Personally i'd say no without yin yang mastery at this point. Though rules wise there is nothing to stop you using a yin and yang buff on a jutsu at the same time.
" its tether is immediate and cannot be blocked " - it can't be blocked. They would have to enter sage mode or create a mass of sage chakra surge thing.
As sage transformation uses natural energy, it should be able to break it, as long as it's strong enough.
(Inton: Dai Mugen Ryu) - Yin Release: Great Phantom Dragons
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Rank: S
Range: Short - Long
Chakra Cost: 150
Damage: 100 | 120 (for multi-element)
Description: A more powerful version of “Yin Release Hungry Ghost Technique.” Rather than the user arbitrarily adding their Yin Release chakra to a specific technique, the user will create a number of large, elemental dragons using any of the basic elements plus their Yin Release chakra. The user can create up to 5 serpentine dragons which, once created, can act independently according to the user’s will. Due to the user being able to manipulate multiple elements at once, each dragon created can be of a different nature. Each dragon will also have the absorption properties of “Hungry Ghost,” thus becoming even more dangerous. However, due to the massive amount of chakra and control needed to use these dragons, the user can only control two dragons at any given time. While the dragons are present, the user cannot use any Yang Release or elemental techniques that currently exist within the dragons. Yin Release masters can combine two natures together in order to make a multi-elemental dragon or even a dragon consisting of an advanced element or CE that they know. However, in doing so they will only be able to create two dragons.
Note: Can only be used 2 times per battle.
The full, quote is
"Once the Hungry Ghost is released, its tether is immediate and cannot be blocked or circumvented by ordinary means."
Which is then followed in the notes by
"Surges or Barriers that utilize Yin, Yang, Yin-Yang or Natural Energy can break or prevent the tethering of the Hungry Ghost."
Which sets the precedence that surges or barriers that utilize Yin, Yang, Yin-Yang or Natural energy can break, or prevent the tethering. Making those mentioned methods outside of the "ordinary means" that cannot break or prevent them. I figured that'd make Sage Mode a candidate for that because it is a surge in Natural Energy in the same way that a Sage Transformation user passively absorbing Natural Energy or using it to undergo a transformation is a surge of Natural Energy. Which explains their B rank genjutsu immunity in our RP, because their chakra is constantly spiked and surged by Natural Energy.
Moving on, I don't really have any questions for Great Phantom Dragons. It's basically, Yin's version of the Yamata no Orochi with its own benefits and restrictions. Each dragon has the absorption properties of the Hungry Ghost technique "when the user’s technique clashes with another technique, the parasitic Yin Chakra will eat away at the chakra within the technique, weakening it by one rank" the user can only use two of them at a time but can create up to five depending on the elements they choose to make them of. They cannot use Yang Release or elemental techniques that the dragons are made out of while maintaining the. It can also be used twice vs the Yamata no Orochi's once per battle.
Actually thinking about it, I do have a question. In the theoretical case that Great Phantom Dragons at its full 120 damage potential clashes with a Yamata no Orochi at its full 120 damage potential the Great Phantom Dragons would win out due to it's draining properties?
