While i understand your arguments, what you are describing is a teammate. Giving the command "attack" and having your "tool" carry out that order does not constitute a puppet-puppet master relationship. You say that they are simply eliminating the middle man in this puppet relationship, but i don't see any difference between edo tensei and fighting as a team.

In essence; Kakashi giving orders to his team 7 is exactly the same as kakashi summoning them via edo tensei. Without COMPLETE and DIRECT control over the actions of his puppets, i cannot consider edo tensei summons as a part of the user's power.

This is exaclty the beauty of Edo Tensei....BECAUSE YOU ARE ESSENTIALLY DOING THAT.

Unlike Team 7...the Edo Tensei bodies will follow any command given....whether that command be cut your teammate in half (Zabuza), rampage against the enemy (Third Raikage), defensively fall back (Muu or even the Seven Swordsmen), summon more Edo Tensei (Muu, Pakura, Gekki), or go Sh** in the woods (bascially what happened to Deidara once he was beaten)....the concept of morals, ideals, and opinon is completely eradicated from the actions of the Edo Tensei bodies whether or not they like it or do not care.

And Kabuto DOES have direct control....the point is that his direct control is just so much easier....instead of completing an entire formula you simply plug in number into a formula and it spits out results. Instead of moving your hands to the thread, he says a command and the strings move according to what he wants done.

A puppet master's manipulation of strings is very much so the equivelent of an "attack" order! That is simply the methode they use to attack...they use their strings to order their puppets to attack, defend, retreat, flank, or simply smack into a wall like a dumb***.

Kabuto simply doesn't have to move the strings....he says attack and his tools attack. They are just so advanced....they do SO MUCH on their own accord in response to commands.

Even then their still remains the fact that Kabuto CAN move teh strings...he showed us he can do this with both Muu and Nagato. He ordered and commanded specific jutsu to be used such as using the Human Path to try and take Naruto and Bee's souls....so that he could later ransom them off against Obito. He completely hijacked Muu's voice and spoke to Madara diretly through him. This is almost puppetry at its finest!

This whole concept is what I hate most about Edo Tensei.....it is so efficient at using other people's power and essentially makes them yours. The fact you want to scream bulls*** when someone summons X number of people, and you have to accept that this is their ability to do so.

Sir they are living things..... They have souls come back. I did research , but apparently your confusing the technique with the shinobis revived by the technique.

Power by definition is the ability to do something (regardless of what it is), Applying it to this discussion, If you are able to do the Edo tensei, it is your power however you may continue to dwell in ignorance if you see fit.

How does konan not have free will. She made the choice to follow. That is free will.

Exactly. She follows Pein and does what he says and kills Sasuke. That's her choice, and you know she'll always side with Nagato.

Madara is doing nothing that Kabuto has said or ordered. He is working on his own terms. Kabuto is out of the picture.

Madara, by the way, is only one of two examples of resistance in Kabuto's Edo, among literally dozens of succesfuly controlled Edos.

it was a mistranslation
Hashirama... can't even be controlled by Edo tensei.. lmao. Hes too strong to compare to Kabuto.

Prime Kabuto is him having a army right? Then Prime Hashirama, is him having the Senju clan

Prim Madara is him having the Uchiha clan

Prime Naruto is him having the Shinobi alliance.
ROFL XDXDXDXDXD
Naruto: everyone s*ck my d*ck

I completely understand, and agree to a point. My qualm with edo tensei is that people state Kabuto is #1 in a 1v1 fight due to edo tensei and this is simply not true and almost creates a paradox in itself.

The way orochimaru used his edo kages almost directly mirrors a puppet master battle. He stands back and manipulates the kage's actions. Now, with a puppet master, this would be considered a 1v1 battle, however with edo tensei included it almost turns into the puppet being considered the fighter, rather than the master.

The way everyone describes it, is that kabuto "claps his hands, 28 edos pop out of the ground, and they all murder the target." While this is true, I don't consider this a 1v1 fight, as in THIS instance he is not using direct control, essentially making him a team leader, rather than a puppet master.

It's rather confusing, and it's 3:00am here so i might not make much sense, but i hope you follow my logic. Haha.

In essence; using direct control turns the fight into puppet vs. target (Nagato vs. Naruto and Bee, rather than Kabuto vs. Naruto and Bee)
And using indirect control turns the fight into a team battle against a single opponent rather than a 1v1 fight.

I cannot agree with this thread.
Summons and ET are powers. Therefore part of your power.
If you could summon Naruto to fight with you at all times, Naruto would be part of your fighting arsenal.
If Naruto was your teammate he wouldn't be.
Whether he fights or not is irrelevant. It's your ability to call for him and having him there as backup makes you stronger.
The power of the character you are controlling is that characters alone. But ET and summons will give you and edge in battle, assuming nothing goes wrong. The more powerful your summon the more power you have on your side.

I say the more viable reason why Kabuto cannot use ET in 1vs1 fight is because he would have to prep for it. Sacrifices, DNA etc. With prepping time ET is an acceptable reason to put Kabuto as 1#.

Oh you make perfect sense which is once again why I absolutely hate this aspect of Edo Tensei, and for the most part entirely agree...

Kabuto: Oh...so you are here to fight me...allow me to summon up about 40 people to fight along side me.

The Nagato vs Naruto, Bee, and Itachi fight and Orochimaru's style are deffinatly the closest and fairest Parallel to a Puppet Master fight. And I agree that when he just pulls up X number of Bodies and says, "Fight"...a TRUE one on one is deffinatly lost.....

Unfortunately for me, I see Edo Tensei as part of an individuals power....so while the observational/logical/figurative deffinition of Mano e Mano is ENTIRELY DESTROYED, on a principle of "technicality" it is still a one on one because it is his power....

1. I specifically put "jutsu".... so how can i imply such a thing?

2. I can go morals on you.. but that will get us no where so , i'm dropping this. Since your cool and all.

3. Go rewatch the puppets in Naruto..... Puppets in NARUTO require strings just like real life puppets. No clue why your comparing them. Trying to making something into which it is not is twisting the manga. I already gave a solid reasoning which you claimed to be not solid. Yet you believe your reasoning is solid.

4. When the soul comes out in the body it is free. But later on is binded by Kabuto/Oro. A soul is not a tool.. atleast not in the human dictionary.

5. It is a paradox , because you made it into a paradox. The manga has never once declared the 3rd Raikage's powers to be part of Kabuto's power.. or any other edo's powers. Not even once. Kabuto acts as the leaders to a number of shinobis... simple as that. He tells them to attack.. they attack. Hashirama was the leader of the Senju.. he tells them to attack they attack.. Same for Madara. If your making multiple shinobis part of 1 person's power.. then i fail to see your logic.

6. Manga says "pawns". Do not add words by yourself sir. The point you made was that it only refers to "one".. and then you made unlogical examples of fire jutsu and etc.. yet the "ones" refers to a living being.

7. Because the first definition refers to Chess. o_O. If you say it refers to the first.. Then you should know chess is played by using other people (bishop, horse, king , queen, pawns and etc) , not yourself. Mano e Mano is a one vs one fight where it is your body vs other person's body. How is Edo tensei keeping the fight one vs one.

Silence is Gold, when there is no need to speak up. Otherwise Words are Diamonds and pearls.

1. When you said jutsu...you went on to say that they only the ability to summon the thing is one's power....that is not power at all....the ability to summon something, and have that thing perform a productive action for you is what the summoning jutsu does...which is why I felt the Summoning Techniques were being devalued compared to other jutsu ^.^

2.Lol Fair enough XD!!

3. They aren't the exact same I entirely agree; however, the actions parallel one another. The Puppeteer sits back while the puppet directly engagges the opponent. The Puppet Master using direct chakra threads to accomplish this. Edo Tensei Caster's Sit back while their Edo Bodies directly engage the opponent. The Caster using mental commands as a parallel to strings to accomplish this. That is why I compare them.

4. I would agree that a soul is not a tool; however, once binded to an object it becomese the equivelent of a tool...a parallel to an Ox drawing a plow, or a horse drawing a buggy. These animals have effectively become tools, and by utilizing their own mobility, a human is capable of accomplishing desired tasks through them.

5. Kabuto mentioned his pawns a part of his power. If the pawns refer to the Edo Bodies...then their power is indirectly under his command. Hashirama can issue an attack; however, this does not mean every Senju will immediatly attack or some may even NOT attack....because Hashirama cannot 100% force them to do things. Kabuto on the other hand can unless the Edo happens to know override methodes or has been blessed with rediculous DNA. The shinobi, as dead Edo Bodies, are a part of a persons power, but completely living shinobi are not a part of one person's power (for instance Hashirama's Clan members are not a part of his power).

6. The "ones" cannot refer to living beings because every Edo Tensei represents a dead individual...they are Undead or the Re-living if used in this context. I don't believe I added any words of my own. I was simply replying to the deffinition. Pawn: one that can be used to further the purposes of another. In the plural form it would be Pawn: Many that can be used to further the purposes of another.....Nowhere in the deffinition does it directly state that One or Many refer to an individual. Nor does it state "another" refers to an individual. For example: One could use a Wind Jutsu as a pawn to further the purpose of a Fire Jutsu (to burn the crap out of someone). In a plural sense, one can use a plethora of Wind Jutsu as pawns to further the purpose of creating a Wind Barrier (as was done to defend the Juubi's Furry Swipes). I still consider the Edo Bodies as tools simply due to the fact that they have absolutely no say in what they do (other than maybee how they use their techniques...and even then they can still be controlled). As such, Pawns to me, refers to multiple Edo Bodies that are essentially Souls strapped to a plow....by using the Soul as a power source, your tool is 100 times better.

7. But chess is Mano e Mano. The pieces have absolutely no power, intelligence, or mobility on their own. In the hands of one individual...the Queen can tear through the ranks and devestate the enemy. In the hands of another, the Queen is easily taken by a pawn. Through your deployment of the pieces, you come ever closer to being either victorious or defeated. You alone are in control of all the pieces on one side, and One person alone is in control of all the pieces on the other side. So in effect, you are all of you pieces and the opponent is all of his or her pieces.

As applied to Kabuto. He oversaw the deployment of each and every one of his pieces. Kabuto effectively tried to make every piece as close to the Queen that tears through the enemy ranks as he could, but he still played with Pawns. For instance, He used Haku to re-draw the image of the way the boy origionally died...almost allowing Zabuza to butcher Kakashi. The King in chess can represent your hold on Edo Tensei...once an opponent starts placing you in check, you focus more on moving yourself and your control over the jutsu and thus limiting the commands to be given to deployed Edos (other Pieces). Once Izanami happened and Edo Tensei was released. Checkmate. The Edo Pieces wer no longer able to move of their own volition, and were then sent freed from their bodies.

I can see how many individuals see the edo tensei as part of kabuto's power. I prefer to see it as a special consideration. Just like obito and the juubi. The juubi isn't part of his power but he does try to utilize it in a specific occasion

At the end of the day, Kabuto Vs "favorite", Kabuto uses edo tensei, Stomps said "favorite", Releases edo tensei, Kabuto = last man standing = win's.

What are you saying? Its clearly said in the series that powers s are part of a ninja's powers, so stop trying to argue against it.

Arguing with people here is barely worth it.
Edo's can't even be used in battle unlike summons, so it's pointless.

And summoning is part of someone's power and arsenal, but the actions of that summon completely depend on the master. If they're fighting independently but together, then you could say 'They won the fight'. If they're fighting dependetly, it's still 'they won the fight'. However, if one person is giving out orders to the other while fighting, you say 'he won the fight', since the other person's moves were completely based on his intellegence and strategy.

Judging from my history of posts though, probably like 89% of people on this page are going to ignore this post, sadly. Thanks to anybody who read this tho.

Kabuto > SO6P. Thats your opinion then.

Kabuto > Edo Madara.. Thats your opinion then.

When it comes down to it, who gives a f*ck? It's his Jutsu, he can (or use to be able to) use it whenever he wants.
dude.. the jutsu itself is part of his arsenal aka power... Edo tensei transports the dead souls into artificial bodies that cannot die.

However.. if you think controlling someone through a Genjutsu or w.e is part of your power then your conceited.
