Being called a hero is stretching it, however making a transition that is judged harshly while knowing you're in the spotlight of the public is a brave choice. Then again this could just be for publicity.

I'm pretty sure the praise is because she went through with it and is now in skin she can be truly happy and proud in. The transition isn't an easy one, so people are giving her kudos and support for being able to go through with it. People are just happy for her.

Yet others are supported a lot less, (e.g army vets, single mom's, etc) than this. Some army vets cannot get jobs and are homeless. Like I said, society has it backwards

I won't debate about it as the thread is not about that but you can't help with what gender you are born just like you supposedly can't help who you're attracted too. To say that you were not born your right gender is foolish

Not true. I've seen on Twitter and tumblr lots of people voicing support for transsexuals. I don't understand why it's surprising that if a celebrity/famous person does it, it gets more attention than a non-famous person. Hint: It's because they're famous, of course it's gonna be known to more people. And it's still a good thing. Supporting Caitlyn means not just support for her, but for transsexuals as a whole. Other transsexuals who see the positive feedback towards Caitlyn will see that there are people who don't view them as lesser; they'll know it's okay to be who they are.

I agree with you on that. Negativity can be quite detrimental but sometimes you can't help it. I personally am disgusted by trannies but that doesn't mean I am going to eradicate them or treat them worse.

It has nothing to do with the act. Ppl are quick to support transgender ppl over those who are poor (because of stereotypes). What organization or ppl do you so see giving supporty to the homeless like the support that he/she is getting?

It's because she's a well known celebrity and it's way harder for someone like her who's been known for so long to suddenly tell. If she didn't publicize it then it would be another secret for her to hide. I don't consider her a hero nor do I actually believe that her body is fully a woman but I would address her as one and at least she can now identify herself as one.
