Can Itachi defeat Konoha like Nagato?

I see kisame and itachi losing because konoha when dealing with pain had 7 opponents+all of those summons (the six paths and konan) so Konoha's forces need to be spread throughout the village. now picture all of the jonin+ a few s class fighters all ganging up on kisame and itachi. kakashi,naruto and tsunade alone are enough to give itachi or kisame trouble. konoha still has shikamaru and shikaku to formulate strategy's to counter there ability's. You need to take into account that all jonins are still really skilled and both kisame and itachi will need to do more then just throw a kuni at them.Being strong is not in advantage against so many opponents stamina is necessary. Two invaders compared to seven is a huge difference konoha can easily overwhelm the two of them no problem.

But its a surprise attack, earlier they infiltrated quite easily and once theyre in they can do a lot of damage in a short time. And Kisame can create a huge lake in an instant and summons sharks.

Surprise attack or not locating two enemy's and formulating counters for there ability's is not that difficult konoha was dealing with the rinnegan a doujutsu thought to only belong to the sage of six paths so nobody was aware of its capability's and developing counters was near impossible yet just a few jonin just by encountering the deva path were able to figure out in just one battle key knowledge in countering his ability's. based off this common stuff like the sharingan and powerful water jutsu shouldn't be to difficult to counter. Two people are not going to do much damage before getting detected because its only two people compared to pains, konan and summons.

As for the bolded part: I think if its Kisame and Itachi they could do much damage but I agree with the rest.

Itachi doesn't have the appropriate stamina to defeat an entire village. He may take a good chunk out, but his reserves will be cut severely after fighting shinobi who'll push him to use the MS, like Kakashi. Or shinobi who can possibly win, like Gai.

Amaterasu and Susanoo will draw a lot of attention, and as he'll be one guy all Konoha's forces will be focused on him. Unlike Pain where Konoha were tricked in thinking there was one foe, but turned out there were seven and they had to spread their forces across the village to find Pain.
With Itachi it will be a "focus on him". Though Itachi can slip by undetected according to Pain-Konan, but the use of Amaterasu and Susanoo will be bad. He can damage Konoha, but I don't see him destroying it.

adding tsunade as a back up is an overkill for itachi

But I thought the question implied that Tobi sent Itachi and Kisame to konoha instead of Pein, so Naruto is training on Mount Myoboku. And Itachi took down Kakashi with tsukoyomi once within 1 second.

So you take out the hardest hitter?

The village will have no problem with those two, in part 1 Itachi did not want to have to fight the entire village because its suicide unless your a Rinnegan user. Or a TB.

Itachi''s fighting style and abilities is most suited for 1 vs 1 situations and in that scenario only a handful of people are favourites to win and even that a win isnt guaranteed.

He doesnt have stamina or destructive power of nagato to solo konoha. Deidora would accomplish a greater tasks soloing konoha than itachi and even nagato, but that doesnt mean he is stronger than either, its just his abilities that will allow him to do this

Only an idiot will even think Itachi can do one third of the damage Nagato did.Itachi doesn't have one jutsu that can be compare in scale to those of Nagato's jutsu.I mean, Nagato summonings alone did more damage then Itachi could do by himself.Throw in Shinra Tensei and Chibaku Tensei then tell me what jutsu Itach ihas that can do as much damage as Nagato's jutsus.

They dont know the full extent of Itachi ablites. At a high enough vantage point can get the whole village in his sight. And they don't know of his susano'o or spirit items. Not one can brake his genjutsu. And in the first part he didn't want to fight because he loved the village and made an excuse not to fight, and could have killed them with out Kisame. And Kisame is know as the zero tailed beast.
