I noticed that people were mentioning that all of the gods were white and not nonwhite. Where are the black and brown people? This movie is suppose to be about Ancient Egyptians. I've never seen a movie about Greeks and Greek Gods played by an all black cast. I don't Hollywood would ever make such a movie. Oh god and that guy's accent who talks to the girl.

Why?? I know it's not hard for Hollywood to find black people for movies. They did a good job with Blood Diamond, 12 years a slave, and other movies that depict black people as poor, inferior sub-species, and such. But with a movie about gods and royalty it's impossible for Hollywood. Think about all the children going to go see this movie. This is an awful way to teach kids about Ancient Egypt. That movie exodus was bad, why are the doing this Christian Bale and Gerard Butler?

Hollywood is amazing :sdo:

Note: I use African and Black interchangeably. Anyone of African/Black descent is black to me and I mean those other cultures like the Israelites and Latin Americans and such.

@ 0:33 :/ And this movie was about the stars. It wouldn't sell without them.

Even though I almost never even watch any movies, much less live action ones, this pisses me off a lot.

To be honest, the story itself looks like cliché, but the setting and the effects will attract many people I guess.

To be honest, I don't quite understand why people are overreacting like this over some mediocre movie nobody's going to remember shortly after it's released.

I don't get why this is a thing everyone has to bring up.

You dont have to understand if you dont personally know the struggle or if its not your history or culture. Its serious because they really can find more accurate roles yet internatuonally blacks are arguably disliked on the big screen so they depict the characters how they want "whitewashing" everything.

Its important to me because I grew up with all the cool superheroes being white. I could never be superman nor spiderman etc. Noone looked like me. People blew a gasket when Goku was casted white, why cant black people be upset over the history of AFRICA being depicted poorly. Even in the new Exodus everyone was white and the only black people were servants carrying the pharoah.

I understand that actors challenge themselves and ultimately you can become whatever you want to be, but some things you should depict with a sense of respect and accuracy.

Just my thoughts on this. I'm out before some of these wackos start cussin for no reason.

What typical people think Egyptians look like:

@Greek: The Greeks and Romans spanned an empire continents wide, but their main area was up North, so their Caucasian looks aren't anything to be worried about.

Black people come in different shades. My uncle was yellow, he could pass as Latino American instead of African American. Some Latinos and other culture groups have a certain percentage of negroid.

shut up you dumb ass
no one takes their kids to see an action movie to teach them about history
gtfo with your bullshit

Who the **** cares besides racists and biggots grow up it isnt about race so get the **** of your mother ****ing high horse movies are ment for entertainment not a snooze fest historical lession

I can see where they're coming from though, tbh. The white anthropologists and historians during the colonial era mendaciously rewrote history and gave birth to the racialist notion of history where blacks are at the bottom and whites at the top. After all, they aver, how can blacks be civilized if they've never had a history? The one civilization however that completely defied those racialist canards was Ancient Egypt, which is why the racist nexus of movie makers, historians and anthropologists got busy writing Egypt as a purely white land, for how can blacks create a civilization as sophisticated as Egypt? Even though the racialist era of history is a bygone era, several vestiges still linger, such as Hollywood's racism towards all minorities and deification of whites. The fact that Hollywood can't resist peddling stereotypes of minorities and glorifying whites is seen by many is intransigent racism.

It is just a movie to many, but to the minorities who've had their entire history rewritten and civilizations omitted and even plagiarized by some, this innocuous movie seems to evoke the ethos of a nefarious era in world history that many people want to forget but hollywood's perpetuation of racialist legacies doesn't help

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I hardly have seen a single black person irl throughout my entire life, so it's only natural that I wouldn't feel empathy on this matter. But I see your point.

Yeah there's a difference between Ancient Egyptians and Modern Egyptians. That Rami Malek guy looks like my uncle they both have similar skin tone/shade. Ancient Egypt was kind of like America. I mean there were different shades of Black.

You act like it's just the movies. Jesus was not White yet they always try to depict Jesus as white. Personally I don't care about religion but something like that should be noted.

I honestly couldnt care less if he was white black or orange he will always still be jesus the only people who would care are racists on ether side of that arguement

Someone should make a movie about the Atlantic Slave Trade or Civil War, but have all the Europeans and white people be played by Mexicans.

Authors and literary writers have asserted multiple times that the lack of representation can be detrimental to African American children. Look up articles like "Reading in Color." People severely underestimate the effect art, and representation in art, have on others.
