Well i always thought he could because kisame showed defense to itachi genjutsu so i don't think that'll work on kisame. And in fighting skills, kisame defeated killer bee which defeated sasuke, which some how defeated itachi. Kisame has more chakra than itachi, so in my opinion i believe kisame surpasses itachi in many areas. Accept brains of course basically what i'm trying to say is the only way itachi would win is to out think kisame. If he go susano'o it'll weaken him but that those to factors are itachi's trump cards. Cause kisame fought many powerful opponents, and no one accept guy beat him, but kisame was trying to escape not fight but what's done is done. But money is on kisame.

The main reason nearly everyone feared Itachi was due to his intelligence. That being said could Itachi survive against the people that feared him? I don't know. I think its a pretty even side by side. Kisame can probably easily kill itachi and so can Itachi kill Kisame. the same with danzo and tobi.

Also power flucuates at ridiculous levels in naruto. One moment the rasengan is low mountain busting the next it can't even cut down a tree. Amertersu can burn through things that are immune to lave instantly, the next they have trouble burning throw flesh. one moment Kisame can barely dodge Asuna the next he is trading blows gates Gai sensei.

Under what grounds? Kisame can't even avoid Amaterasu and Kisame has no counter for genjutsu. Itachi is not just deadly but very skilled and has a much keener eye in battle.

Really, Kisame looses almost negative difficulty if itachi goes at him with killing intent. He has no counter to tsukiyomi, a gnjutsu that takes place instantly. No one will even be able to react an help him break free. Manga fact: If you aren't uchiha, you cant break tsukiyomi.

Itachi has like 4 techniques to one shot kisame.

Kisame knowing he's in genjutsu can have samahade disrupt the chakra flow

If i remembercorrectly, samehada has sensing ability, thus can sense the chakra sent from the caster and into Kismae. Since genjutsu is a separate sent andchannelled into itsopponent brain (cerebral) i dont see how/why samehada couldnt disrupt the affects of genjutsu

Strength varies, each has certain advantages over the other. Logically Itachi is a better/easier victir over Jman, theyre all equally strong in their own right. Regardless, im not concerned about what was said, but rather what has been displayed. Kismae has chamces against Itachi
