Which do you guys prefer? In a general sense, I like 3rd person more because it just sounds better and the use of "I" sporadically just irritates my soul sometimes., but in 1st person it seems easier to describe and it's less confusing to me. Also in 1st person it allows you to display your thoughts and views on everything as your character rather than just stating what everyone one does from an omniscent stand point. Also when it comes to taijutsu in particular, 1st person seems more ideal.

I use both, I prefer 1st person as I consider myself a far better character Rp'er than I am anything else... Whenever I write outside of RP I use 1st person too. However, I feel like most people on here find 3rd person easier to follow, especially in a battling sense so I tend to stick to that for the sake of my RP partner(s).

I've only used third person, but after talking to Adachi, I'm trying out first. Ive felt like my RP was lacking so we think personalizing it would get me more involved, plus it's helping me reconnect to my chaeacters. So there are benefits to both, I suppose

Over the course of my RP career I've tried both 1st and 3rd but 1st seems more suitable for my personnel but the weird thing is after I post, it immediately looks rough when I re-read. So I tend to edit and go with 3rd person since its what most RPers employ here.

I've done both (tried first person recently), I am currently playing around with both of them. I agree that first person is better to portray the character personally, and give some in-depth into his psyche, but 3rd person makes me feel like I am actually playing the game and allows me to describe things better in terms of fighting. Either way, its all up to the player to decide which one fits his/her style better :D

I tend to switch between the two but the one I use the most is third person. It just seems easier to explain things and what not z.z But sometimes there are only things first person can indicate clearly so yeah

When playing DnD I always use 1st but when playing DnD style games (skyrim, etc.) I always play in 3rd. I've tried both on here but I gravitate to 3rd person because I feel like this is more of a console game if that makes sense. DnD I'm thinking on the spot and my decisions have repercussions just like RL but on here I feel more omni in a sense since I can look at a post and think of a reply, consult others, write rewrite and revise to try and get the best outcome. I guess what I'm trying to say is that in table-top RP there is usually a DM(god) and you are in his world while here you are the DM and the character is living in your world.

I personally like to role play in 3rd person. This way I bring my character to life. I sometimes even add some dialogue so my character could express himself if he chooses to. When it comes to taijutsu I still use 3rd person. I'm not a ninja in real life so more of the moves my character makes I wouldn't be able to do. Instead my character can demonstrate great skill in his movements as I describe him doing it.

It depends on my bio. I've done first person with Rock Lee and Percy because of how both are. Rock Lee uses a lot of honorifics and can be described as "naive" to things so it made it fun while Percy was used to break fourth wall and other random stuff. For more serious Bios, I typically use a third person PoV as it makes it seem more story like and easier to piece together as a story

I feel like third person lets you describe your character better and keeps people focused on your character rather than them thinking that might be your feelings or words (even though they might be anyway but that's besides the point). On the contrary to one of your statement, I believe 3rd person lets you dig deeper with your character traits and personality. The character is not supposed to be you, when you are OOC describing something, why would you say "I do such and such"? Nah nah. "She or he does such and such". Compare the two,

"As I become more red in the face from the sheer anger from a partner's betrayal, I weave a single handseal and blow fire from my mouth, lightning the traitor on fire instantaneously."

"As she became more red in the face from the sheer anger from a partner's betrayal, she weaved a single handseal and blew fire from her mouth, lightning the traitor on fire instantaneously."

You don't think 3rd person sounds better connected and also, I like using past tense a lot. Like I have already done it rather then present tense. But I don't know. That is just me.I will always feel like if I use 1st person I am describing me or showing people my actions rather than my character's.

I used to do a lot of writing so I'm most comfortable writing and roleplaying in third person. You lose a bit of depth for the individual, but it helps the setting as a whole. That said, I find you can make a pretty smooth transition using siloque or monologue - even internal, by taking on a hybrid third-person omniscient approach. It can help your characters with their inner insights when they aren't explicitly narrating.

That said, in a battle perspective I find treating it as first person when planning helps me tremendously from time to time, even though third person is still most predominantly used.
