How illogical were the Uchiha?

I mean what did they really think they were going to do? There what like 40Uchiha maybe. How exactly did they think they were going to overthrow the whole leaf village. They had to deal with all the other clans, anbu, root, Danzo, and Hiruzen.

I understand the sharingan is powerful but its not unbeatable. They also probably would have gone up against Shisui and Itachi as well.

I am not saying they deserved what they got because the whole situation was just completely messed up but they were not very smart in that situation and overestimated their power which is what I believe to be their downfall I guess.

I doubt they were all elite, seeing how Itachi took down 3 with ease. Its Itachi but still if they were that "elite" it shouldnt have gone down so quick.

That was the anime and still I doubt half of them even knew of Izanami or Izanagi.

I'm pretty sure the village would of crushed them. The Hyuga probably have a fair chance against the 3 tomoe sharingan let alone the entire village.

They were far more than 40 maybe 200 jonin level shinobi that can one shot 70% of the village with their genjutsu. On top of that they had the power of Izanagi so they weren't weak. Danzo recognized the threat and tried to eliminate them, so did Shisui he knew that if the Uchiha attacked Konoha they could potentially overthrow the Hokage

They weren't illogical, they were desperate, running out of ideas, they knew something like the massacre would eventually happen, so they decided to make the first move -Kill or be Killed-

If they had both MS shishui and MS itachi on their side they had a chance to win. One of the biggest threats in the leaf were Hiruzen and Danzo(with his slate of sharingan). 2 MS users would have been useful to turn the tide. ALAS, as that would be impossible... It's either MS shishui or MS itachi, as itachi only gained MS once shishui died.

Obito had 58 Sharingan pairs - you can count them on the panel - and Danzo had them as well. There is nothing to suggest that they salvaged all of them. Now, Sharingan is rare amongst Uchihas. You can calculate the numbers yourself now. The total number of Uchihas was easily above 300. About 60 + Sharingan wielders and canonically, it requires two people to fight one Sharingan weilder. They were also the masters of Fire based attacks.

Then we have other factors. We don't know what they had planned or the full extent of their planning. It all ended prematurely.

It was more than 40 Uchiha and the majority of them were elite ninja and sharingan masters. Who knows if any of them had the Mangekyo as well, because its certainly possible some of them could have had it. Just like Intrepid said, Danzo realized how huge of a threat they were and took matters into his own hands. Danzo actually is the main reason the shinobi world is the way it is to be honest. He has had so much influence and his impact on the world is what shaped the story we now know.

It did suck though what he did to Shiusi because he was just a kid.

Let's not forget the unknown amount of MS wielders amongst the clan members, the entire clan as a whole force would be extremely difficult to confront head on, also in single combat.

But still against the whole village. Anime filler is a bad example but in the episode today, Shisui knew he couldn't handle the 20 root guys.
