They seem very similar in the beginning, chunin exams=hunter exams, Kuprika=Sasuke, and I heard a lot of people say it's a rip off. I want answers with substantial evidence, not conjectures. Is there evidence that kishi ripped of hunter x hunter?

Hunter hunter started roughly a year before Naruto I'm not mistaken. By then Kishi's rough draft and one shot for Naruto was already completed (after his work Mario was scrapped). I doubt Kishi threw out any of his original ideas and he just adapted them.

They ran simultaneously from what I know and given togashi's hiatus'... I doubt it.

Never watched it. Is it good???
i read the manga and it's very good, and i only read 8 chapters. imagine the anime, which EVERYONE says is one of the best animes

HXH was published in March 3, 1998 and Naruto was published in August 1997. No mention of inspiration and 1-year apart. No rip-off.
then why do alot of people call naruto a rip off

Mostly for Naruto's several DB, DBZ references hidden within characters, personalities, and abilities. But we already know this and Kishimoto admitted several times that DB and DBZ is inspiration.

Dat inspiration.
That's also inspiration ._. The anime company obviously likes that fight scene and decided to incorporate it into a fight in Naruto as a little easter egg to show their respect. It would be completely different if that fight scene itself was copyrighted, but it's not. Inspiration.

Cowboy Bebop is a CLASSIC and that COWBOY BEBOP : Knockin on Heaven's Door .
beautiful just beautiful.

The anime has lots of inspired fighting sequences . The manga has even more inspirations . *_*
Naruto inspirations: Trigun, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, lots of things. Including myths Kishi likes to read. ^_^

kishi didn't make the anime, so that's a moot point
If you read the post I quoted this gif really has nothing to do with Naruto in particular, rather the idea that there's no such thing as a rip-off.

Without delving in too deep (cause honestly I couldn't care less) a ripoff by definition is an imitation, and or copy of something. Whether or not it was copyrighted doesn't matter, this is a ripoff from a fight scene.

If I recall, this isn't played at the same speed exactly. So, technically speaking, Naruto didn't rip it off, as it's not an exact copy. Again, inspiration.
