Hmmm as you know this is a widely discussed topic in the military area and parts of social life, whether women should be allowed in the front lines in battle.
Now there nay Sayers of this topic say
that men are physically better for front lines. For example I recall this woman who had a article in one of the magazines (time magazine i believe) said, that the physical testing for the Marines was too high for women, and not only that but physical expectations for women in army are also low. And that is the reason she failed the testing. However, whats intriguing about this was that over 20 men also failed the test.
Furthermore there have been talks about lowering the expectations, qualifications, for women to join the Marines (Elite combat group)... and many are saying it is justifiable.
And then there are soldiers who say that when it comes to missions, sometimes their proirity has to switch from their mission, to saving their commander or group leader because she is a female. Now its not as simple as " oh they can just leave her and continue on to doing their mission".. problem is that when women are captured it just doesn't mean automatic Fatality... it means rape and many other things along with it. And men soldiers have to bear that in mind.
Another argument for the nay sayers is the thing about "periods" and etc and the materials for it. For example, having a seperate "laterine" for the female. And so on.
The arguments for them being on the front lines are the same as others.
- Should be allowed for equality in gender
- Women can do anything men can
- Military is being prejudice.
And you know furthermore.
So now those are the arguments.. which side do you take? what is your take on this matter?
