my personal assumption of how he defeated madara is..his darkness technique, why? well we know the uchiha's strength is their eyes (sharingan) the darkness genjutsu takes that away. so madara's ems wouldn be as effective. now how well would that work against minato? we were shown he was a sensor
scrolls cant really be a factor since both were hokages both would have had access to them
but where minato had the upper hand is intelligence and speed..for me thats the deciding factor. we can both agree hashi n minato were exceptional shinobi's..n in the world of martial arts..when two high level fighters go at it..its usually speed that determines the winner
