Is Tobirama really powerful or not?

Please read before posting, I'm not hating on Tobirama and I even considered him a top 10. However after seeing this page it somewhat changed my mind. So stop saying I'm trolling.

I was re-watching naruto and I came across an episode where Shikamaru said that Kinkaku was the one killed Tobirama. In the manga, it says Kinkaku just defeated him, but I suppose it's same thing since he lost to Kinkaku or gold/silver bro.

I'm not sure on what consensus is here on NB on how powerful Kinkaku and Ginkaku were, but considering that even though Darui and a few others had much trouble, they still managed to defeat them by using their own tools. Darui was also able to chop off their arms and fatally wound them as edo's before they even went into the tailed mode.

Many people theorize that he was near Hashi's level and also one of the top 10, but it would seem that it is not the case since most likely all top 10 characters could defeat the Gold and Silver bro with mid difficulty.

Yeah but Oro and Obito(with the kyuubi) ambushed the Kage's and both Oro and Tobi are miles ahead of Kinkaku/Ginkaku which would justify Hiruzen and Minato dying. But if the 2nd was as powerful as Hiruzen, then even if they ambushed him(not he also had the 2nd raikage to help) then they would have still defeated them.

he wasn't the nidaime hokage, the second-best of the senju clan during its prime (and the best of the senju clan after hashirama's death), the strongest in the village during the first shinobi world war (when it was full of uchiha and presumably senju), and a notable s/t user (as stated by the yondaime hokage himself; he states that obito's s/t surpasses both his and "nidaime-sama"'s s/t, meaning obito > minato >= tobirama in terms of s/t) for nothing, you know.

Edo tensei is a tech that takes time to prepare, he can't just use it in every battle without having first gotten the bodies and then make the seals and such to resurrect them.

On his own, judging from the fact the he was defeated by Kinkaku/Ginkaku, he doesn't seem to be as powerful. Many people may defend it by saying they ambushed him, but if that's the case, he still had the 2nd raikage there to help. Many other shinobi were ambushed like Minato and Hiruzen.

Well 1st off he was left on the brink of death by both the brothers. They aren't weak by any means. The anime/manga didn't give them their due justice. 2nd, when he was killed he was taken down by the kinkaku force or whatever. That could mean both brothers plus other elite lvl ninja. He is a bad ass hokage that never truly got his screen time, but he isnt god.

i see your point,

but i would say shika was referring to the battle or i should say ambush with the raikage and himself during there meeting, they were left almost for dead but ultimately they survived, well tobirama had, giving the story told by danzo where tobirama actually died confronting kinkaku team which was made up of kumos elite 20.

and although some might think that the gold and silver were weak giving there previous battle in the war, just remember they had intel of there capabilities, and we all know intel trumps brute force.

as for the ambush on the raikage and hokage, the gold and silver brothers stole the tools sot6p during the meting of the kages which would of lead to them not knowing what hit them, and given the state they were left in...not dead alive, they put up a hell of a good fight would then again lead me to think both kages deserve their titles and praise as strongest in their respected villages.
