you do realize the anime does that too ? Hell, Kakashi's novel even mentioned the Blood Prison, if I'm correct.

The novels have a different version of Blood Prison's events though. And SSStylish is right, in the end, "canon" is mostly what fans care about, and it's up to you whether you consider them canon or not.

Unanswered questions...

Manga is over. This is all we are gonna get

Sure, I know that, I'd just rather know more about Kaguya, Mito, the Ootsutsuki, Hashirma's sage mode, the other villages, Mei, etc than Shikamaru fighting a fodder genjutsu user or Gaara getting some or Sakura chasing after sasuke again. Those are far more relevant thing than what the novels are actually covering.

The more he will elaborate on that, the more plotholes will be created.Better just plug in the existing holes than creating new ones

Not if you're smart. Even I could fix up those plot holes.

And what are those diffirent events ? Anyways, I don't mind viewing these as canon, but point is, they're not.

I don't really know since I never read the novels myself, just comments from translators. And again, I'm pretty sure the term "canon" is never used by Kishi, or SP, or whoever writes the books - yes, there are other franchises that actually establish what is canon and what isn't, or primarily/secondary canon, but it's not the case with Naruto, where it's decided by the fandom. If you consider "canon" to be strictly manga, then sure, everything else isn't.

I'd say it happens more like, "Hey Kishi, how about we write novels based off your work? You'll get your royalties, of course!" - "Sure, why not?", and not like, "Hey Kishi, please check whether everything we write in these novels corresponds to your well-defined canon" - "Of course, I'm going to check thoroughly". It's not like Kishi himself is very attentive to his own story's inner consistencies, either

I'd take Kishi's word for it over any fan's word anyday. I have never herd this statement where fans can decide what is canon and what is not. In that case then I can claim any filler is canon when in reality it is not.

In fact, Has Kishimoto ever called anything canon/non-canon...It's all just fandom speculation...and apparently most people in this fandom have an agenda. So they aren't too trustworthy.

He called the Naruto the Last movie canon.

Why are people so obsessed with it not being canon? Do creators even declare certain stuff canon all the time? I doubt that. It fits in the story and explains some unexplained stuff. So I have absolutely no problem with it being canon. If it's not, well, too bad, but whatever.

If the creator did it with the Last movie, why can he not do it with these novels? If you wanna believe this fanfiction, I don't give a shit. But in terms of sharing feats of it how ever will always be questionable. Till the official word is out that these are legit sources.

That's not really what I mean. What I mean is, and what SSStylish said, authors care less about such things. Even Kishi's own manga and databooks have inconsistencies, which we can argue about for ages, when in reality, it was just him not planning ahead (he talks about that in that latest lengthy interview), caring more about telling the exciting story etc. than paying attention to little detail.

In other words, Kishi is human, and so are other content creators, and in many cases they care the most about popularity and sales (which is, by the way, completely normal). Besides, Kishi still "approves" any official licensed Naruto-related stuff since he holds the copyright and all that.

Did he? from what i read the 699.5 thing came from the translator, not Kishi...but that could've also been manipulated.

I personally have no problem with this "secondary canon" stuff, as long as it doesn't create obvious contradictions. I like new things that add to the story.

If the author cares less about such things then why should we sit around thinking its canon because it feels canon? I mean I have no problems with people reading this at all. My only beef is with people who claim its canon and use this sort of source to justify anything. Because in reality there will always be a question mark if this stuff is legit or not.

699.5 was on the last Naruto website translated by TakL
There is not much difference between this movie and the novels as both weren't written by the author except that Kishi approved the last as canon because it involved Naruto's love life while the novels are just approved by him.He probably doesn't even read these novels as the major plot hole of NH was explained by Pierott for him and he can't be assed with the rest.He is just getting royalty from it and that's all that matters. The other plot holes are not significant enough for him to be plugged
