He had nothing set in motion. Obito did EVERYTHING, and would have completed everything had he not second guessed himself. By the time madara actually did somthing to effect the plot (coming back to life) the overused "man behind the man" trope got old. Hence why he got replaced near instantly by kaguya.

Killing main=/= good character, and the main's didn't die.

He didn't progress the plot tho, and only has 1 villainous act under his belt.

He didn't form the akatsuki.
He didn't have anything to do with the massacre (what shaped sasuke life)
or the 9 tails accident (what shaped naruto's life)
he had nothing to do with the akatsuki's actions,(which brought the world into the 4th world war)
