertainty in the success of the device's intended purpose. After a brief delay following a series of mechanical humming, a burst of light was the last reactive effect to transpire before the Waygate would begin returning to its original idling state. Chise was no longer visible where she once stood, implying it worked as intended, now working to transport her instantaneously to the designated location she intended to go.

After emerging in a flash of light from the teleporter situated in the center of the Bastion market, Chise had made her way down the familiar path toward the outskirts of the region, heading North.

Coming From: Siren's Lair (210)

Arriving at their destination, Sirris lifts her stealth, seemingly appearing in the middle of the marketplace. This sent quite a number of people scrambling as the large wolf suddenly revealed herself, and what would be even stranger for them to see was Kōtetsu unmerging from her body. On their way here he'd thought of his next course of action. It was clear that medical ninjutsu did nothing to alleviate the affliction racking his body, and he needed to find help fast. The last time he was in such a state, when he had the red fever, he'd gone to Tsumigakure and came across a powerful medical shinobi by the name of Skarlet.

Together, they were able to discern a number of things about the sickness, even if they weren't able to outright find the cure. That achievement went to Iskandrous, the Divine Physician of Tsumigakure. His profession alone meant he would be easy to find, but the Inuzuka wasn't sure how much help he'd be. Nevertheless, there were no other options. With Sirris by his side, he made his way to the center of the marketplace where he found the newly constructed teleportation array. He'd heard that they connected each marketplace throughout the world, vastly reducing the time it took to travel long distances. For the first time, Kōtetsu and his ninken step into the gate.

Arriving from Here.

With a steady stride of newfound confidence and the excitement to see a new land for the first time, Chise makes for the portal within Bastion, where she aimed to utilize its unique function to transport her to the recently explored region of the Outer Lands, specifically the Beachhead. There, she would be one step closer to discovering what had been going on within the world while she had been away.

After having left the armoury of Marzan, the debate have mainly been revolving around the fact, that Amaimon was dead certain that they were walking the wrong way. Amidamaru however had been assuring him, that it was possible to be teleported from one place to another, within the markets. The Katsuryoku gave him the benefit of the doubt, but not without further complaints, and if it wasn't working, he would definately be handing the Genki some spiritual beatings.

Alas, in favour of Amidamaru, the teleporter was there, and it actually worked. Much praise wasn't leaked from Amaimons teeth. Soon enough they both entered the portal, and left the scene.
