Well because originally we all thought it was gonna be canon, it was following the manga closely and then out of nowhere takes this random route. That's shock value, well at least it was for me. But I agree, it's kind of cool. Plus iNoto posted the list of the next few weeks episodes and it looks dope.

Well shonen anime have filler which kind of gives you an idea of some non canon story mixed in with canon episodes. But they also release chapters every week.
I thought bleach had good filler episodes, that's what I was thinking of. I've never ever watched a Naruto filter but I like the idea of Tobi being someone different.
Mkay, I remember seeing spoilers for that. I wonder if Izou had something to do with those swordsmen guys, as their fighting techniques (iaido) are similar. Also, lol, more Buderp hype.
