Only question about the 1st is:
Why are there so many variations of this jutsu, since there is the previous jutsu? are they supposed to be more focused, given they are aiming in only one direction?

Second jutsu:
what is the size of the tornado? would it affect a giant summon of the size of Gamabunta?
1) Because there are also variations of other jutsus too. For example, if the opponent sent a horizontal whirlwind towards you, you couldn't defend with a vertical version, as it would just cut/pass through it. That's why there are horitontal and vertical techniques, and when defending, you are trying to match the opposing jutsu, most of the time. Kenjutsu, for example, is the opposite. If the opponent attacks you horizontally, you place your sword vertically, in order to block it. Hope you get the point.

2) Nah, I wouldn't say so. It says "minor" in the description, and according to this picture, it's just slightly bigger than an average human, enough to envelop him and do its job.

(Fūton: Kaze Gaeshi) - Wind Style: Wind Return
Rank: B
Type:Supplementary/Attack
Range:Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40 (+5 if attack is send back)
Description: This technique is used to counter a Wind attack launched against the user. Originally used by Kujaku in conjunction with her sword, the user will need to perform a series of handseals to amplify chakra and then he will split the incoming Wind attack and take control of the whirling vortex thrown at him, in order to re direct it towards the opponent.
Note: It can block only up to B rank wind jutsu.

Simple as the description says. It's intended use is to counter wind jutsus up to B rank (included) and it needs a few handseals. The problem with these "adopted" type of jutsu are that they aren't precise regarding handseals and always state a series or some, so I don't know how much. However, saying a series will suffice. It basically splits the incoming technique and by taking control of them, shapes it into a great whirling vortex which you then send back at the opponent.

(Fūton: Mugen Sajin Daitoppa) - Wind Style: Infinte Sand Great Break Through
Rank: B
Type:Attack
Range:Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:20
Damage Points:40
Description: Originally Gaara's technique, for other characters the user will have to gather the dust or sand of the environment around him and then combine it with his elemental wind affinity. A large wind gust with dust or sand will get created capable to push away the opponent or medium sized objects.

Very simple and great technique. If you want to distract the opponent and create an opening, then this is the way to do it. Let's say the opponent attacks you with a small fireball or a kunai. You can use this technique to repel the incoming projectile and you also pick up dust form the ground. This would effectively block your opponents vision and enable you to strike him from behind the dust-screen.

the wind return:
So, the jutsu itself transforms, it is not as if I send back both my jutsu and the original jutsu of the user, right?

Infinte Sand Great Break Through:
If used against a fire jutsu, could the sand neutralise the weakness of the wind towards the fire? If used against a sand jutsu, would it turn the sand back to the user?
