Not really, it was Madara's last trump card to escape death. It doesn't mean he had the upper hand in the battle.

Derp obito is right.. Why cant people accept it was a
genjutsu.
We dont know nothing about EMS maybe it has a new power up for a even better genjutsu
its so obvious Madara used his EMS to use it aleast at the end of the battle
why do you think even hashirama himself did not know he killed madara
because the genjutsu ended when he madara escaped.
look at when hashi stabbed madara and madara said he is mistaking and darkness will come back some sort of way

I believe that's possible. I don't believe it's izanagi because that would have required him to give up an eye. And we already know he has to eventually give his eyes to nagato.

I beleive its a self inflicted Genjutsu similar to izanagi, although he survived death he did not leave the battle unscathed, that is proven by the dialogue between obito and madara. But absolutely genjutsu was involved.

I doubt hashi was caught in tsukuyomi because he only looks up after madara gets stabbed.

You explained how he survived not WHY he survived. A good answer would of been cause he was needed to further the plot. Or. He used the legendary technique plot no jutsu!

As many times as they fought, he never casted a genjutsu on Hashirama, howcome now he suddenly decides to do so? I would say Izanagi, but that costs an eye. If he used Izanagi than he wouldn't have had two sharingans to evolve to rinnegan. I believe done one came to his rescue.

Totally agree. Uchiha is good in ninjutsu, but better in genjutsu. With a EMS Madara, there should be no problem genjutsing Hashirama.

One look in the eye is enough to cast a genjutsu without one realising.

Just think of how Itachi defeated Deidara with his Sharingan and how Orochimaru got caught out without Itachi looking at him.

I agree with your theory mostly....and I say mostly because I see Madara as a person who thought of himself highly and regarded his fighting skills alone to be of the best instead of resorting to Genjutsu, what I think is possible is that he used Izinagi at the last moment in order to survive as a last resort, more of a cowards way out were it and that's why he never came back initially is because he was embarrassed that he had to resort to that!

EDIT: Also something that was mentioned earlier in this thread about him having a "Disciple" is highly plausible seeing as how Madara mentions when talking to Obito about his eyes that he HAD them implanted into Nagato, never saying that he himself did it....some implications of another person, maybe Uchiha who knows! Thanks, about Madara's implantation of his Rinnegan into Nagato, I think Zetsu did it for him, Zetsu was his errand boy afterall. Lol

Doubt it. Genjutsu Sharingan time is limited and usually when someone is caught under a Sharingan genjutsu, he notices it whether it's at the exact moment the genjutsu is cast or later, but we all know that Hashirama lived long after Madara's death. He could not have been fooled forever. Also to use the moon to project genjutsu, Madara needs to summon it first like he said to Obito

Actually we know that Madara lived long after Hashirama's death...he lived almost up to when the 4th Hoakge took the mantel
