You raise a good point. This is probably the most important point because we've been told both things by the manga (which is what makes this argument possible). We've been told that Danzo and the anbu could have wiped them out themselves implying it was a simple task. We've also been told what you just said. It's conflicting in the manga so arguing any further for any of us is probably pointless because everyone is right
