That was an allusion - to the general fact that you people (it's mostly just under-performing groups, particularly Blacks and Muslims ) always want more than equality of opportunity, a state of affairs that does warrant the phrase I used.

By the way Pumpkin Ninja, when will your people stop mistreating the Hazaras?

It always breaks my heart to see a little Shia Hazara girl beheaded by a non flat-nosed Afghan (that's the reverse of the slur, get it?) in the news every now and then.

I hear they've suffered 'systematic oppression' in your country for hundreds of years now (including being enslaved in the masses by one your kings, what was he called, the Iron Emir?), is that true?

I hope you're constantly telling your fellow Pashtuns to check their Pashtun privilege as often as you are telling Whites.

Oh, sorry for teasing if you are an ethnic Hazara yourself, by the way.
Yeah, I've never been to Afghanistan, nor have I told anyone to check their privilege. My fellow Pashtuns don't do anything in Canada that are disrespectful to the Hazara.

Afghanistan is a f*cked up country with MANY problems, systematic oppression being one of them. You've failed to do what you're trying to, btw.

Nice, you're trying to show me that generalization is wrong but then you just use it in the first sentence of your post.

What typical people think Egyptians look like:

@Greek: The Greeks and Romans spanned an empire continents wide, but their main area was up North, so their Caucasian looks aren't anything to be worried about.

I love Rami Malek.

Looooooool

See, this is one of the reasons why I enjoy reading about countries and peoples outside the west - just to see the reaction of their natives when I tell them a thing or two that they think only their own ought to be aware of.

I had a good Afghan friend back in high-school; that is why I know more about your home land than I frankly should.

But observe Pumpkin Ninja for such is the nature of human beings - selfish, ethnocentric and religious-group-centric is man, is he not?

That Afghan friend of mine was an ethnic Pashtun too - he used to tell me that although historically the Hazara were the victims, ethnic strife has increasingly been bi-directional (and with the other ethnic groups of that country), and that the Pashtun majority have been increasingly marginalized in their own country in modern times.

And like that friend of mine, I too, while acknowledging the historical grievances of Blacks, refuse to be guilty over the crimes of my ancestors in perpetuity. And I certainly will not allow my society and civilization to be destroyed for my grand-children over the putative crimes of my ancestors.

I never intended to do anything more than tease you in the previous post my friend. You attempted to find a moral lesson where there was none.

hollywood won't make that movie. white people want to see white people. White people control vastly more capital hence the white people in the movie. White people want to see a hero they can relate to

Ah, okay.

Just saying, I don't think whites have to be guilty, but I think it's reasonable for blacks to want their history to be portrayed more accurately.

I'm not a "Whites are evil" type of guy, I've argued for them on NB too.

OT: I looked up the Cast. There is a Black God, you should have done research before making that claim.

Notice I said that people were complaining about this. Me personally I don't give a crap about this movie. I just saw a bunch of comments on YouTube. Felt like sharing the conversation. I think there should be more than 1 so I'll check the cast.

I noticed that people were mentioning that all of the gods were white and not nonwhite. Where are the black and brown people? This movie is suppose to be about Ancient Egyptians. I've never seen a movie about Greeks and Greek Gods played by an all black cast. I don't Hollywood would ever make such a movie. Oh god and that guy's accent who talks to the girl.

Why?? I know it's not hard for Hollywood to find black people for movies. They did a good job with Blood Diamond, 12 years a slave, and other movies that depict black people as poor, inferior sub-species, and such. But with a movie about gods and royalty it's impossible for Hollywood. Think about all the children going to go see this movie. This is an awful way to teach kids about Ancient Egypt. That movie exodus was bad, why are the doing this Christian Bale and Gerard Butler?

Hollywood is amazing :sdo:

Note: I use African and Black interchangeably. Anyone of African/Black descent is black to me and I mean those other cultures like the Israelites and Latin Americans and such.
At first I didn't think much of this post, but the bold was a pretty good point. I'm not going to say that every single actor or actress should be white....but seriously...this is an ancient Egypt movie apparently......like this is equivalent to having an all white cast on The Help.

If it is a slave movie, or directly related to the black struggle etc; then of course they are practically tripping over black actors, but nope...we can't play in this one. Its not that big of a deal...but seriously...where dey at tho? xD
