We saw Itachi own pains summoned beasts...lol he was handle the frog soon as he glances with amaterasu cooked frog legs...sage mode takes forever I doubt Itachi even let's him get that far..even if he did...Itachi still beat him..people need to admit a lot of stronger ninja that old man river now..he was strong once kinda like master roshi then bam pass the torch...couldn't even master sage mode...sad old man I forgot his name already..must not be to important...hmmm rip van winkle yeah sounds right

Itachi avoided ever truly fighting a leaf shinobi...could of killed kakashi but didnt didn't want to blow his cover duh...Itachi was a good guy and had kisame with him...Itachi only said that to avoid involving kisame...he orders kisame listens...so Itachi didn't want to fight jman..because he was good...as many times as he faced naruto and just wanted to talk he could of snatched him anytime but didn't use ur head ill admit if someone is stronger than Itachi but it sure as hell aight jiraiya

Idiots Jiraiya said that when orochimaru was leaving the village, he couldnt stop him. They both were in there late 20's early 30's and they both gotten stronger when the met in battle again but orochimaru had his arm sealed by the 3rd hokage and Jiraiya was drugged by Tsunade and was bearly at 30%. At full power Jiraiya and orochimaru had never fought and that sucks but we can estimate their power throught their fight with other ninjas to see who would win. Jiraiya power is respected by Itachi that cause Itachi and kisame to leave (kisame doesn't trust Itachi since the moment they met and wouldn't leave if he didn't believe) where as Itachi beat orochimaru twice. Akastksi(sp?) where looking for orochimaru to kill him because he knew to much about them and didnt go after Naruto in the 2 1/2 time skip because he was with Jiraiya. All facts from the manga.

Let's remember that when Itachi and Kisame first showed up after the Invasion, unless Kishimoto seriously planned all this so far ahead, Itachi and Kisame were still villains. He sought to keep peace, but yet he was more than willing to allow Kisame to cut off Naruto's legs. I also doubt that aside from Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi, Kishimoto hadn't come up with all these abilities for the MS.

Jiraiya was supposed to be one of the Legendary 3, basically one of the strongest ninjas in the world. Hence the reason for Itachi's retreat, he knew of Jiraiya's abilities.

Not to say Jiraiya is stronger than Itachi, but he does seem incredibly resourceful. His knowledge and tactics could have - at the time - outdone either Itachi or Kisame. Until Kishi comes out and says it, we'll never know who was truly stronger. If Kishi had indeed planned everything about Itachi even way back when he was supposed to be some kind of monster, then yes, Itachi was stronger and simply feigning retreat in order to prevent needless bloodshed (but then why say nothing against Kisame when he mentioned to cut off Naruto's legs?). If Kishi didn't plan that much back then, perhaps it was just a means to increase the aura of Jiraiya.

you can't snap out of tsukuyomi unless your a blood relative. that's why sasuke was able to escape itachi's tsukuyomi and even if i'm wrong and ma and pa somehow magically release the genjutsu on him, he would still suffer days of torture in the genjutsu due to itachi capable of manipulating space/time with it.

lol sage mode takes jman forever and on top of that what technique can jiraiya use to against susanoo and how will he avoid amaterasu lol...don't say summoning cause Itachi burned down 2 or 3 of nagatos...the huge eight headed serpent blast or kirin could go threw it so what would jiraiya use lol oil and fire...a fiant rasengan lol fail jman isn't that great I agree all day...kakashi might as well be a sannin..that word is over rated...naruto and sasuke are awesomnnin then lol if oro is a sannin and got owned by Itachi...what's Itachi...badassannin that's what...let jman go yall he did his job..funny character ill miss hi....haha nah
