Earth Release

Doton, meaning Earth Release, is one of the basic 5 nature transformation techs and allows the user to manipulate the surrounding Earth and use it to their benefit. The entire structure of terrains can be changed within seconds. It is a very sturdy element, which can endure the harshest weather conditions. The user can change the structure of the Earth, either he can make it super hard or as soft as clay as well as manipulating their density, making them heavier or lighter. It is one of most versatile elements among the basic 5.

Weaknesses
  • Weak against Lightning, as Lightning easily cuts through Earth.
Strengths
  • Strong against water, because Earth easily absorbs water.
Why Do You Like It: Well, I like this element, as it's one of the most versatile elements out of the basic 5. Plus, the terrain is not a problem, as Earth is present everywhere. It also has very less weaknesses, and can be used as a great defense, and also can reduce the intensity of certain attacks like meteors. Also, Doton can be used to manipulate the ground beneath and around the opponent, allowing for limitless potential in creating successful combos. Last, but not the least, the user can conceal themselves in the ground, thereby surprise attacking the opponents.

Concept In Battle

Well, Earth Release is a pretty great element to use in battle. Most of its uses are for defense as Doton jutsus make excellent defenses. It's great for catching opponents off guard too. They're mainly offensively used in combos. Also, they can be used as an armor surrounding the hand which increases the punching power of the user. Also, users like Oonoki can lighten or make things heavier, as seen when Oonoki lightened Madara's super giant Meteor.

(Doton No Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique

Descripton: Creates small pillars of earth, small tools, and small shields of earth
I proceed to close my eyes and focus on my chakra. Slowly, but gradually, I build up the chakra inside my body, channeling it throughout the body. I think about Earth's properties, "irregular, rough, unpredictable" as I perform Nature manipulation on the chakra, thus converting it into Doton chakra. I bend down and proceed to channel my chakra outwards, towards the ground. As the chakra is directed towards it, a pillar slowly rises up from the ground.

Channeling my chakra again, this time I send a lesser amount of it towards the ground, as several spikes emerge from the ground.

Repeating the procedure again, I channel chakra once more, this time a very huge amount, as a massive shield like Earth coated wall rises from the ground.

Okay! Now another simple technique. I want you to focus once more you chakra and nature manipulate it into doton chakra. Send the chakra towards a small chunk of rock on the ground and manipulate the shape of the rock into a normal sized staff. Grab the staff and either throw it towards the dummy standing mid range of you knocking it down with great accuracy. That or your second choice is to dash towards the dummy and hit him with the rock staff.

I build up my chakra and focus on it. I slowly perform Nature Manipulation on it, converting it into Doton chakra. I then proceed to send the chakra into a small chunk of rock located just beside me. I gradually manipulate into a normal sized Earth coated staff.

I firmly hold the staff in my right hand and proceed to run towards the dummy. As I near him, I outstretch my right arm and hit the dummy on the abdomen with as much force as I can.

Now this one is another very simple one. You will gather raw chakra and then channel the chakra in their arm all the way through your hands. I want you to nature manipulate the chakra into doton chakra now and release that doton chakra from your hands. You will manipulate the doton chakra on your hands to shape them into small sized rock rings. I want you to create one in one of your hands and send it flying towards the dummy mid range from us. Hit him where ever you want.

Description: The user will concentrate their chakra into their arm and then release their chakra creating a ring of rocks that are then flung at the opponent.
I focus on my chakra inside my body and slowly channel it to my hands, which gradually moves on to the arms, as the chakra dies to get out of my body. I, again remember the properties of Earth and perform Nature Manipulation on it and the chakra changes into Doton chakra. I slowly release it from my hands and start manipulating it. The resulting manipulation forms small rings coated with Earth chakra. With my left eye closed, I use my right eye to aim the attack at the dummy's neck.

Then, I outstretch my arms in a 180 degree position and hold the Earth coated ring on the center. I throw the ring at the dummy like a boomerang as it flies toward it, in almost a horizontal position, cutting off the dummy's neck.

How to use the template and fill it out effectively. This will also help your career in RP but it is quite a read though I do expect you to read it and carefully at that. I will notice if you have or not, and failure to write out the template correctly will result in a re-do of the jutsu(s).

Performance
When it comes to the performing point of the template, its all about imagination but this one is considered the most obvious of the whole template. When the student performs something you need to paint a picture in the teachers head to give them a clear image of everything that is going on and how you are reacting or feeling about the jutsu. Each jutsu will give different feelings and reaction. It is your job simply to show me how and what you are feeling and what is going on when performing the jutsus.

The things I expect in the performance are two things that are most important when performing the jutsus. The first is called Nature Manipulation. Nature manipulation is when the user will manipulate or control their raw chakra to change in basic nature which is one of the five basic elements. Now most people like to simply say something like this:
I gather my chakra and nature manipulate it into lightning chakra.
Yes this is okay but where is the creativity or the respect of actually wanting to perform and feel the jutsu? Now to explain every basic element properly on how to manipulate chakra into nature with more imagination and creativity such examples like this would work.
With my raw chakra gathered I begin to take focus upon the chakra. I begin to think of the warmth of the very sun and the blazing heat it gives off, I condense the chakra and finally mold the chakras nature into fire.

After gathering my chakra, I begin to take full control over it. I sharpen the chakra having the precious sharpness that surpasses that of a sword. Successfully I mold the chakra into wind chakra.
Now this is pretty much the basis when it comes to nature manipulation on how I see fit and what is best to impress your teacher. Now if you are wondering about how should I explain all the natures, well think about their property. Lightning has high frequent vibration and electrical sharpness, fire is superheated and blazing warm, water is free-flowing and very flexible, earth is rough and versatile, wind is sharp and thin with great accuracy. To be able to explain them you simply have to free your mind and become as creative as you can.

Now I can understand some times you don't want to go that deep into the jutsu because some are more simple then others and I can understand that, all I ask is to try and not be lazy with it.

The second thing that is most important when performing a jutsu correctly is called Shape manipulation. Now this is when you take the chakra or the chakra nature and shape it into any form or shape it requires to be properly formed. Shapes include spheres, animals (All types), blades, ect. This is all about attention to detail, and how precious you want to be when trying to perform the jutsu. Now here is a regular example that is done usually.
I manipulate the shape of my chakra to form a bullet.
Though again, that is not exactly wrong but where is the fun and creativity in that? This is all about paying attention to detail and how much you want to focus up on it. Here are some other examples that are more suffice.
After gathering my lightning chakra, I lengthen its size and sharpen the edge of the chakra to create a spear of lightning.

As I gather my chakra and release it forward, I begin to shape it and make it round as well as smooth leaving no bumps to create a spherical ball of chakra.
This is pretty much all it takes nothing more or less. You do not need to go extreme but detail is always best not only for me as a teacher but when you get in the habit of making proper and creative replies it will follow you in battle and help you greatly their when the time comes.

Creative uses/strengths

Now we are getting to the important part of all this. Now with this template I expect two things each with a total amount of detail. What I mean is firstly I expect you to tell me the strengths of a certain jutsu, I don't care how it works. I want to know what makes it useful. Things like that can include the jutsu is able to move in all ranges giving it a large amount of mobility. Another is you can send multiple attacks with one jutsu to attack more then one opponent or trying to barrage the opponent with attacks to make evasion difficult. Yes this are quite the small strengths but stuff like this count in the eyes of a teacher and needs to be taken in account. Though those are just some small examples what you really need to do is look into the jutsu itself. Try adding all or as much strengths with what you see in the jutsu. Also I understand some jutsus are more simple then others and might not have as much advantages but that is okay, its all about trying and thinking about it. But I do expect 1-3 strengths mentioned.

Lastly to perfect the strength portion, this is simple but something so many students fail to do. When you give a strength explain why that is considered a strength. Yes explain why. This is the most important part because it shows us how you plan on using it in battle and the teacher will be able to pick out what you have done wrong specifically. So simply saying it goes long range does not make it a hardcore advantage because if you think about it, that can also be considered a disadvantage. So by saying that it is very wrong and can confuse the teacher, all we really do is assume and guess what you are trying to say. So trying to perfect it, you would need to say something like this.This is the correct and proper way in doing the strength portion of the template.
The jutsu goes in long range, because of this the opponent will not be able to evade that easily by just pushing back and it can correspond with other jutsus.
Now the second portion of the template is creative usages. What is this is simply a combo or something you would do with the jutsu. This helps the teachers notice your style and what you are likely to accomplish in fighting so if you are doing anything wrong we can inject it and fix it so you do not make a mistake in battle. This is all about just being creative, every jutsu has a unique usage and can be used creatively or at the very least used in correspondence with other jutsus to create a combo to attack the opponent or turn the table on them.

Simple combos are of all kind, and most teachers will explain the jutsus usually giving a combo or a usage you can use, but it is the very basic of it. It is simply meant to show you how it is meant to be used or just to give you an idea. All because the teacher says it does not mean we want you to repeat what we said. You need to come up with another detail or combo. Simple combos could be like sending a fire jutsu towards the opponent and then use a jutsu to shake the ground to put the opponent off balance so it will be hard to react with the attack, and a more powerful combo could be when sending a fire jutsu direct it towards the ground and then send a single blade of wind behind the fire, which you can then activate the blade to turn into a hurricane to create a powerful fire vortex. Though with newer RPers they tend to sometimes use basic combos because they have seen less of the jutsu list or understand it less then others, but when you move on and learn more jutsu creating combos become much more easier and you begin to take action effectively.

Drawbacks/counters

Now this is the complete opposite of the strengths and creative usages. This is as equal as the strengths and creative usages for it allows the teacher to see exactly how is your understanding of the jutsu. Usually when people look at jutsus they tend to leave this with very little detail and failure to explain it properly. This is because many people believe disadvantages are to obvious to try and explain on why its a disadvantage which is the wrong mentality when doing this point. There are things with drawbacks and counter that need to be taken in account. What I usually expect from the student here is at least 1-3 drawbacks and at least one counter for the jutsu you would do.

Drawbacks when looking into it is not explained from the student, it is usually because of the double standards people give to jutsus. As I explained in the above long range attacks would be great attacks but their are disadvantages to them, one being is if the opponent is long range it will take much more time for the attack to reach the opponent so they will be able to counter the attack with ease. The thing is when it comes to advantages their will always be a disadvantage to that very thing. If something is great to use in short range battle it is useless in long range, if the jutsu is a projectile technique it can be used with combos but the jutsu will usually be straightforward and easy to anticipate. This is something always to consider when writing disadvantages that they're will always be one as long as you have listed advantages or mention them. So if you have two advantages mentioned then their is a huge likely hood that their will be two disadvantages with that, so their should not be much of a ratio difference between the two.

Listing proper drawbacks all depends on the way you fight and how you see the jutsu being used, usually it is looked at if the jutsu is sent or used against you, what would be the initial weaknesses you would sense. Firstly too look into listing them you have to take account everything in your senses and the jutsu concept. When it comes to the senses examples include if you send a large fire attack towards the opponent you will likely not be able to see through the fire so you won't be able to see how they are moving or what they are doing. If the opponent tries to use a jutsu with earth release that uses the ground as a medium you will be able to use your sense of feel, to feel the density of the ground begin to shift or change. Stuff like this are obvious disadvantages. Now when it comes with the jutsu concept those are usually the usual people tend to look into, so lets say the chidori only works in close range battle so it can't be used for anything but close range battle limiting the jutsu. Also jutsus that have long list of hand seals are disadvantages because it might take some time to perform the jutsu leaving you open. Streaming techniques are usually not good to use with combos but you have complete control where you aim them. (Notice their how their is a disadvantage but also a advantage because of that ability)

Lastly when it comes to countering the jutsu. Now how teachers picture your combos is usually as if the jutsu has already been sent so saying things like:
While he is performing the long list of hand seals I will send an attack before he completed them.
Yes they work but it will not always be the case like that so you need to be able to counter it as if it was already sent, though its not bad to mention that aspect saying because of the hand seals you can counter before he completes them but it is not what we look at, you are not simulating a battle situation, and that is what teachers what you to try to do and how they want to teach as if you were in battle. Remember when we were talking about how disadvantages work? Those are usually what a person will look at when trying to counter the jutsu, so lets say the opponent sends a lightning blade towards you as a projectile attack, this is what is acceptable.
Due to the fact it is straight forward and easy to notice (See the disadvantage) I can simply figure out where it is heading and I can create a dense defense like a wall or try to overpower it.
So using those disadvantages you listen can be used to make the proper counter towards the jutsu so remember that.

Lastly it is the type of counters we want to see. When it comes to countering a jutsu we don't want you just to stop the jutsu, we want you to turn the table and go on the offense so to impress try to add ways to not only defend but attack as well. Also try not to spam the same counter over and over, what I mean by that is if the opponent sends a lightning attack don't just say:
I will send a wind attack to overpower it.
That is far to generic, yes some techs are more straightforward then others but those should be the ones you can formulate better counters with, its okay to experiment and say something new or outside the box, that is what teachers want to see and what they expect. So instead of using a wind jutsu, why not use a water pillar to launch you in the air and then send a attack to go on the quick offense? Simple yes, but at least it is not generic and overdone.

So that is the basis of everything, all in all try to have fun and be creative with it, this is meant for enjoyment as well as a learning experience.

Description: After performing the Rat hand seal, the user to control multiple sections of rock and move them around their opponent. The user then forms two gigantic sections that crush the opponent.

This is a rather simple straightforward jutsu. You will perform one hand seal and manipulate multiple sections of rock around the terrain, you will move them around your opponent and set them opposite of one another. The rock sections when set are rather large in size both width and length but not so much though you can not evade them. The user will make the two rock sections come together and crush the opponent together. Note that this technique can only be used up to mid and long range, this is because the sections are so large if they are close to the user their is a chance you will be crushed along side.


(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique

Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth. While inside the earth, the user cannot make handseals and can only use Earth techniques below C-Rank. If he tries to do a higher ranked technique, he'll disrupt the Hiding like a mole technique and be left crushed.

One of my favorite earth jutsus. The user will channel a large sum of there chakra towards the ground making it into quick sand pretty much and sink down in the ground. The performance of the jutsu is fast with no hand seals just focus and leaves no traces whatsoever. While you are underground you can move freely around however and wherever, also you can sense everything what is happening above ground this can help with always being on top of the situation of what is going on and you can set surprise attacks from below which is an area an opponent will usually not think about. While underground performing hand seals is impossible and you can also use only C-Rank earth and below. Now this jutsu is considered one of the dangerous as well as handiest for if the opponent ever catches or figures out you are in the ground they can easily disrupt the ground to have your chakra expelled from the area crushing you in the area, jutsus like world shaking will do. So never go underground with the opponents knowledge of it, you will be handicapped.


(Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitation Technique

Description: The user, emerging from the ground below the target area, pulls down the opponent so that only their head is above ground. Unable to move, the opponent can easily be decapitated or tortured.
Note: user must already be underground through the use of (Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique

Okay you see that dummy over there? I want you to get into close range of it. Send your chakra towards the ground below you and dig down by using hiding like a mole. When you are underground you should remember the dummies position and sense it. Stick you hand out the ground and grab the dummy by the ankle. Use the ankle to pull yourself while simultaneously pull your opponent down. You should be on foot and the opponents head should be sticking out only. From there decapitate the dummy making it a successful kill. Note something important is you must have already used hiding like a mole technique, so overall it would count as two jutsus. I want you to perform this jutsu. No need for the use of a template.

Perform the technique:I gather my raw chakra inside my body, as I feel it resonating within me. I can experience the rush of chakra, as it tries to escape the 361 points in my body. I take complete control over it and think of the nature of Doton: rough, unpredictable and versatile, as I manipulate it into Doton Chakra. Still maintaining concentration, I perform the Rat hand seal and channel the chakra towards the Earth. Slowly, some Earth structures rise up, as I channel my chakra and visualise a picture about giant rocks. Being clear, I shape manipulate them into two giant rocks and I bring them together so as to crush the dummy.

Creative uses/strengths:

  • My opponent won't be able to escape if I use this as it traps him from both the sides and crushes him
  • If successful, I can crush his arms and legs
  • A good combo would be:
    (Ninpou: Gekka Bijin) - Ninja Arts: Beauty Under the Moonlight

I build chakra again in my body and begin to mold it into Doton chakra. Then, I release the chakra into the ground under me. I then manipulate the earth under me and change its properties softening the earth and making it find almost like sand. I began to dig through the fine sand easily and go underground, almost like a mole digging into sand, and as I do, I begin traveling underground and travel a few meters ahead and, slowly dig my way up again.

Creative uses/strengths:

  • This jutsu is useful for escaping another jutsu if I am not able to counter it, i.e. I can dig underground and appear somewhere else.
  • I can use it to go underground and then appear beneath my opponent and pull his legs towards the ground getting him stuck there.
  • While I am underground, I can move freely and also I can sense everything what is happening above the surface
Drawbacks/counters:
  • If the opponent notices the user going underground, then he can use it to his advantage to trap him underground or expel the users' chakra and disrupt the ground below.
  • The opponent can set landmine traps on the surface, hence insta injuring the user severely.

(Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitation Technique

I look towards the dummy and focus my attention on it, while getting closer to it. As I reach a certain distance, I observe the distance between the dummy and me and mentally remember it. I, then send my Doton chakra towards the ground and I dig downward using Hiding Like A Mole jutsu.

Once, I reach underground, I dig horizontally towards the direction of my dummy and sense it's position. Once, I reach it, I immediately pull my hand out of the ground and grab it by it's ankle. Simultaneously, I pull myself up, using the force required to pull the dummy downwards as I reach the top surface of the ground. The dummy's body is successfully trapped in the Earth, as only the head pokes out. I immediately decapitate it, making a successful kill.

I want you to perform this jutsu.

Simple but effective technique indeed. You will focus doton chakra towards the ground where your opponent stand and quickly without the need of hand seals you will rise from the ground stone spikes which will pierce the opponent from every direction. They are rather large spikes in length and very sharp. Note before the spikes actually rise just like a lot of earth techniques you will easily feel the ground become more dense around you where you stand, so you can use that window to stop the jutsu or evade.

Okay I like this technique its great for combos. The user will channel doton chakra towards the ground around the area the opponent stands. With no hand seals the user will make the ground shake. It can force the opponent off balance and also fall over this can leave a window of attack open. You can also distract them from using specific attacks. Its a very quick jutsu to perform almost instant. Its a tough technique to counter one way would be that as the ground shakes you can send a current of lightning to stop the shaking.

The opponent will gather doton chakra into their lungs and spit out a thick mud ball towards the opponent anywhere the user wants to aim, it has power to force an opponent back, when hit on the face their vision is hurt due to mud all over the place and the opponent can choke if it does hit and stay on their face. You can also aim on the ground to have a opponent trip over. Its also a projectile technique so you can quickly send another tech without hesitation and can be used with combos.

Perform The Technique: As before, I focus on my chakra and let it gradually build up in my body. Performing Nature Manipulation on it, I change it to doton chakra. I look at the dummy's location, as I focus my Doton chakra there, performing Shape Manipulation as gradually stone spikes emerge from every direction. Once, I focus enough, they emerge from every direction and pierce the dummy.

Creative uses/strengths:
  • Spikes emerge from every direction, hence if the opponent is trapped, he dies instantly.
  • Since the jutsu doesn't require any hand seals, it's pretty fast.
  • A good combo would be:

Perform The Technique: I build up my raw chakra and manipulate it to Doton chakra which I focus on the ground and channel it around the area of my opponent and without any hand seals I will make the ground shake. The resulting jutsu disturbs the opponent's balance, as he is distracted.

Creative uses/strengths:
  • Pretty good for faltering an opponent's balance and distracting him.
  • While, the opponent is distracted, there is a time window for the user to finish off the opponent.
  • Tough to counter.
Drawbacks/counters:

  • A simple current of lightning can be used to stop the shaking.
  • As before, the opponent can use a simple D-ranked Wind jutsu to blow himself away from the area of impact.

I gather it in my lungs and soften the chakra, while performing shape manipulation on it, forming thick mud streaks which I proceed to spit on your dummy's face situated mid-range from me. This results in the dummy's face getting clogged with mud.

Creative uses/strengths:
  • If used properly, it blinds the opponent, hence hindering his vision.
  • Can be aimed on the ground to falter the balance of the opponent.
  • A good combo would to be use a mid-ranged C Ranked Wind and Fire jutsu to burn the opponent severely.
Drawbacks/counters:
  • Can be easily avoided.
  • Can be only used in combos.
  • Doesn't cause damage at all

Descripton: This technique allows the ninja to control nearby stone and rock. This can be especially useful if in a cave or a stone lodging. The technique can loosen the rocks and cause them to come raining down on whomever is trapped inside.

Okay this is best used in a cave then anywhere else. The opponent will control the nearby stone and rock and loosen them up making the whole cave very fragile. The cave will then begin to cave in on itself which can trap multiple opponents and kill them. You can use this to kill multiple opponents. I recommend that you never use it when your in the cave as well for thier is a chance you can also get hit by the rocks, so try trapping the opponent by luring them in the cave and then use the tech from outside.

This is a very basic projectile based technique. The user perform 3 hand seals and spew out a dense, concentrated ball of mud. Medium size, not so big it will cover your vision when sending it. This jutsu can be in combos with two other jutsus, its also able to travel a long range. Its one of the really basic techs but being able to hit an opponent will hurt their vision as well as push them back. Simplicity is a good thing, by the way. You can create the mud bullets by using a mud source around the area.

With one hand seal you will create a river of mud under the opponent feet. Its throw them off balance as well as the mud carrying the opponent away. From their it becomes difficult for the opponent to stand straight on a moving mud river. You can send attacks while he is down from the mud. The river is made short range of you, and the overall mud length is 5 meters long when created. Right when it is created you can move on to an attack.

I immediately move outside the cave, and continue the process. Slowly, the Earth starts shaking rapidly, as the loosened rocks start falling upon the dummy located inside the cave. In some moments, the whole cave comes down, as your clone is crushed in pieces.

  • Is a one-hit KO if the opponent is trapped in the cave and has no chance to escape.

I then, proceed to perform the Ram→Horse→Dragon handseals and manipulate the shape of my chakra to concentrated, dense mud bullets, which have a dragon shaped head to them. I focus on the dummy eyes, as I release the mud bullets from my mouth towards the dummy. The force of the attack and the acceleration acquired block the dummy's vision and pushes it backwards.

Creative uses/strengths:
  • Pretty basic technique and effective too.
  • Can be used in short/mid range to push back the opponent, before he attacks us.
  • Targeting the tech at the opponent's eyes, blocks his vision, which can be used an advantage to finish him off by using a mid-ranged ninjutsu.
  • Combining it with a fire tech, causes dragon shaped lava to hit the opponent, hence burning him badly.
  • A mid-ranged strong Wind jutsu can be used in conjuction with it to increase the speed of the impact, hence pushing back the opponent further.
Drawbacks/counters:
  • The tech requires a mud source to be performed.
  • The opponent can simply block it with a Water or Earth Wall.

The user will do 4 hand seals a have rock pillars around the opponent rise from the ground. They are controlled to surround the opponent leaving them trapped. Now the pillars move quick fast when rising, their purpose is simply to trap nothing more. The opponent if caught would take them some time to free themselves before you send an attack. You will have a window of attack. Simple ways if you are stuck in the prison is cutting it with a sword running lightning, or slicing them with wind. Its best cutting them off.

An extremely basic defensive technique. The user will place their hands on the ground rising a large wall upfront of them to block frontal attacks. Note the user can not see through the wall. Its sturdy enough to stop most projectile based techniques. Now as said you can not see through the wall so you can be surprised by attacks from the sides, above or even underground so anticipate an attack from those areas.

Description: This technique lets the user summon a river of mud infront of them. This technique can have water added to it to speed up the flow and increase its power.

The opponent will create a river up front of them and send it towards the opponent, the river is made of mud and runs slow alone, so its best to add some water to speed it up and have a more impact power. If an opponent is caught they will have restricted movement due to the heaviness of the mud as well as be pushed back. The rver goes up to mid long range. After making the mud you cna go onto another tech making it combo friendly. I would personally heat up the mud and give it a higher attack potency. Its also quick to perform but the river is straightforward and easy to evade.

Creative uses/strengths:
  • Pretty fast
  • Can trap the opponent giving the time window to attack him multiple times.
  • The opponent can be finished off easily.
Drawbacks/counters:
  • If the opponent is proficient enough in Kenjutsu, he can cut through it pretty fast.
  • A master of wind can infuse his wind chakra in his blade and cut through the pillars.

The reason I could not answer is that it's hard to say. But the purpose is to mainly trap an opponent. I personally don't know myself why it would not have damage points but it can kill someone. To harden the mud requires to learn a certain ninjutsu called Assimilate All Creation Technique.

Description: Using this jutsu, a person can hide underground until they're ready to attack an opponent by merging with the ground itself. By utilizing earth-chakra, the person can stealthily emerge from the ground without disrupting the ground around him. The disadvantage with this technique is that merging with the ground is rather slow and while perfomring the technique, the user is vulnerable to high ranked Earth techniques. The user isn't hidden from doujutsu or sensory ninjas and cannot travel beyond the 3 meter deep mark. Moving around in the ground is slow and the user cannot sense very well what is happening above.

This is mainly an evasion jutsu or set up jutsu. The user will slowly drop into the ground for either evading jutsus or escaping tough situations. Its very quick and simple to use. The other main way to use it, is that you can snick attack an opponent, a tough thing is you will be unable to sense anything down their so you must remember the opponents position. Also if an opponent figures out your underground your severely handicapped because you will be unable to perform any jutsu while underground. While rising from the ground though no opponent will be able to notice a disruption since its very silent. Its a great assassination type jutsu.

Description: The user will first perform the required hand seals Rabbit → Boar → Rat → Horse → Tiger → Snake and slamming the hands on the ground, the user can, by flowing concentrated chakra into the Dragon Veins flowing underground, tear the earth apart, creating large chasms by raising the earth in two oposite sides in the desired location and then splitting that piece of earth through the center. The length, width, direction, and curve of the chasm are all up to the user. Manipulating the Dragon Veins requires fine chakra control, but if one has such skill, they can use this technique to divide the space between the enemy and their own team in two, destroy enemy camps or defences, and even to attack.
Note: This does not split the earth appart directly to cause opponents to fall in the fissure.

After doing the required hand seals and placing their hands on the ground they concentrate chakra into the dragon veins of the ground and split the ground apart. The user has full control how and where they want the earth to be torn, this is very efficient jutsu to change the terrain in your favor. For example splitting the ground between you and the opponent this can stop a fast opponent from getting in close as well as push them back. A problem with the jutsu is it takes some time to perform as well as execute, this can easily leave you open for attacks. If their is a dramatic terrain change you can use this to manipulate it in your favor. As shown in the anime the trees were filled with Amaterasu flames, Yamato split the earth apart where they flames where so they can bypass them unharmed. Depending on how much chakra you add the larger it will be.

Description: After performing snake hand seal the user slams their hand on the ground. The result is that the ground becomes heavily turned up with chunks of rubble popping out of the ground. This technique is used as a means to distract opponents to either create an escape or follow through with a surprise attack although it can also do some damage or be udes to destroy enemy earth techniques of equal rank and bellow.

A basic deception attack, after doing the hand seal and slamming their hand on the ground. The ground ahead of the user and up to mid-range begins to shake slightly, which will not hurt the balance but its what happens. Chunks of rocks will pop out very quickly. This is meant to shock or decieve the opponent in thinking its an attack where it really does not, so the opponent will react and go on the defensive or change their stance. You can quickly attack right after you slam your hand on the ground making it a nice jutsu for combo. You can also flee the area if needed in the NW.
