Tough call. . I can't really make an accurate or. . Factual reason for both. Seeing as how I am not expert nor do I have much knowledge on either. I'd say, if Jiraiya can make it to Sage Mode he can with; 'Specially with the Frog Song.

that takes prep. Kakuzu have 5 seprate hearts to prevent that and he has Itachi for assistance. Well at least for that one time

Jiraiya wins, he is out of his league, Kakuzu can't handle boss summons plus he won't be able to activate domu while he's under the effect of frog song.

Jiraiya mid diff at best. Anyone who says otherwise is delusional.

yes pain lured jiraiya and was waiting for him (it didn't just happen lol), don't know if you are serious about this ...... and yes am CERTAIN (not thinking) that base jiraiya can handle kakuzu (with his summons and big arsenal). PAIN wanted to take on jiraiya PERSONALLY (the strongest shinobi in the leaf at that time, check it out/follow the events) so he can make his move and capture the kyuubi/attack the leaf.

and don't get me wrong, i LOVE kakuzu.

Jiraiya is not getting time to go into SM with 4 People coming at him , His summons get destroyed by Kakuzu's raiton that can pierce right through them, Meanwhile his wind style can knock Jiraiya off when he is prepping SM on top of a summon

lol i read/watched the series and the pain attack was my favorite part. explain/prove this to me, and please don't forget the reception jiraiya received from KONAN then nagato, why nagato chose that formation (the three pains without the reviver) and why nagato specifically chose to attack the leaf after he killed jiraiya. am waiting for the explanation .......

Yeah but he has a shield in top of that which could defend against most of his jutsus. Plus the masks dont really stand a chance against a boss summon, his weapon would literally obliterate them.

Lol first off The summons have already shown that its hard for them to deal with small people on there own

can't one simply concentrate their chakra towards their feet and walk on top of it, as they do with water?! I don't see why not, especially since this jutsu has only been used against snakes.
