Your telling me to respect DBZ when i'm informing you guys what the franchise had accomplished in the Anime world and your disagreeing? Your the one that needs to respect DBZ and know what feats DBZ has achieved.
Wrong. There is such thing as Legendary status and DBZ has achieved this, that feat alone puts DBZ in a different league compared to every other Anime/Manga
DBZ new Movie is the only Anime Movie to be in the IMAX and it''s the top-non US film overseas. Still going to other countries yet.
Every Anime has flaws and DBZ storyline wasn't the best but the franchise overall made up for that flaw by giving the audience a feeling like no other Anime. For example: DBZ is like Avatar, the movie as gives you a feeling like no other and blows your mind but the storyline wasn't that good. What would you prefer Avatar, a movie that gives you a feeling like no other movie and blows your mind or would you prefer a movie that has a very good storyline? Virtually most people would prefer Avatar. DBZ is the most well known than any other Anime, the franchise gets shown in mostly every country. One Piece has surpassed DB in Manga sales so it is more popular than DB in Japan but world wide, DBZ wins.
DB revolutionised the Anime world to new heights. It was the Flagship of Shounen Manga during it's Golden Era and many Anime that you watch today including Naruto wouldn't even of existed if it wasn't for DB. It's true that many Anime/Manga has gone above DBZ in terms of plot, animation, storyline, character development but i can't see the child surpassing the father for a very long time or perhaps forever. DBZ has achieved feats that other Anime's won't achieve forever! You need to understand this! This is why the child won't surpass the Father in the future because DBZ footprint in the Anime world will stay forever. DB came out in 1985 and it's still going strong today!!! Name me another Anime/Manga that will ever accomplish this? It's very unlikely that another Anime will the success that DBZ has achieved. The level of magnitude is just to high for DBZ to be surpassed because of Anime/Manga and it's impact.
I'm not judging DBZ on just popularity. I'm judging the Anime/Manga and the feats that DBZ has accomplished.
By judging that DBZ is the greatest Anime of all time and it will not be surpassed by any other Anime/Manga. End of Story.

Reception and impact
The impact of Dragon Ball Z is enormous. For more than 20 years, the series has stood the test of time and has reached out to many children and adults alike across the globe. This is mainly due to the series' very clear representations of good overpowering evil, love overpowering hate, the importance of family and friends, and an unyielding passion toward achieving goals. The series also featured heavy sci-fi overtones, and a greater emphasis on fighting - making it extremely popular among adolescent boys who had grown up alongside the original series.
Dragon Ball Z has also played a large part in contributing to the popularity of anime in western culture. Though the first two seasons of the series were played on various networks in the U.S. in 1996, it would not take off for two more years until August 31, 1998, when Cartoon Network featured the show in its action-oriented Toonami lineup. Toonami heralded the show as "The Greatest Action Cartoon Ever Made," and it greatly boosted the popularity of Toonami, but unknowingly did so much more. Dragon Ball Z's newfound popularity helped to bring about a greater interest in Japanese cartoons in the eyes of western youth, which in turn fueled the western anime industry to new heights. Because of its success on Toonami, Dragon Ball Z was the first anime that made its way to the Wall Street Journal, who declared it "A Huge Cartoon Hit."
Many items such as apparel, backpacks, lunch boxes, writing utensils, candies, drinks, foods and more feature Dragon Ball Z, in both Japan and North America. Action figures, collectible figurines, plush toys, bobble heads, and character model kits were also made. The fast food chain Burger King featured Dragon Ball Z toys twice in the early 2000's. Despite the TV series officially ending in Japan in 1996, and in 2003 in North America, Dragon Ball Z video games are created nearly every year for almost every console on the market, helping to introduce the Dragon Ball Z series to younger generations that never got a chance to see it air on television. These games usually do very well in the market. Popular sites such as YouTube have attracted large Dragon Ball Z fan communities over the course of the last few years, and Dragon Ball related videos receive many views. All of these examples showcase the incredible popularity of Dragon Ball Z in many countries of the world.

Akira Toriyama's most famous creation, Dragonball became an anime and for Kishimoto this spawned a whole new interest in Manga and Shonen Jump. Near the end of Elementary school, Masashi Kishimoto was strictly a Dragonball fan, he recalls how he was so obsessed with Akira Toriyama, "He was like a god to me, I was constantly drawing characters that appear in Dragonball." At this stage in his life Kishimoto did not recieve an allowance to buy the 190 Yen Jumps, and would have to rely on a friend to show him jump to get his Dragonball fix. It was at this stage in his life that Masashi Kishimoto made a decision that he is not regretting now, and many of his fans are thankful for. He started to think to himself that "Manga sure is great" and that he wanted to become a famous Mangaka like Akira Toriyama. Kishimoto created his first manga around this time entitled "Hiatari-kun", a story revolving around a "Shadow ninja boy".
Still in elementary school, Kishimoto was still obsessed with Akira Toriyama and would spend all of his extra time making his drawings look exactly like his idols. It was then that he saw a game that Akira Toriyama helped develop called "Dragon Quest". The drawings were amazing, but unfortunately for Masashi Kishimoto he did not own a Famicon (Nintendo), which every other kid in his class seemed to own. He certainly could not ask his parents for something of this nature, everytime his father heard the word "Video Game" he would tell Kishimoto to go study. It was then that his twin brother devised a plan to get a Famicon from someone else, but could someone willing to give away something worth 10,000 Yen possibly exist, he did and Masashi Kishimoto began to view this friend as a god.
After he learned of "Akira", Masashi Kishimoto's drawings changed in a big way. He spent hours studying and trying to understand.
Today everything has worked out for Masashi Kishimoto, his dreams of becoming a famous Jump mangaka have come true, his story about that shadow ninja boy, Naruto has become one of the best selling and most popular mangas worldwide. He has certainly shown that he can draw with the best of them, and despite all the adversities, he has succeeded. Masashi Kishimoto is a true inspiration, a true role model, and will go down in history as one of the best and this would have not happened if it wasn't for Akira.
