In the anime the coffin has a number 4 on it so it is implied that the fourth coffin has minato inside, however in the manga its just another coffin. Orochimaru didn't perfect the technique as well as kabuto did so it was easily stopped, Orochimaru was also very arrogant and didn't think it bothered whether he had the last coffin.
this was all before shippuden when more was explained about the 9 tails and how it was sealed so its natural for it to be a little non canon.

Stop letting fanboyism get in the way of common sense and read the manga. They were mindless puppets(with no sense or conscience)so they didnt recognize the tags could harm them. If they had their personalities, they would had goten rid of the tags and made quick work of hiruzen.

I'm really confused. Why does this thread have over 800 posts. I mean, I just read the OP's post and all he really talked about was the identity of the 3rd coffin and why it couldn't be summoned. Surely wasn't that issue resolved in the first page alone?
