Just wanna clear up what Shunshin is - a high speed movement technique which is mainly used to cover distances.

In a battle, Shunshin isn't much of a factor if two shinobi have comparable speed/reaction feats. Shunshin only really becomes factor when you're facing techniques which can completely devastate an area i.e. PS slash or Gojou Kibakufudu, there's more but these are the only ones which come to mind. Shunshin also becomes a factor when one shinobi's Shunshin far outclasses another person's Shunshin i.e. Ay and Mei.

Anyway, striking speed is more of a factor in CQC rather than Shunshin and so if a person has faster striking speed, it plays more of an advantage than faster Shunhin. For example, if Gai and Ay , Gai would have the advantage due to having superior striking speed, especially in Gates (Morning Peacock).

This scan pretty much covers it up:

-Diana tells Clark she's faster than him in the previous page.
-The main focus here is what Bruce says, 'Who's faster, Usain Bolt or Bruce Lee?'

Edit - please pay attention to the bold.

Shunsin is still viable in combat. Redirect yourself to Deidara vs Sasuke. Sasuke blitzed Obito with Shunsin and Obito claimed he was too fast for him.

Pretty sure Obito was fooling around.

Also, redirect yourself to the part where I said it becomes a factor when one far outclasses the other in Shunshin.

It's true that Shunsin isn't all that important in battle, but I still think Base Speed is more important than striking speed.
It's necessary to dodge attacks or get within striking range.

With superior striking speed you can counter. Martial artists don't really dodge/evade in CQC, they match their opponent's fists with their own.

Certainly...
Combat speed plays vital role in hand-to-hand combat on aggression... One can get into an advantageous posture so quickly that the opponent has no chance of getting into favorable situation...

Striking speed comes handy in a defensive state, considering above situation... Opponent is quick on feet and gets into a better posture to strike but striking speed play it's role here and the one faster at striking'd win...

Technically, Minato using his shunshin can evade any attack but that wasn't when Juubito with far superior striking speed ripped off his arm easily...

I think this thread is really good, but there are some things I'd like to address. Body flicker does have combat uses. The first and most obvious one is that it can be used to control the distance between an opponent. In other words, It's good for evasion and preventing escape. Second is that a ninja can make use of body flicker to make a super fast initial attack. This would explain these 2 instances.

If a ninja is at point A and a ninja is at a distant location known as point B, he could attack with body flicker simultaneously making an attack that's difficult to defend against the ninja at point B.

Body flicker could be very useful for hit and run attacks. That being said, it essentially becomes useless in an actual dedicated close quarters fight. This could be why opponents can actually hit KCM Naruto despite having the fastest body flicker speed alive.

I dissagree about Guy vs Ay. Lightning armor clearly enhances base speed as well.

Right, this is mainly to do with CQC. Nagato was using some kind of ethereal dragon against Hanzo and Minato was using Hiraishin against Obito, who can phase through almost any attack. Those scenarios can't really be applied to this thread.

I agree with what you said except for the bold

Even with his raiton armor on, Even lee and kimimaro have shown faster striking speed with the use of their hands, legs and etc.

As for the thread, I agree pretty much.

Shunshin/Body flicker = foot speed = Usian bolt = Minato

combat speed = punch speed or kick speed = Bruce Lee = Neji

even noobs can comprehend this.
Yep. Thought this was obvious. It's probably why Minato didn't blitz Obito into the ground.

Gated Lee + leg weights off = monster.

Not all of us have the databooks. I myself wasn't aware of body flicker until I read about it in Narutowikia.

What makes you think Lee and Guy have faster movement speeds aside from the gates?
Kimimaro and Lee have demonstrated imo faster striking speed with the use of their hands and legs. If you read the fight between kimimaro and lee and compare their hand movement to that of Ay's and their legs, kimimaro and lee are definitely faster when it comes to striking speed.

Made a thread exactly like this about 3 times in my time here. It's mainly ftg fanboys who does not know the difference. Gai and elite hyugas striking speed are the best shown so far.

But Sasuke was equal to Lee in movement speed stated by Guy himself, and he got owned by A in a CQB situation with no initial movement.
