Haven't seen enough of what Mei is really capable of, so going with kakashi for now. Lava and acid attacks can be neutralized by water wall, and he seems better in close combat. Don't know enough about Mei's other techs.

Mei with NO difficulty if MS is restricted. May is WAY better at ninjutsu, she has overalll mastered five elements (earth, water, fire, lava, and boil) sed to Kakashi's three. Taijutsu is not a factor, Kakashi wont bypass the corrosive mist that melted susano'o, he has no defense against that, he wont even get close to her. Lava is superior to any mid/long range jutsu kakashi has shown and she created water out of the atmosphere to counter Madara's great fire annilation when he used it against tsunade.

Nothing like being able to spew molten rock from your mouth, have it solidify rapidly and fill a room with acidic mist.

Sure, Kakashi's lightning nature does have it's perks in this fight, bearing that one of Mei's natures is Earth. But, that being said, she also has a greater effect on the battle field, being able to change the topography to suit her needs.

Now, her standard techs, the fire,water, and earth ones will be susceptible to Kakashi's Copy, but it will depend on his ability to use them. Remember, Sharingan, and MS even more so, amount to a HUGE drain on Kakashi's chakra. It does give him an edge, but it also forces him try to end fights quicker. If he can't get the first Kamui off, chance are he won't try it again. In a fast-paced, long range ninjutsu battle, he can't risk wasting more than he can.

Now, we haven't seen any real fighting done by Mei save for the bout with Sasuke, leaving a big information hole. However, it can be assumed based on her title as Mizukage that she is the strongest and smartest(best fit to rule) from the Hidden Rain. Kakashi has been offered the position, but only after the 5th Hokage was in a coma, and the "6th" Hokage, the Leader of ROOT Danzo, had been killed by Susuke. His appointment was more of an attempt to fill a power-vacuum left in the Hidden Leaf.

So there it is. There is my personal explanation as to why I feel Mei would win in an actual fight between the two of them. No Plot-no-Jutsu, no Insta-kill Kamui snipe from across the field, a true fight between shinobi.

Kakashi high difficulty. Mei would have to put up with his Sharingan, that includes Genjutsu, Kamui, AND his copycat skill. It would be close, but I've got Kakashi coming out on top.

THIS!!...Honestly what I was going to say, would add some more. but eh.

More knowledge is not needed about her elements.

Yamato has stated when training naruto that to combine elements you have to be very good at using them.

It's really common sense, how the hell would you combine to make something if you cant use it in the first place?

Kakashi would be a very good fight, therefore I am saying that he would land some hits, but nothing major. By that I mean he can copy her reg elemental techs, at the cost of him running out of chakra fast. He isn't know for a great chakra reserve.

I really can't think of any jutsu that he could use that could not be countered in some way.

As for the people saying lava is a short range jutsu only, you're wrong.
Almost every lava tech shown has been mid-range. But who's to say it can't go further?

I would say someone who can counter one of the strongest fire techs (which a smaller version took 10+ ninjas to take out) instantly with only a few hand signs is on par with the strongest water master (supposedly tobirama). Not to mention she, again, used the same amount of hand signs to use Water dragon ( 40 hand sign tech.)

He has no counter for acid mist, which would pretty much kill him in a matter of seconds.

He could probably withstand hits from the elemental attacks, cause he's tough shit. XD But there is really no counter for her Kekkei Genkai...If he's hit with lava it's all over, maybe he could make a earth wall or something?

My idea of how to get out of kamui is to simply move around, or make a barrier between the two.

When has he been shown using a genjutsu that's not easily overcome? As for copy...can be countered, as shown before.

Kakashi for the simple fact that Mei is a slow fighter. In the fights we've seen her in, she doesn't move too much.

Mei's "turning a room acidic" won't work if the fight takes place where Sasuke fought Deidara. Read the thread :|

This^ Kakashi wins low difficulty for me. Mei is weak. Not even capable to fight black Zetsu during one day long with a huge team of jounins by her side

I dont know if you noticed , but we never saw mei actually fight black zetsu. All we saw was chojuro cut him down.

-I see both Kakashi and Mei as equals IMO. But in a match up I would say Kakashi b/c we know more about him.
-In ninjutsu you can say they are more or less equal... Mei might have a small upper hand on him but barely.
-In taijutsu Kakashi has it, If he gets in close to do some hand to hand combat idk how Mei can go against that. Plus it seems as Kakashi is quicker than her.
-Intelligence wise we have seen more of Kakashi than Mei to judge them. But I'm giving it to Kakashi. I understand Mei is a Kage, but still Kakashi has shown his knowledge plenty of times to give him the upper hand.

All in all I say Kakashi has this one hard difficulty. But a win is a win

I totally agree man, I think kakashi's flexibility with his ninjutsu and his ocular powers with his MS and 3T sharingan might be equal to mei's 2 KGs. just my opinion though
