‘izanagi’ –a sharingan ocular jutsu, a kinjutsu for uchiha clan in fear of the truth to lose eyesight. ---this means that an uchiha can use this genjutsu as a descendant of the the so6p.
-to further share my thoughts; we read and saw the jutsu casted by danzo and tobi – where the “destiny” referred to is to “be alive” during the battle and win –in lieu of losing the sharingan eye.

nice prediction you got there. But why did itachi needs to use izanagi. Also if itachi has stopped edo tensei then how will madara come back?????????

No, actually Izanagi is a pair of Izanami. It took Danzo both Uchiha and Senju blood to use Izanagi. So, the same goes for izanami. If Izanagi can change destiny, izanami can decide it. This is what Itachi said. If Izanagi makes reality a genjutsu, then Izanami makes reality into genjutsu.

How do you think that itachi can use izanagi???????
I think itachi himself can stop edo tensei using izanami.
If itachi's eyes regenerates after izanami then it will be too op and he will become demigod or something.
But i guess the seal which stops edo tensei will be different from the one which activates it.

Let Izanami like everyone says turns genjutsu into reality.
Itachi makes kabuto think that he stopped edo tensei with his tsukiyomi then with izanami's power it will be become real. Somehow edo madara will not be stopped.

you are right. izanagi and izanami are pairs of kinjutsu(forbidden arts). izanami will not be complete without izanagi (i think).

uchihas can use the jutsus completely. they lose their eyes in return.
non-uchihas could use the jutsus with incomplete casts(danzo for example).

we might be surprised, madara used izanami before. this jutsu is one good reason why tobi could not show his face, and that he uses different sharingans. TOBI is MADARA. tobi-madara is the old wasted madara who went completely blind because he casted izanagi and izanami on hashirama.

this is just another pred of mine.


on topic... kinjutsus (izanagi and izanami - complete genjutsu pair and more powerful) versus another kinjutsu (in edo tensei) is a nullifying equation to end forbidden arts.

sasuke will make the last cast in "legal ems tsukuyumi".

kabuto will fall.

itachi has sharingan. izanagi is possible jutsu for him though he knows he will lose his eyesight.
using izanami only will be too predictable to kabuto. kabuto is a shrewd serpent for a single jutsu. kabuto needs a pair of baffling jutsus to be caught open.
itachi being immortal is already over powering. add up his being a genius. a regenerative set of eyes will be too much as well. but sealing tech will do against him. death god will surely scare itachi. he is not a demigod. he is like a god as he is. and edo-madara too.
hand seals to dispel edo tensei done by kabuto himself will end this kinjutsu - under genjutsu or not.

izanami will be a jutsu to decide destiny - this is clear to me. a genjutsu or any jutsu --if under izanami will decide reality--hence destiny. izanami, the goddess, was lost in darkness. izanagi tried to bring her back, but failed.
izanagi first, then izanami second...as a protection of the one who casts it.

edo-madara will be stopped. itachi could, a simple trust of the totsuka blade will do. edo-madara madara is not aware of it.
or sasuke will cast a powerful genjustu to kabuto and make kabuto make the releasing hand seals.
bye bye edos --- including madara.

I have a little theory in my mind and be free to correct me if I am wrong in any way.

If I am right, the sage of six paths used the Cration of All Things to divide the Ten Tails' chakra into nine parts. If Izanagi and Izanami are the parts of this jutsu then he used Izanagi to turn the reality into illusion(let's just say he turned the Ten Tails' chakra into nine parts in illusionary way) so he must have used Izanami to turn this illusion into reality(he made real these nine parts). I don't know if using Izanagi costed him one eye, but if it didn't, did Izanami make him some damage?

According to the mythology, Izanami's body started to rotten when she was in the underworld, but why wouldn't it be the case with the users of this jutsu? In my opinion, the sage of six paths died of the consequences of using Izanami(although we know he only used it once), just like the cost of Izanagi is the loss of one eye. So, it is logical to assume that Itachi did used it once during his lifetime, since he was dying of a disease we don't know the cause or anything about it. My guess is that he learned about the jutsu from the stone tablet, but he didn't know the side effects and used it anyway to save his life, Konoha or maybe Sasuke in a way.

And I also believe that Izanagi(and Izanami) can be used by full blood Uchihas without Senju DNA and I also have two arguments for that:
1) Itachi is going to use Izanami without Senju DNA, since we know that if he had it, he wouldn't burn the crow carrying Kotoamatsukami. He would use it for later, I'm sure of it.
2)Tobi states that Izanagi is a forbidden jutsu among the Uchihas(probably because of the cost), but how did the Uchihas declare it as a forbidden jutsu? My thoughts are that how to use Izanagi(or maybe an indication) is written on the stone tablet and Uchihas started to use it, but they saw what started to happen to their eyes and I really doubt they had Senju(Hashirama) DNA with them, so I deduce that full blooded Uchihas can use Izanagi and Izanami without Senju DNA. From this, we can deduce that Tobi probably isn't an Uchiha since he had to use Hashirama's cells to use Izanagi. But does Senju DNA improves the usage of Izanagi/Izanami or is it just to connect closer the user of Izanagi/Izanami to the sage of six paths in a way 'to make them blood relatives'?

If Izanagi and Izanami are the parts of this jutsu then he used Izanagi to turn the reality into illusion(let's just say he turned the Ten Tails' chakra into nine parts in illusionary way) so he must have used Izanami to turn this illusion into reality(he made real these nine parts). I don't know if using Izanagi costed him one eye, but if it didn't, did Izanami make him some damage?

According to the mythology, Izanami's body started to rotten when she was in the underworld, but why wouldn't it be the case with the users of this jutsu? In my opinion, the sage of six paths died of the consequences of using Izanami(although we know he only used it once), just like the cost of Izanagi is the loss of one eye. So, it is logical to assume that Itachi did used it once during his lifetime, since he was dying of a disease we don't know the cause or anything about it. My guess is that he learned about the jutsu from the stone tablet, but he didn't know the side effects and used it anyway to save his life, Konoha or maybe Sasuke in a way.

And I also believe that Izanagi(and Izanami) can be used by full blood Uchihas without Senju DNA and I also have two arguments for that:
1) Itachi is going to use Izanami without Senju DNA, since we know that if he had it, he wouldn't burn the crow carrying Kotoamatsukami. He would use it for later, I'm sure of it.
2)Tobi states that Izanagi is a forbidden jutsu among the Uchihas(probably because of the cost), but how did the Uchihas declare it as a forbidden jutsu? My thoughts are that how to use Izanagi(or maybe an indication) is written on the stone tablet and Uchihas started to use it, but they saw what started to happen to their eyes and I really doubt they had Senju(Hashirama) DNA with them, so I deduce that full blooded Uchihas can use Izanagi and Izanami without Senju DNA. From this, we can deduce that Tobi probably isn't an Uchiha since he had to use Hashirama's cells to use Izanagi. But does Senju DNA improves the usage of Izanagi/Izanami or is it just to connect closer the user of Izanagi/Izanami to the sage of six paths in a way 'to make them blood relatives'?

izanagi and izanami are originally two of the so6p's powers. these forbidden jutsus for the uchihas COULD NOT be forbidden for the so6p (my opinion). the so6p performing the arts had not lose any "RINNNEGAN EYES". he died of old age, just like us. rinnegan eyes are the ultimate set of eyes to possess. but take note, it depends on THE USER. the rinnegan was originally the so6p's. is there any other persons to use the eyes? well, after 581 current chaps, we saw nagato, tobi and edo madara use the eyes. if there were others contemporary to the so6p? i deem the juubi, and no one or nothing else. hoping to have answered you...

Japanese Myths and Naruto Manga are two different worlds. these worlds share terms and ideologies similar and quite different applications to tickle our imaginations.
itachi overused his eyes. itachi's eyes did not decay. he knew about the kinjutsus izanagi and izanami - because he is the genius we know. he did not use the forbidden arts so not to lose his precious eyes. i think he knows about the tablets as he told sasuke. and i want him to teach sasuke a lot more...and Naruto too.

lastly, we share the same thought on itachi carrying out izanagi and izanami. i believe he would cast the jutsus to kabuto. never mind what tobi said.
we differ in tobi as an uchiha. tobi is madara(for me). tobi-madara says about having senju dna to perform the kinjutsus because it is hard to obtain the precious dna. tobi-madara is a former uchiha and a shell of madara. tobi is madara's old and wasted body (edo-madara has the soul). tobi-madara uses senju dna to live long, to have tremendous chakra and to use the powers of sharingan and rinnegan.
senju dna indeed magnifies the power of sharingan to cast izanagi and izanami. and, uchiha and senju are indeed distant blood relatives - this is according to the manga's blood lineage chap after chap.

so, aren't you afraid edo-madara and tobi madara performing the kinjutsus? i am. but, i just think the arts need preparations - as itachi said.
but i do think edo-madara and tobi-madara could use the forbidden arts. they just have to prepare them properly. how? let us wait itachi to tell us..agree?
