Well, FC Barcelona and Manchester United FC will clash on Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 28 May, once more since the 2008 Final.

Both team are dominating the European Scene since 2006. To note is that Manchester is playing his 3rd Final in 4 years (one which he won) and Barcelona won 2 since 2006.

As per UEFA rankings, Manchester is first for the moment.

On the statistics part,

I don't really believe in stats but it can be noted that Manchester has the best defense this season while Barcelona has the best offense this season (along with best striker Messi).

Who'll win according to you?
I'm a die-hard ManU fan since really long, so I'm completely hoping that another silverware is added to our trophy lists xd Go ManU.

Man.Utd will take 2:1 against Barca , besides Barca fakes and acts too much , like seriously WTF BARCA!? , but GL to both teams !
Well, that will help especially for Alves. He could get place in cinema or theater after retirement. Seriously, Alves fakes an injury, cries like a baby for 5 minutes as if someone just cut down all his genitals and 5 minutes later, he's still in the match running as fast as Messi.

I don't think it's gonna be that easy for barca to score, Man United's defense is quite powerful with Vidic and Ferdinand they like a brick wall. This is a tough one tho it can go either way if both teams play their cards right.

BARCA FTW 3-0
ManU is good and all but Messi is in a league of his own.
if this man is in good shape that day i just dont see any defender stopping him unless he wants to go off with a red card.

First off name a single team that has not had players who dived? the team or players on the team don't tell so and so to dive, so quit blaming the team and blame either players or refs (for making the wrong decisions)

Every team has had players who dive or go down easy when they could stay up either refs catch them or they give yellow card (By bad decisions calling). Their isn't a single game were you see someone not diving. Real Madrid, Man U, Chelsea, Barcelona, Liverpool, AC Milan, Inter, etc have had divers on their teams which played in their favor in present or past.

Welcome to the world of football.

Ronaldo playing with Man U was by far one of the worst diver/actor in this game and plenty of people have stated this. Diving is a part of this game anything to win, Manu have had divers and have dived for matches to go in their favor as well as any other top club have had. (Blame goes to the player who did it and the refs for the decisions blaming a club is just pathetic as most ppl are doing) Not you tho.

I'm not backing up Alves, Pedro, or Sergio B. I admit they do over react at times especially Alves and Sergio B, but you can't past judgement on them as this is a part of the game and plenty of players have done this to reach to the top either as a player or for their club.

I never blamed the club. You know that it was Alves that I criticized and the poor refs (but almost every refs are poor nowadays). It's not my fault also that some of the guys with least sportsmanship are found in Barcelona, is it :p

I agree that Ronaldo dived a lot during his first 2 years in Manchester (he changed after 2006 WC). I will not really defend him or any teams in the world but it's true that they are despicable football moments, so it's my right to despise Alves' kind of players.

Yes I know you didn't blame the club thats why at the end of me syaing that I stated, "Not you tho." so wasn't referring to you on that topic.

And of course you have the right to criticize Alves type players but even these guys do it only once in a while and its a part of the game now, I've seen Ronaldo reduce diving but he still does go down easily I mean someone at his height and strength should be powering thru defense instead going down after touches.

The fact is in every team their will be a Ronaldo like or someone pulling things like Alves, and the worst is Sergio B as its even stated and he's known for making big deals out of little things and I've even seen Xavi and Puyol get pissed at him.

But on topic Sir Alex stated that he only needs a plan to put a stop the the trio (Xavi, Inesita, Messi) and if he can do that he may stand a chance but if he lets them loose than it's pretty much over for Man U

-_- I wonder what will happen to Alves if he played against a mix-bag team composed of Puyol, Ashley Cole, Robben, Van Bommel, De Jong, Scholes, Barton, Ibrahimovic, Drogba and other top class foul-play players (hey, this almost fits in as a team lol :p)...Seriously, that's why these kind of players who play brutally exists because of players who over-simulate like Alves. Also, you say that players like CR7 should stop dive due to his height but even great caliber players like Puyol dive at times. I agree that too many dive uselessly nowadays unfortunately but the referee should stop falling into their trap and also stops the play when some real foul occurs. Sick referee disgusts me more than Alves and co. indeed...

Back on topic, I agree with Fergie but I think Messi and Iniesta can be stopped due to the overload of works and efforts that Park, Carrick, Valencia, Rooney will do along the defense. However, Xavi's passes are the most dangerous thing in this match for me.
Manchester's chances will reside on
- their counterattacks.
- good positioned defense.
- defensive efforts by wingers.
- the continuous offside trap tactic of Chicharito.
Barcelona off-course got their
- possession of ball
- quick and efficient passing mainly done by the trio Xavi-Iniesta-Messi
- the "if-do-occur" genius wake of Messi (i doubt this time a bit that he'll score a Madrid- fantasy dribble type of goal. He may score on penalties, free kicks or finishing ball perhaps)

For me, both team got something similar and that's very good understanding among players and fabulous teamwork. Barcelona and United got both two certain factor - possession and defense respectively.
The key will resides on how how well, successful and efficiently the other factors will work...
Theoretically, this match promises to be big with both teams having great chances of winning.
I hope ManU naturally....

I'm hoping man united will win because it's van der sar's last game :( I want him to win the champions league as his final game O_O
If cloning was permitted legally in football (as in PES lol), I'll immediately clone Van Der Sar. What an amazing GK indeed. He should play atleast 2 years more for me but he got his points and he made his decision firmly unfortunately. As you I'm hoping ManU wins it, leaving on with a Champions league in his hands will be awesome

Yes, your right their but just because they've done a few things that would be called sport conduct or play acting doesn't degrade these players. All the guys you have mentioned have done quiet a lot for their clubs and national team which is why they are great players despite even if they've dived or play acted. Alves was wanted by Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Milan and Inter until he resigned with Barca this yr. Drogba is wanted by Madrid and Inter, Robben has been linked with quit a bit of clubs. The thing is despite the disgusting act by them top clubs are willing to sign these players because they know how valuable they are and can win trophies with them. All this is a part of football now, I even blame refs but it's quit hard for them also as we are not in that situation poor guys get criticized for making a call or if not making a call. The only way to fix this is if FIFA decide to let refs view replays, like in NHL or NBA.

I believe Man U is the top dog right now as I am Barcelona fan and coming to Wembley we will see a whole new Barcelona team and Man U team but I just watched a Barcelona game they had today and it was a poor performance in my eyes ended 1-1 draw but they did clinch the La Liga title and now can most likely rest their starters as the next few games won't matter if they win or lose.

Messi is a hand full no matter how a good a defense is he can get thru and thats what Man U concern will be but I believe Villa and Pedro need to step up in striking as Messi will be held down by Man U defense and these guys may need to play key roles. It is the best attacking team this season VS the best defensive (May even go to PK) will see who walks away in this showdown on May 28th

A match isn't determined by a single player, but the team. Although Barca has an excellent team, but when it comes down to true team chemistry Man United is the best at it
While i agree that the whole team is a part of it, Messi's ability to score gives Barca the advantage. Hes too quick for the big strong Man U defense.

Haha, I was going comment that video replays was the solution. But I think we think alike in this case. Their are too many cheats and errors with the actual refereeing process according to me also. I even, for the temporary expulsions of players rather than the Actual Yellow/Red Card system like done with Handball/Rugby. This will certainly make some harsh players such as those mentioned to step down a bit from their roughness in play. With I'd say,

- 1 Yellow card - 15 mins out of the field
- 2 Yellow cards - 25 mins (then the player is blank again)
- 1 Direct Red Card - 30 mins.
All-in-all, that's should have been talked in another thread but this is really interesting.

Back on topic,
Manchester, indeed, played excellent with its main team against Chelsea and with its secondary team against Shalke. Still, Manchester is still the underdog here. The league matches are almost useless now for both Barca and ManU. You've the one point needed and ManU also need one point (which they'll obviously get Saturday). All-in-all, there will not be any field observation or major injury now.

I know how difficult it will be to stop Messi but it can be done as long as the team remains one as the match against Arsenal (the 1st leg) where the Gunners did well and were unfortunate due to that referee which broke their tactical methods. The first goal will be extremely crucial in this match - perhaps the match-decider.
I hate PK's as my heart beats fast on every time, I see penalties shoot-outs. God knows how I prayed hard for a miracle in 2008 when Terry was going to shoot his penalty against Van Der Sar. When he slipped, I wonder how fast my heart beats were. Still, on PKs, I still have no much worries as it's for sure that Van Der Sar will give it his all as his final match.

P.S - Speaking of final match, (attention to ManU fans mostly), on 24th May, Gary Neville will play a friendly testimonial match against Juventus. Manchester United's team will compose of all 92's class of players supposedly [with the Neville bros, Scholes, Giggs (will play part of it only due to Barca match), Nicky Butt, David Beckham (still need to confirm) and other glorious stars surely...]
