Let's not forget the unknown amount of MS wielders amongst the clan members, the entire clan as a whole force would be extremely difficult to confront head on, also in single combat.

Were there MS wielders within the Clan other than Shisui - as Itachi gained it after he died? It's a possibility but a very slim one. Remember how other Clan members were surprised when they saw his eyes?

It was a military coup. In these kind of overthrows, where there is no democracy and an arbitrary set-up, once the militia leader is overthrown, the resistance ends, as a leader is needed to lead the faction. And continual resistance would only weaken the setup.

We have no clues about their plans... i don't know why people keep riding Danzo/Shisui/Hiruzen/Itachi's D over this matter... when the current anime episodes , already showed Uchiha were devoted to the safety of the village, and their concern was the non-unity between Hiruzen and Danzo..

That still doesnt make any sense, you kill em you take out half your army and leave yourself open for an invasion from another village. Danzo wasnt that dumb.

1. You underestimated Genjutsu.
2. You underestimated Fugaku, father of both Sasuke and Itachi Uchiha.
3. The root and pretty much all other shinobi are fodders, they all get owned the entire time, just like Madara took out dozens of them without even having to try or use ninjutsu (Yes it is Madara but he was only on 3 tomoe against an army)
4. It's not like the Uchiha are going to walk out of their shrine, out of their part of the village and start shooting fireballs everywhere, it's all a plan.

Only people who would actually even pose a threat to them would be Itachi, Danzo, Yamato and Hiruzen, the rest are all fodders.
(Excluding Shisui because Danzo would've taken his eyes regardless of the circumstances)

I see where you are comming from...

The Kyuubi was - even at the time - still a weapon that could be used in the favour of the Uchiha Clan. Surely, they would have had to kill poor lil Nardo to get it (well, war is always dirty work) and it would only be half as strong as it was before Minato sealed it... but still a force to be reconned with.
Kyuubi plus Uchiha vs Danzo Hiruzen and the rest of Konoha, feels evenly matched to me. The only powers that could supress the Kyuubi were Kushina and the Uchiha, too, so with Kyuubi alone the leaf would have struggled...

Just a wild idea though... Kishi probably won't give any hints on the Uchiha's plans and leave it be... good point of yours though!

Danzo was a selfish man with a desire for power and the seat of hokage, the only people who pose a threat to him was the Uchiha because he wanted the power of both the Uchiha and Senju, the Uchiha would be in his way and he wanted Sharingan for his pursuit of the seat of Hokage and the power to control the Kyuubi.

U guys overhype the village so much, the only real threats are Gai, Kakashi, and Danzo
