Depending on the context, could also mean "original poster," but overpowered is the most likely intended meaning in these threads.

Just a shot in the dark... but I feel like it will turn out to be like a jutsu within a jutsu. One must be cast right after the other for it to be complete. I.E. in a pair as Itachi states.

Itachi casts izanagi on himself to feign death (an illusion), it doesn't work on Kabuto because Kabuto knows Itachi cannot be killed, Itachi is already dead. So Itachi casts Izanami to resurrect himself (another illusion/dream to Itachi, but a reality to everyone else) immediately after casting izanagi. Since both the soul was brought back and a newly created body with the correct DNA thanks to the edo-tensei it is possible. But because Itachi in his illusion is still an edo, then the kinjutsu has no effect on his eyes.
In order for Kabuto to kill the resurrected Itachi, he has to release the edo-tensei, then it will be as if Itachi never performed Izanami (destroying Itachi's illusions of himself completing both jutsus) ending the edo and killing Itachi at the same time.

In the event that the Izanami Technique requires Senju DNA (which it should, since Izanagi did), then I'm utterly and completely mind****ed. I mean, since when did Itachi have Senju DNA ? That's just ridiculous. It's like the entire narutoverse has a fetish for Hashirama's cells or some shit.

If you think about it, the Uchiha and the Senju are one people, and so, maybe some lucky Uchiha have some Senju traits, and vice versa

if izanagi turns reality into illusion, then its logical to assume that izanami turns illusions into reality. and also, when itachi said it forms a pair with izanagi, i thought that SO6P used both izanagi and izanami to create ninjutsu, tailed beasts etc.

If "Izanami" is called to build a pair with "Izanagi" and it would work just the other way.
Izanagi= Reallity into Genjutsu, and Izanami=Genjutsu into Reallity.
So i think you won´t lose your eyesight!
Because "the opposite" What if Itachi unlocks, just as Madara did the "Rinnegan"?!?!?!
These Uchiha that know about "Izanami" are too scared too use it because, its not written down what are the risks, costs of this jutsu.
It just unlocks the Rinnegan ^^ That would be epic and not so far away i would say.

What if it instead of taking your eye's light it takes the other users and like gives it to you... Than Itachi would obtain complete light in his eyes like Sasuke. Even though theres like a 2% chance cause you usualy need to replace a sharingan light w/ sharingan light. But wouldn't it be cool? Itachi and Sasuke having EMS!

Anyway it might be true, but I bet that Tobi and Madara knows about this technique really well, since they're veteran uchihas, and Madara was the first one to read tablet..

No, actually Izanagi is a pair of Izanami. It took Danzo both Uchiha and Senju blood to use Izanagi. So, the same goes for izanami. If Izanagi can change destiny, izanami can decide it. This is what Itachi said. If Izanagi makes reality a genjutsu, then Izanami makes reality into genjutsu.

maybe that's what madara used in the beginning of his fight with the 5 kage. Izanagi to create the giant meteor - Izanami to make it a reality, thus, taking both his eyes and with him being in the blast radius - he died; but the do tensei revived him with both his eyes once again
