Are u guyz kiddin me, I can't belive pple think hiruzen's greater than hashirama. come on, in his prime, hiruzen couldn't even face the kyuubi during its attack on the village, he had to wait for minato to show up. Hiruzen was not even made hokage by merit, as we have seen, he was chosen impromptu by the second after he made the decision to stay behind to cover the others. Hashirama fought against the greatest uchiha to even walk the earth. Madara did not spare any chance, and even resorted to using the kyuubi. Hashirama could control all the tailed beast like they were pets. Hiruzen couldn' t even face one. Hiruzen has never won a fight in the whole naruto series, while senju hashirama never lost any. Yes, madara was made stronger by the rinnegan, but even when facing hashi, madara could rewind time, as we saw in the video. Hiruzen was always amazed by the power the fourth hokage displayed, and even the fourth, had rwason to fear madara's strength. Madara is an ideal, a name that will never die, but konohamaru is even scared, that pretty soon, no one will remember hiruzen.

I believe that people dont understand why hiruzen is the strongest hokage and im thinking about making a thread. Basically this is why hiruzen is the strongest hokage. He was trained by both the 1st and second hokage who were leaders of the senju and that clan was said to be a clan with a 1000 skill (or some shit like that). If you notice hashirama had loads of scroll, scrolls that if you are elected hokage you are entitled to and i believe one of those scrolls is what naruto stole at the beginning of the series.

Now Hiruzen being a part of the sarutobi clan who were said to have natural talent in learning ninjutsu fast, its reasonable to say due to his old age, plus this natural ability he has mastered all the scrolls/ninjutsu's that existed in konoha. He has done something that not even his 2 former masters did in their life time. Further more if you look at the db he is the only person, yes only person to get a 5/5 for all 3 forms of ninja art and this speaks volumes. No wonder he was called the professor.

Now because he was the student of the 2 hokages he knows their techniques very well, so much so that if he was to fight them he would be able to counter and we saw this. The weakness of the Kokuangyo no Jutsu is that apart from the eye sight being taken away from you, all your othe senses are there and because hiruzen being the student of the 1st knew of this technique and its weakness he used his nose (sense of smell) to track hashirama;

Secondly Enma is a good counter for mokuton and we have seen this. Hashirama used the same technique as edo madara when he first used the mokuton. The technique was Mokuton Hijutsu: Jukai Kotan. Enma not only made mokuton look like a twig it also protect hiruzen;

Tobirama being a master of suiton jutsu. Hiruzen knew this and was able to counter his Suiton suiryudan, with doton doryuuheki;

The reason why Hiruzen is the strongest hokage is NOT solely based on raw power but knowledge on his counterparts to defeat them in a fight. Its his knowledge on his teachers abilities that will allow him to defeat them in a fight thats why he is strongest amongst them. Note the word amongst them because i believe people dont understand this.

If we were to give hashirama and hiruzen 10 top shinobi's to fight in a 1 vs 1 situation, i believe hashirama would win majority of his fights and i cannot say the same for hiruzen. So whilst hiruzen is the strongest hokage due to his knowledge on his former teachers, if we were to take this a step further and place them both outside the criteria of hokage hashirama is stronger, but if were to revert this and place them in the criteria of hokage hiruzen is stronger.

Hashirama is stronger but for reasons stated above hiruzen would most likely beat him majority of the times. Its not raw power that makes hiruzen stronger than hashirama

Man I tried to no to comment but I just think some of you live in denial. You say cause he knows their techniques you can counter it , bull they all knew about Susanoo and have they countered it yet. I wish yall would just face it damn. Madara has said over and over again that Hashirama was stronger than him and see how freakin power he is, so swallow you pride and that fact you thought you knew something and get over it. Hell I don't believe Hiruzen was the the strongest Kage in his era looking at the 3rd Raikage, Oonoki, and Muu. Hashirama was the Man and we never seen his true power because of Oro having the tags in. Truth be told I don't even think that Hiruzen was stronger than Tobirama or Minato. Besides Mokutan is Hashirama and his only it hasn't been duplicated only used through his stolen cells

It is from a videogame it doesn't count. You can only use knowledge from manga in arguments.
But seriously do people think that 2nd and 1st were seriously fighting with their full power against 3rd? They were standing most of the time and using kicks. Oro could have killed him during darkness easily but he obviously wanted to savour the moment.

Its Hiruzen when he was reigning as the Hokage.

Thats because the only person who actually got to fight Madara and win was Hashirama because Madara was dead when Hiruzen was around. It was stated in both part 1 and 2 that Orochimaru perfected Edo Tensai. I do not know. A>B>C logic does not work in Naruto so He may and he may not. But he already beat Hashirama.

Nope, kabuto surpassed orochimaru and perfected edo tensei. That hashirama could not do his flower tech, or heal itself.
Didn't want to bring this up but, Madara knew nagato. After muu summoned him, he thought he was brought back wit rinnegan as he said "nagato has grown"
Which means maybe he was alive to know about sarutobi and not recognize his power.
Sarutobi beat an incomplete, controlled and weaker edo-tensei. U_U

Tsunade has seen hiruzens prime, was his student and knows her master's fighting since they were at war times.
The latest chapter shows that even though she knew hiruzen, she is so shocked as how hashirama could fight against madara.

This shows that hashirama > hiruzen because she would not have been shocked like this

In which if I am right hiruzen hype was the strongest hokage in which he lived up to during that fight hashirama because if he wasnt the strongest why would kishi make he fight hashirama,tobimaru and orochimaru by himself?

Yes in terms of power Hashirama is definetely stronger. However it has been proven by canon that Hiruzen can still beat Hashirama.

this is a pointless battle , kishimoto has told hiruzen is the strongest kage , and right now he's showing madara's (indirectly hashimara's ) feats... so if he has to prove hiruzen the god of shinobi he'll just show hiruzen pulling something new ( another god like power plot no jutsu ) to prove he's stronger.
