TBH I think your hypothesis is correct bearing in mind the empirical pictorial evidences that you have shown... Another evidence that makes your theory of Madara using a genjutsu right is; if you watch Itachi Vs Sasuke, then you will realise the power of Tsukyomi... When Sasuke broke out of the Tsukyomi, all the effects went on to Itachi, however Sasuke knew it was genjutsu over genjutsu because he had a 3 tome sharingan.
However, in this case Madara has an EMS and I think it grants him extra power to reflect his genjutsu on the moon, when there is full moon (hence his eye of the moon plan, because when he uses 10 tails to do it, the effects will be greater than when he does it by himself).

This time Hashirama breaks the genjutsu and thus the effects were on Madara, who then falls to the floor suffering from the pain of the stab in the tsukyomi.

This is so simple, i don't know how people didnt see this.... I saw this when I read the manga last week, but the only question I had: Was Madara able to move around during the genjutsu? may be that was when he acquired Hashirama's cell or DNA and put it somewhere. probably blood or hair or both

Hashirama was probably mobile even under the Genjutsu

I think your hypothesis is incorrect... The evidence you have shown is illogical, in the earliest naruto episodes, saskue and naruto fough at the valley of the end. Where madara and hashirama had fought long ago correct? Saskue had thought he killed naruro..he stood over naruto body and looked toward the sky!!similar to what hashirama had done previously when he defeated madara. I don't think hashirama dealt a lethal blow to madara?... Maybe madara recovered like naruto did when he was rescued by kakashi. I think there is great significance between the fight with naruto, saskue, madara and hashirama other than the, fact they all were fighting in the same location. The fights both ended in similar ways!!if not the same exact way. You all should review the old naruto vs. saskue episodes!

A VERY detailed thread. But there are a lot of flaws. If Madara cud place Hashirama in a genjutsu then he wudda done it at the beginning of the fight. I believe Senjus are IMMUNE to all kinds of control. That's why Oro cudn't control Hashirama and needed Hashi's cells to control Tobirama. I also believe that that genjutsu you speak of is a little farfetched. Izanagi or Somebody ressurecting Madara with the Rinnegan is more acceptable to me. But anyway man, splendid work as always Derp
