Well no sh*t. He used HxH as a template for Naruto part 1, sadly part 1 of Naruto was better than shippuden.

And Togashi used DBZ as a template for Yu Yu Hakusho.

The pilot for Naruto came out before HunterxHunter.

@Op, I don't believe he's a horrible writer, though I do believe he went up and down a few times in part 2. Furthermore, I believe his editors and publishers forced him to do shit he didn't want, like change and rush the ending so they could make big bucks off another movie and a part 3 after he said several times he wanted to end it with part 2. An excellent example of this would be Hidan. He was supposed to be a bukijutsu expert like Shurado and Sasori with mystic weapons and techniques, a backstory and an epic fight, but it was cut short because Kishimoto says "he was out of time." Lol more like out of Jump's patience to get to the Itach pursuit arc to make the big ones.

He's a successful mangaka no doubt, but not the best out there. He did a pretty neat job till the war arc. Wether you want to be biased about this or not, but the war arc sucked crap.

You don't have a case to call it plagiarism and you're biased towards both series so I wouldn't exactly say you're in the position to be doing so, at least not objectively. Kishimoto studied under Togashi. Guess that automatically makes him a plagiarist, right!? Oh wait, Togashi personally gave him ideas.

If you want to make character and plot parallels however, by all means, be my guest. Though I could make a faaar more accurate parallel between DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho.

And these very animes also make people hate the manga when they keep overusing stupid tropes which manga uses much less.

As for fan fiction - if the writers were that good they would be writing original stories and creating their own verse. It's like saying a guy who downloads an original work by some other artists and adds a few filters on a a 300*150 size section of it to make an ava, is better than the original artist.

The anime gave Sakura more than one fight and background. Unlike the manga.

Good for you I suppose. The real question here is, is a writer obligated to elaborate on a character further than needed for his story? What's his aim with the story and where he does want to take it?

One can go on detailing every side story to find what was behind that one closed door among 7 or why that random old lady in the corner was not happy, but then what you get is a never ending saga of Arabian tales of 1000 nights. Naruto on the other hand was meant to end at one point.

If the so called part 1 was good because of his editor then the credit for part to goes to the editors again whether it's good or bad.

There can be many paralels between chimera arc and Cell saga too. But that's not the point. And no Kishi never "studied" under Togashi. That's a misconception. Corazan linked the interview sometime back with details. Based on that interview:

He met him twice once in a jump festa and once he met at his home where they discussed like two professionals . Togashi being senior showed him his atr techs etc. Kishi used the honorific Sensei because he was senior. Readers call Oda, Oda Sensei, copying Japanese style doesn't mean he has personal students all over the globe.

He most probably did pick chunnin exma lay out. But both exams are written differently and go in different directions. The feeling of the verse, story and plot treatment are different. so yeah the similarities are superficial.

Probably for the same reason H x H fans get so angry when they are reminded the inconsistent art in the manga Or when someone compares his drawing with Mashima,
and hiatus status or Killua's questionable priorities and utter disregard for high number of mindless collateral deaths etc.

Kishi's writing started to plummet during the war arc. He probably got lazy and tired and decided to say "screw it" and make it work.
