Proof that it wasn't about that? Doflamingo is a broker, and Crocodile has influence in the underworld. What would Doflamingo gain from teaming up with Crocodile in any other way?

There is nothing impressive in the hook blocking Mihawk's yoru considering it's Mihawk who blocked him. There is nothing impressive in the clash with Doflamingo considering it's Doflamingo who blocked him. In both actions, the opponents never intended to destroy him
All the feats you guys are giving to Crocodile are false feat besides the Brillant punk tanking maybe and even that is arguable(considering we don't know what amount of strength Jozu used during that attack). It would make no sense that war arc Crocodile became stronger than Alabasta Crocodile when all he did was sitting on his ass doing nothing. If base Luffy overpowered him, preskip(let alone postskip) Zoro would fodderize him

If it was about the whole underground business stuff then why would he make a big deal once Croc. was "teaming" up with WB?
It was Crocodile who intercepted Mihawk. It's still impressive, Doffy could of kicked off his hook like it was nothing but he didn't & Doffy was pretty pissed at that time.
He was coughing out blood and could barely handle a pre-gears punch from Luffy but all of a sudden he's casually blocking Luffy's second gear kick in MF & handling a direct from Jozu pretty well. Even if you make the argument that he was using Croc.'s weakness at that time it doesn't make sense since Luffy used it again during MF. I agree that Zoro would win but to say "fodderize" Crocodile is pushing it. Crocodile has been to the NW world before or at least it was implied.

No re-read the manga again. The hook is going backwards when Mihawk's yoru remained in a standstil which proves it's Mihawk who blocked the hook to go backwards. If you see the complete page you'll even notice that Mihawk noticed Crocodile's presence beforehand. He noticed him coming and blocked him. It's what happened. Mihawk's stance also prove that. His hands are sideway(as well as the sword) in order to deflect Crocodile's attack. And no, Doffy just wanted to ally with him. He knew Crocodile was a logia, that's why he cut him without haki. If he was really pissed he would have used haki and we'd have had a dead Crocodile
He blocked nothing on Luffy gear second. Luffy just deflected his hook, nothing more. Like i've said the only feat worth arguing is the Jozu tanking thing but it's only arguable. Depends on the amount of strength Jozu was using in the attack

THIS is what a pissed off Doflamingo who's making a big deal looks like. This is a man who, when pissed, brutally attacked Smoker, shot Law three times with lead bullets as a means of physical and mental torture, screamed in rage, turned red, and has the veins in his forehead looking like vines.

If Doflamingo really was pissed off, he would have brutally murdered Crocodile.
I'm not sure if Crocodile can be beaten in the desert. He is literally covered in his element. It's like fighting Pica x 10 because he isn't a logia.

Nah. Crocodile clearly intercepted him. Similarly to how Vista did it & even if you look at the manga; why would Mihawk be shocked (exclamation mark) if he blocked off Crocodile? The Zoro wank is getting to your head. Don't be one-sided, it seems like you love to do that whenever I see you in discussions.:

Nvm then, the anime made it looked like he was kind of p*ssed off/serious but in the manga it's the opposite. I could of sworn he seemed pretty p*ssed off/serious in the manga. Why would he be jealous though if his purpose for teaming up with him was for business purposes?

I doubt he was joking/exaggerating. Why would he even mention that he was teaming up with WB? So many questions, I'll just wait till it gets explained. I'm sure it either has to do with his strength or something to do with the knowledge he had when he was ruling over Alabasta.

I was very tempted to go with Zoro for scenario 2 but giving Crocodile the whole desert to fight in I think is a little to much of an advantage for Zoro to overcome.

More like the Crocodile wank is in your head for trying to involve Zoro in a discussion where he isn't even included and using anime as a proof. I'm using manga here and i'm telling you Mihawk is the one who blocked Crocodile, not the contrary. The interrogation mark is there to show that Mihawk noticed something approaching(Crocodile) and he simply deflected the blow. Anime simply didn't represented that properly(won't be the first time). And it's not because you'll accuse me of wanking or whatever you like that i won't continue to say that if you really think it changes a thing in the discussion. It on the contrary shows how childlish and incapable to debate properly you are if when you fail in debate you ressort to pitful insults. Won't be the first time though considering it's the only thing you can do nowadays. Your hate of Zoro and their fanbase is the only debate where you can argue properly

Just like the case with Sanji, if Crocodile bonds with the desert, Zoro can leap into the air, and launch flying slashes at the ground, which Crocodile will feel, and he'ĺl pass out from the damage. A reverse O Tatsumaki that continuously drives and bores into the ground will possibly kill Crocodile.

Mihawk swings his sword back and jumps toward Luffy (middle panel), as he was swinging his sword at Luffy, Crocodile intercepted him (last panel). It's pretty evident that was it happening by just looking from the middle panel to where they clash. There's already exclamation marks near Mihawk, indicating that he was surprise. Also, don't deem the anime as being terrible or something not credible. It's not like we're talking about a censored scene. The anime followed MF quite well, aside from the censorship ofc, so it's okay to use it. I'm not saying all this stuff to insult you either, just reminding you to put your biases aside in a discussion.
Oh and by the way considering i'm tired to explain all the false feats you people are giving to Crocodile during that war, i invite people to read this thread:

But if he bonds with the desert and becomes one with the element. You could say that he is everywhere and he is nowhere at the same time. If Crocodile is in the sand he is basically like Law in his room.
He can pop-up where ever he wants and launch attacks from any position. But if you attack the sand there is no certainty of hitting him because it would be just sand without his physical body.
That strategy might work with pika because he is paramecia, but croc is a logia, his body doesn't have to be somewhere. Also how high do you need to leap to send flying slashes at a desert ? That landscape can continue for miles, Crocodile can be everywhere.
And those fast sables attacks are quick enough to catch an admiral off guard and split him in two. One is bound to hit him sooner or later.
Bonding with the desert is something we've never even seen Crocodile being capable to do, yet you guys are giving him such capacities. The level of Crocodile wank on this site is outstanding. Either way, Monet herself who showed that capacity(she can mix/manoeuver with the entire environment of snow) never managed to surprise him, so i don't think that even if he could, it would work/worth it. Observation haki will always help him to find his target just like it helped him to always know Monet's location even when she was mixing herself inside her snow environment and he would get one shoted like a fodder he is

Nah. Zoro leaps into the air at the very same moment he transforms and blends into the ground. He isn't nowhere, Crocodile now is the span of the desert, his conscience is part of the entire thing. A move like O Tatsumaki in the opposite direction, a way for it to spiral downwards is more than enough to defeat Crocodile, bonded with the desert or not. A launched Sables, a launched Spada, means nothing, because the constant slicing of the O Tatsumaki and the pain would make Crocodile pass out. He's leagues below Zoro and his attacks.
The Spada to Akainu did nothing. He transformed on reflex. Akainu did the same with explosives, both Rob Lucci and Bartolomeo survived those with no problem, so it shows Akainu doesn't transform because he absolutely needs to, his body just does.
This strategy wouldn't work for Pica he doesn't BECOME stone, he can assimilate it, which is basically Earthbending. If he merges with his golem, and someone attacks the golem, he doesn't feel the pain because the golem doesn't become part of him, he just covers himself with stone and can ¨Earthbend¨ it.
