As for the record,viz or shounen jump also released the details of naruto manga being sold 188 million outside japan and 113 million in japan by the end of volume 36. That equals 301 million worldwide.

if the average american knew as much about manga as an average Japanese manga fan Naruto wouldn't be 1st, second or even 3rd, it would be similar to Japan, it would be about 5th to 10th

and Bleach wouldn't be second it would drop drastically

not that sales really matter but they are a nice perk for the OP fans, for example berserk and phoenix aren't up there but they stomp down and burn all the manga up there but 1 imho

and comparing cricket to manga i stupid, if you want to compare something you have to pick sports as a whole (cricket would only equal one single manga series), but even that is a poor example because sports is is popular world wide while noone in their right mind would even attempt to argue that the west is even remotely close to being as into manga as Japan

Exactly, manga isn't popular in America so it wouldn't make sense to use their rankings to measure how "good" the series is.

I noticed quite a funny theme with people who "hate" OP, they're all from India. Probably because they never given OP a try. OP does live up to the hype it gets, unlike your praised series Naruto where kishi had to use HxH as a template to kick start the series. OP is worthy for #1 status considering how long it's been running for and it's been really successful. Oda rarely ever disappoints the fans, just cause people like the series doesn't they're "OPtards". People know it has flaws but they are small in comparison to the overall plot and when you compare it to other seires.

Anyways, OP is #1 in Japan and that's all that matters. Japan is the birth place for manga anyways. Americans don't read manga as much and in fact anime/manga isn't popular in other places as well cause it's looked down upon. So using American sales, isn't a good indicator due to the negativity manga/anime series get, even Naruto gets negativity from Americans.

-India is not a big market for a manga and anime, you guys are quite new when it comes to manga and lot more stuff.... just because its not popular in your country doesn't mean its not popular in other country, am talking about Asia as a whole not just one country.

Well my good friend tell me something. In a new market,if you want to endorse a business of say manga/anime,which product will you give priority? The less popular ones or more popular ones? We are new,doesn't mean we live in stone age to not know what we are being provided with. I for one will introduce people of new market with the most popular ones first,so that they can quickly adapt the quality and merchandise,however you want to call it.

and than the next line u say One Piece has 350 m copies sold, which is indeed the most selling manga in the world

so something is wrong with your numbers cause what we do know for sure is that One Piece has most sales
