X-men is an overall better franchise than Captain America imo and this is one of my favorite X-men storylines. so im hyped and expect it to be good, gonna see asap
I loved all the small characters they quickly introduced as well. It made me want more. They really made Quicksilver OP. Loved Magneto, hopefully he's that powerful in future films.Well I agree. I liked X-Men more than Civil War.
I like the X-Men characters more.
Charles and Magneto are really good.
Yes, she makes a important appearance. You'll enjoy it, trust me.What nade the film so good?? Also, i heard the Phoenix is in ot; is this true? And if so was there a battle between the Phoenix and Apocalypse??
Only 7/10??i liked the end credit.Mr sinister :snick:
the new X men were good.Evan peters as Quicksilver was godly again
Michael Fassbender was just awesome.
7 or 7.5 /10 as a whole
Most of your critics stem from the inconsistency from that of the comics/cartoon. That's where I think most people go wrong. Appreciate the film for its own original story with characters we just so happen to be familiar with. The comparison of the spotlight being on JL is understandable, not a fan of her and I loved the previous role of Mystique. However, that didn't ruin anything for me, we kind get the chance to see other characters play more combative/actions scenes than the same ole Mystique/Wolverine show down. Also, we can't say she won't use her true form, her character in the film was used to motive and help dictate the actions of other mutants. Honestly, she wasn't shown that much throughout the film.But...it's literally as if Singer doesn't care.
They've Hugh Jackman'd Jennifer Laurence and now bc of star power Mystique's character arc means nothing because now rather than 'Mutant and Proud' she's 'a kinda popular celebrity' so now her character will never be in her true form.
It was such a clusterf*ck of a story that nobody really got the spotlight and complete aspects of previous films have been...forgotten? Mystique was Stryker in DoFP but somehow in this film that detail has just changed back? Now Wolverine is in Weapon X anyway in a twist that makes no sense.
It was a very fun power rangers episode with some cool 80s iconography but when a director cares so little about not just the source content but also...his own films? Hard to call it praise-worthy. That said it was a lot of fun. I can't call it a good film but i'm glad I saw it. Superhero blockbusters are just like 3 hours chunks of miscellaneous superhero 'stuff' at this point. Iconography & fanservice with no real driving plot behind it. Glad you liked it though.
Civil War > Deadpool >>>>>> Xmen > BvS

No, it was Jlaw that didn't want to wear that make-up due to it making vomit. And they gave a reason for her not to walk around blue all the time within the film. They've Hugh Jackman'd Jennifer Laurence and now bc of star power Mystique's character arc means nothing because now rather than 'Mutant and Proud' she's 'a kinda popular celebrity' so now her character will never be in her true form.
Its an ensemble cast movie. It was such a clusterf*ck of a story that nobody really got the spotlight
Dude, 10 years have past since DoFP. All Mystique did was save Logan from the lake.and complete aspects of previous films have been...forgotten? Mystique was Stryker in DoFP but somehow in this film that detail has just changed back? Now Wolverine is in Weapon X anyway in a twist that makes no sense.
No, this was vastly superior to BvS.It was a very fun power rangers episode with some cool 80s iconography but when a director cares so little about not just the source content but also...his own films? That's what you get in an ensemble cast mate.It was such a clusterf*ck of a story that nobody really got the spotlight and complete aspects of previous films have been...forgotten?
The film showed Stryker being enthralled by the mutants, the REAL Stryker. You think in the ten year gap between DoFP and X-Men: A, that Mystique just stayed Stryker and the real Stryker never returned to his military bases and career?Mystique was Stryker in DoFP but somehow in this film that detail has just changed back? Now Wolverine is in Weapon X anyway in a twist that makes no sense.
I'm going to watch it again!!i agree. this was the best hero movie thus far for me.
-only one with a true villain
-stuck to a central plot
-awesome action
-BEST CAMEO
-Great foreshadowing
-Feel good movie-mr. sinister
-dark phoenix
[I enjoyed civil war, bvs, and deadpool. But this takes the cake]
What didn't you enjoy about the film? After finally seeing the film...lol no, not even. While more personally enjoyable than BvS, I'd say this was just as bad film-wise. Not even close to Civil War.
The mental plane battle was a huge miss. A lot of it felt kind of bogged down, the relationship between Erik and Charles was just repetitive in the themes, Apocalypse kinda didn't make sense. I feel like there's only a handful of scenes that are actually really good.I'm going to watch it again!!
What didn't you enjoy about the film?
"Mental plane battle" I'm assuming you're referring to the plot itself? If so, it's not hard to grasp, as it's the same story with most films. The plan to destroy/change the world. The Erik and Charles relationship has always been like this, thru the cartoon series, etc. if anything, it was less significant, as Charles was more focused on his school. They had little to no interaction if you really think about it. Apocalypse origin? What exactly? The mental plane battle was a huge miss. A lot of it felt kind of bogged down, the relationship between Erik and Charles was just repetitive in the themes, Apocalypse kinda didn't make sense. That was the point. Singer was intentionally making a parallel arc of what Erik had in First Class, but with the opposite end result(Erik going down a good path) to complete what was set-up in DoFP. He was trying to be poetic because this is the closing chapter of the Magneto vs Xavier struggle.the relationship between Erik and Charles was just repetitive in the themes,
I assume you are talking about his plan. Its more clear on a second viewing.Apocalypse kinda didn't make sense.
The closing of the Magneto vs Xavier struggle in the prequel movies should have been, in this movie, Erik and Charles accepting that their views are different. Three movies of "Erik there's good in you" is terrible writing. "Erik you don't have to do this" is shitty writing when he's been doing this for three movies. There comes a point where Charles realizes that Erik can't be swayed, there's a point where he realizes that Erik simply must be stopped. Three movies and 20 years of not realizing that is awful, awful writing. That was the point. Singer was intentionally making a parallel arc of what Erik had in First Class, but with the opposite end result(Erik going down a good path) to complete what was set-up in DoFP. I got his plan the first time. The powers of Apocalypse don't make sense. It's a common trope by now, but it's still one of bad writing. A being with near unlimited power, and yet he can't finish off people in certain situations. For example, when he finds Erik, he sinks the entire factory staff in an instant below the ground with their arms sticking out. When he finds Storm, he has one man's entire body be assimilated into a wall right away with no effort. He can tear apart and atomize entire buildings and cities and cars with his mind. And yet, when Mystique, Quicksilver, Erik, Storm and Scott are directing attacks at him, he struggles. He can't atomize them like he did entire buildings in one swoop. He only has a part of the ground wrap around QS' leg instead of instantly shoving everyone underground like he did the factory workers. He throws Scott into a wall and covers him from head to toe with the stone so he suffocates, right? Wrong. He covers his chest and arms and leaves his head exposed...for some reason instead of killing him.I assume you are talking about his plan. Its more clear on a second viewing.
He did gave up on Erik after the events of First Class. He didn't gain his faith in him back until the end of Days of Future. Xavier probably didn't see it as his fault since he was under Apoc's influence. There are subtle hints in the film that Apocalypse has superhuman persuasion and Singer months ago mentioned that he uses this on the horsemen. Its more apparent on the second viewing. It's only worse that they actually appear buddy buddy by the end of the movie when Erik has helped him kill a ton of people by that point, and they're just chilling having the same conversation AGAIN.
I don't think its bad writing, but that Apocalypse just can't turn organic matter into dust. Everything he turned into dust was inorganic objects. We never actually see him do this to people at all. Just like how Magneto can only control metal.I got his plan the first time. The powers of Apocalypse don't make sense. It's a common trope by now, but it's still one of bad writing.
