Jiraiya got his ass kicked by Orochimaru when? Are you referring to the Sannin battle with Tsunade? Jiraiya didn't get his ass kicked whatsoever. He couldn't mold his chakra properly because of Tsunade's drug.

Jiraiya is absolutely on Itachi's level. Itachi states himself to Kisame that if they fought Jiraiya, the best case scenario for them would be killing him but both dying along with them. If you're going to counter me by saying, "the only reason Itachi said that was to prevent the capture of Naruto", then why did they bother confronting Naruto later that day in the hotel? Itachi could have easily gave Kisame any other reason in order to delay Naruto's capture. The only thing I'll give you is that if they fought to the death it would end with both of them dead. Even Pain said Jiraiya could have defeated him if he had only known his secret. That gives testament to Jiraiya's strength.

Granted, Naruto mastered Sage Mode above that of Jiraiya, but that means Jiraiya is crap? You kid have no idea what you are talking about. There were dozens of stone statues which means Sage Mode isn't something easy to learn. Beyond that, only people with considerably large chakra reserves can have a chance at Sage Mode because it's required in order to balance the sheer amount of natural energy. Fukasaku states this.

Hmm, do you remember what Jiraiya can do? Itachi just looks strong because his 3 MS techniques are very powerful. Jiraiya has a huge variety of jutsu that together far fAR exceeds Itachi's MS. Sage mode might not even be required for Itachi. But for both Itachi and Kisame, Sage mode is probably required lol.

Listen dude, I'm a huge Jiraiya fan, judging by my avatar and sig, that's probably no surprise. But seriously, Jiraiya, like Hiruzen, Minato and so many others, was a "true" shinobi. The number/power of your jutsu isn't what makes you strong bro. Just read my signature comment and you should understand. And that post is literally why Naruto, Jiraiya, Minato, Lee and a bunch of others are really the most powerful.
