Boruto anime is indeed canon.

Ukyo isn't writing the episodes. Anyway the Novels are just the Anime episodes usually remade in episode form. He did the same for the Boruto Movie, and a few others. However, the Novels aren't canon.

Sasuke also has a novel in between Part 1 - 2.

The problem with what you said is that Kishimoto has already done this for the Academ Arc. So this point is kind of moot.

Kishimoto acknowledged the existence of Itachi and Shisui having PS in a video game by drawing it for them, but that doesn't really make it official. We have to wait for official statements. And your wrong.

^Podcast source.

Kishimoto has come out and stated that the Manga was 'canon'. But he hasn't stated the same for the Anime, only that the Academy Arc was 'approved'

I didn't say he writes the episode, I said he's part of it.

"Anyway the Novels are just the Anime episodes usually remade in episode form. He did the same for the Boruto Movie, and a few others. However, the Novels aren't canon."

Wait what? Do you mean the same Novels written by Ukyō Kodachi, or you are making reference elsewhere?

"The problem with what you said is that Kishimoto has already done this for the Academ Arc. So this point is kind of moot."

When did I advance such statement? I only stated he acknowledges the anime, meaning he agrees of its existence.

Your conclusion would make the Boruto Manga NOT canon, hope you realise that? It's an iconic twist, quite unfortunate, but if you suspect the logic would disprove my conclusion, it would also disprove the fact Boruto Manga is canon, after all Kishimoto hasn't directly stated it's canon. He only accepts its existence, allowing Ukyō Kodachi to be the writer.

Additionally, am sure why you include proposition of Kishimoto confirming Boruto is part of Naruto universe. If anything, it only cements the fact Kishimoto acknowledges the anime.

Ukyo Kodachi wrote one of the Hiden novels and it's not considered canon. Why would the Anime Novels be? Not even the Boruto Movie Novel is considered canon, and he wrote that too.

Kishimoto acknowledging its existence doesn't make it canon though.

This doesn't make any sense. You tried arguing that the Anime wouldn't be canon in correspodance to the Manga, because Kishimoto never came out and stated so. But he did, now your trying to backpedal.

Until Kishimoto actually states that the Anime is apart of the universe as a whole, which he won't because it's an ADAPTION of the Manga. It's moot.

This seems to stem from your perspective. Can you please show me where the Hiden Novels, Anime Novels, and Boruto Movie Novel were stated to be non-canon? I'm soliciting this because the thought of something being non-canon, despite it's written by the same author who's now in charge of the same particular series in which he derived the things he wrote from, is ludicrous.

"Kishimoto acknowledging its existence doesn't make it canon though."

Well he has stated he wants it to surpass Naruto. Ergo, he acknowledges it beyond just accepting it, hence why it's canon.

"This doesn't make any sense. You tried arguing that the Anime wouldn't be canon in correspodance to the Manga, because Kishimoto never came out and stated so. But he did, now your trying to backpedal."

No. I used the same logic spread out to accept the Boruto Manga as canon, to push for the acceptance of the Boruto anime as canon. You tried to incorporate a separate logic that would disprove my notion, but you failed to realise that same logic has prerogatives to disprove the very reasons that made the Boruto Manga canon.

Withal, your last statement seem to be based on argument from incredulity. Like you don't personally believe that the anime is canon, and your reasons for your stance against the acceptance of Boruto anime being canon is simply a wanted excuse. People like you would ignore all the hints that advances the acceptance of a particular story, because you want the "obvious." I'm sorry if am straying a bit, but I really don't see this going anywhere. Even if Kishimoto comes out and say "Boruto anime is cano", there's every chance you might want Kishimoto to make the sentence complete before you would consent with it. You probably won't even totally accept it because, which I'll assume; you just don't like the anime.

Anyway, when you post the things I ask for, am only going to respond to them, and not anything else.

OrganicDinosaur translated an official time line released for the Boruto Movie. None of the hiden novels were incorporated, mind you this was stated to be the official time line for 'Naruto'

Stating he wants Boruto Anime to be better than the Naruto Anime, doesn't make it canon. It just means he wants it to be better. Another example of twisting facts.

You literally tried to state that the Boruto Manga wouldn't be canon because Kishimoto never stated that it was. However, when you were proved wrong, you tried to backpedal as you are now. There's no differentiates to be stated.

I want to reiterate what you just said. Show me where Kishimoto said that the 'Anime is canon' word for word. And I'll start taking you seriously.

That point is not relevant when you realize Kishimoto wasn't even 100% responsible for the chapters he made. He's merely the main part of it.
Kodachi, on Twitter, explained his, and the anime’s relationship with Masashi Kishimoto. Here’s what he said, “Boruto has been written with Kishimoto-san meticulously (truly meticulously) checking over it.Episodes 8/9 were originally one episode, but Kishimoto was saying things like, “let’s expand here because this is interesting,” “more of that,” and, “let’s give it a theme like this.” As a result of the excitement between myself and Kishimoto-san, I wound up working very hard on Miwa’s screenplay.”

This means Masashi Kishimoto is working on Boruto anime as well, and it is being released under his watch. So, no folks, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is not filler at all. Many fans claimed it be filler, but now, even the writer himself confirmed that Kishimoto is working on it.

Kishimoto has also alluded to working on the anime story as well in an Shoen Jump interview.

So I don't think you can say definitively that the anime is 100% filler until Kishi himself actually specifies how invloved he is becuase according to Ukyou Kodachi, he is under Kishimoto’s Extremely Carefull Supervision.

You must be registered for see images

“Boruto is created under Mr Kishimoto’s careful (extremely careful) supervision, but episode 8 and 9 were originally one episode, and it became two episodes due to thoughts such as “let’s expand this because it’s interesting”, “let’s add to that”, “let’s go with this type of theme” from Mr Kishimoto and I. And Miwa (Kiyomune Miwa) who does the scripts worked very hard due to this excitement from us.”

Another better translation to the same tweet I came across....

"BORUTO" is made on the basis of Mr. Kishimoto's close (truly careful) check, but 8/9 talks were originally one episode "Since it's interesting, let's expand here" "Let's increase that "As a theme like this" and Kishimoto and Mr. Kishimoto were excited, I decided to have a lot of hard work in the scriptwriter Miwa.

Key words: Kishimoto being closely and carefully involved.

This confirms yet again Kishimoto is actually working quite a lot on the Boruto anime and confirms its canonicity even further.

So.....i can't really soundly disagree with OP....
.

Sakura's feats confirmed canon?

Afaik Kishimoto could be drinking Daiquiris in Hawai, while everyone uses his name for the sake of marketing and general public acceptance of the series.

I'm talking about the original manga. Kishi wasn't the only one contributing to the chapters, both in art and in story.

But if the writing is heavily supervised by Kishi himself doesn't that means the writing credits are subject to Kishi's approval? I mean dude said verbatim that he's under Kishi's supervision so Kishi is liable.

The Manga usually leads though. Kishimoto not being responsible is obvious, he's not a great writer by himself. As evident when his first editor left.

1-18 = 100% canon
19-23 = some scenes could be considered filler /// modifying author original work = filler

I'm no expert when it comes to translating the Japanese language to English, but this scan depicts that the Novels are part of Naruto timeline, Ergo canon.

Kishimoto did not add he wants to be better than Naruto anime. He state explicitly he wants it to be better than Naruto. Moreover if your suggestion is true, Naruto shippuden is canon. Ergo, if he wants it to better than the anime, it goes to show he acknowledges it beyond just accepting it.

Nope. They release novel time lines for the readers to know where exactly it would take place in the story, they did the same for the Hiden novels. The Hiden novels have their own time lines within the Naruto verse as well.

However the official NARUTO time line was released shortly after the Boruto Movie. And the hiden novels weren't associated with it.

I personally don't read nor has anyone translated the Novels, so I don't know what content is in it exactly. I've heard that it's just the Anime episodes is script form.

U
Um, no. Kishimoto based on your logic didn't even explicitly say Boruto Anime. He just said Boruto.

Now leaving that dumb point. Kishimoto wants to make the Anime better than the Naruto Anime. There's already a Manga where the adaption came from. I'm not sure why your reaching this hard tho

Naruto Shippuden? Or Boruto? Sorry for the confusion.

How is it heavily supervised by Kishi? Kishimoto doesn't even appear connected to the anime over @ tokyo-tv page dedicated to the series. Neither Ukyo is deemed as the director.

This is anime wise btw.

the new writer is ukyo not kishi so now if ukyo is writing anything it's canon

Aren't we talking about the anime? Ukyo is the supervisor at this point in time. Abe is the Chief Director and if you like interviews so much, there is one where Abe clearly states he decides the direction of the anime.

Why do people care about the Boruto Anime being canon though? I don't remember people caring about the Naruto anime being canon lol.

I would understand if there wasn't a Boruto Manga leading.
