Well he is "sage" of six path, if he was a sage that basically means he can use senjutsu, which also means he can balance senjutsu chakra with the complete juubi(OP) , with fully mastered rinnegan. I think juubito is not yet on par with So6P. Thanks.

Seriously, even gaara can handle itachi, he simply stays in his sand and uses a third eye: tsukyomi countered he blocked sasuke amaterasu itachi's would pose no problem and would easily be blocked therefore susanoo is left, since itachi susanoo has no legs or lower part gaara can use the sand...
