1. Yes Hashirama and Tobirama were at 50-70%, But hiruzen was also at 50-70%, because he was old and didn't have the the chakra reserves or the strength and speed that he used to have. So if anything hiruzen and tobirama and hashirama were all equal.

The question you should be asking is who else in the situation at that time could have single handedly defeated Hashirama and Tobirama at that time, even with them that handicapped. The answer is NO ONE!!! Only Hiruzen could.

Orochimaru was in his prime during that time, he had his arms and all his jutsu and hiruzen was still able to best him in terms of ninjutsu even though he was old and didn't have the reserves he once had. So this was a 3 vs 1 handicapped match and orochimaru had the upperhand. Hiruzen was still able to come thru with a victory and extremely cripple oro (something no other character in the manga has been able to accomplish).

There is no one in the Manga who could have defeated those three, and he was far out of his prime. You guys should respect, his because obviously kishi made him kage for a reason. He mastered every jutsu in the leaf (except KKG), and could use them all. He also mastered all forms of shinobi combat. Hiruzen is the most skillfulled shinobi kishi ever created. He deserves massive respect.
