I agree Pain is on Hashirama, Hiruzen and Madara level. But you still don't know if he was giving a complement or telling the truth.

- He wasn't as absolute in the official VIZ scan.
- Tendo wasn't used. Extremely unlikey that Jiraiya would've Sage Mode in the first place if all 6 were used from the off.
- Feats showed Jiraiya get pushed by those 3 realms.
- He believed he would be killed by those three in his strongest state.

That is 4 to 1.

Are you talking about the scar he gave him? if yes he was trying to subdue him without hurting him, if he was fighting it would have been different.

If you look at the scan clearly, the first half is them talking about the threats "he" poses. However, if you look at the bottom panel, that's when they start talking about Jiraiya.

Yes I noticed that, but they are saying at the end that they titles (uchiha/7 swordsmen) pale in comparison..so they do admit his power.

I guess logically it doesn't make much sense, but remember that he only lost because he didn't know that he could revive the bodies. He was caught off guard. With knowledge he has a chance to beat all paths except Tendo in my opinion.
