Boruto Manga Chapter 1 Discussion and 2 Predictions

The beginning pages seem interesting, and the movie plot pages had a slightly different feel than the movie (maybe slightly different emphasis since this is Boruto's story?)

But goddam what did he do to Sasuke? Yes, he still has his swag and all, but ugh.

Manga stream even tacked on a full page fan art of Sasuke in this horrid style. Proof that color doesn't help.

I own Naruto volumes 1-72. Not buying any of this. 2/5.

I simply don't like the art. But I don't mind this being a recap of the movie, nothing wrong with a manga adaption.

But who the hell is strong enough to kill Naruto? He literally fought and defeated a god, the origin of all chakra. Now all of the sudden there is someone strong enough to beat and (presumably) kill him?

There better be a good explanation.

I didnt think it was bad. The first couple of pages were actually pretty awesome. I think its getting a lot of unwarranted hate. The art isnt as bad as people were expecting and it seems like the story will be interesting, but since they are rehashing the movie, and its monthly if im not mistaken, it seems like itll be a while until we get to any of the good stuff.

Im curious about the byakugan and the eye scar. Did he awaken it? Or was it implanted? It seems weird that he would awaken it in one eye. I guess we wont know for a while. I wonder how long they plan on running the boruto manga, judging from the first chapter they obviously have an ending already.

Naruto did not defeat or at least overpower Kaguya, it was a sealing. He was just avoiding attacks and trying to survive, plus it was a three on one effort with Sakura actually landing the final blow that allowed them to seal her. The only thing that could beat Naruto is a Naruto/Sasuke DNA clone.

As I've been saying all along everything after chapter 700 is filler bs that isn't apart of the actual story.

And just like with GT because this Boruto series is GT it is going to completely flop and it's not worth anyone's time.

If you enjoy it I'm not going to say your stupid but for me Boruto doesn't even exist and this is the last time I will ever acknowledge it.

This is my first time feeling disappointed about the Naruto story/manga. I've been using this site for like 5 years to watch and read Naruto, but now when first chapter of Boruto came out I had to make an account to complain about the new looks!!!!! What the hell did they do to them? What's with the retro hairstyles? Why everyone has curly hair ends? What happened with the straight lines?! I know the new mangaka should use his own style and not copy Kishi, but why you not doing straight lines?! WHY???? Everyone loved the straight bangs, especially Hinata's and Sasuke's. We loved the emo hairstyles and the spiky hair... look what they did to the 4th :'( Hinata is so ugly now, flat chested, looks like she's 12 again >_< and her daughter.. another state where they avoid the straight lines. curved eyebrows? SERIOUSLY?! and why does everyone got rectangular eyes with fake lashes.. Jeez.. and all men have big pouty lips.. looks kinda gay imo.. Poor Sasuke..

Boruto is shit, I don't care what he goes through, he will never come close to Naruto in strength or as a character.

The artwork is traumatizing and I'm really pissed Boruto had the nerve to throw Naruto's jacket which was his only clothes when he grew up with no parents and everyone hating him. The only thing I kinda liked is the tools of science are enabling high level jutsus being used without the persons chakra. It reminds me of the history of the human race in how we've made machines that increased efficiency and did the work for us.

I also like how the failure in passing down wisdom to the new generation breaks the cycle of peace because as they say. Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. Naruto achieved world peace but was unable to pass down the current values that allowed peace in the world to the next generation.

I absolutely agree with this. One of the best things about Sasuke was how cool he looked. But now look at him, a curly haired slob.
Absolutely disgusting. I refuse to acknowledge that this is the same character.
If they want to save this manga, sacred characters like Naruto and Sasuke must at least preserve their original design.

If have to agree that sasuke looks like shit. I dont get why they changed his hair as it just looks stupid now. I dont think hinata looks terrible but i dont understand why they even messed with her design. Why are her tits gone? What was the point of making her flat chested, i dont get it.

Honestly the first couple pages were pretty good and made me interested in the series, but since they are rehashing the whole boruto movie its going to be ages until we get to find out what is actually the story behind whats going on in the first few pages.

Other than sasuke and hinata, the art isnt really bad its just a little different.

Yay something new to keep up with and read for weeks to come... 3/5, though I watched the movie and know this part of the story, art isn't a bother... It's the first new chapters of a New series with new artist.... I'm ready to enjoy whatever this story holds

I think it holds a lot of promise. I'm sure people will get accustomed to the art given enough time. I'm already accustomed to it after rereading the chapter once. Heck, I only started caring about the art when it was brought up in all of these threads...

The story has been set up well too. The interactions between characters are lovely! Naruto missing Himawari's birthday grants a lot of sympathy for Boruto's cause, and you can see the pressure being put on all of the family members (eg. Hinata's statement). I'm liking Boruto's team so far.

The jutsu sealing concept is pretty close to what I have imagined for some time now, and I'm curious to see how it will be used in battles.
