I was recently discussing the topic of sexuality with one of my friends about the homosexuals heterosexuals, and bisexuals and what factors determined them in choosing thier sexuality was it gene? An inherent trait they got from their parents or was it the enviroment and how they explored it that determind their sexuality. Have your say what do you think is right are people sexuality defined at birth or are they shaped by the enviroment and thier interactions with it?

It's one's surrounding environment and relationships with two genders in early childhood that determine their sexual orientation once they undergo puberty.

You don't choose to be one way or another.
Go and try *choosing* another sexuality, try and force yourself to be sexually attracted to something you're not.
It's down to hormones.
Don't go relying on a subject that has as many completely different paradigms as Psychology does. For example, the Biological Approach would tell you something completely different to the Psychodynamic Approach.

Well, scientists have discovered homosexuality traits in hundreds of species other than humans.(who don't have the same capacity of thought as humans) So I believe it's something inherently within some people, and not something we "choose".

You rarely find genes influenced by homosexuality for example. Most men/women in the world are straight. So I believe it comes down to the environment the person lived in, and how it influenced them. So yes, it's a determined choice.
What you believe is of no consequence, it's only the cold hard facts that matter.
I'm bisexual and didn't choose to be as such, and I don't fall under the umbrella of what psychological theories playing on the side of nurture believe to "cause" homosexuality/bisexuality.
What people say they are and what they really are are two different things.
Even in our age, many still hide their orientation despite the increasing number of people revealing their true sexuality. I'd like to see you, and all the others saying it's a choice to choose another orientation and see how easily it fails.

Yup. The fact that scientists have changed the sexualities of fruit flies by ****ing around with their genes, and have found similarities in the shapes of certain parts of the brain between homosexual men and heterosexual women that aren't found in heterosexual man support that the determination of sexuality has a large biological factor.

I find it funny how homosexuals and bisexuals apparently chose what they are aroused by and attracted to, and yet we can't choose what arouses us, or what we are attracted to. Like BlacLord said, if it's a choice, choose to be attracted to something you aren't normally attracted to, then choose to go back. I dare you.
