I mean...just look at him he has the most generic protagonist destine EVER he looks like he could be from one of those poorly done western animes that play in the mornings.

Not only that but the plot itself seems generic as well A sons dream to follow his fathers footsteps to become a Hunter...like why is this even a thing?

You cannot judge it by its appearance

The plot isn't "he's following his fathers foosteps" Its him becoming a hunter in general. Not like a animal hunter but in HxH world Hunters are like shinobi. They take on many different roles like medical hunters and such. The main story has almost nothing to do with being a hunter. The majority of the characters arent even hunters. Its not hunting like you know it. further in the story the characters need to master a power called nen which is similar to chakra in Naruto.
Only one arc is spent trying to find gons dad who is mysterious and elusive so Its not like it's easy.
The story is great and its suspenseful every episode. Honestly you havent even scratched the surface with your analysis.
Its really good and you should try it. You might like it more than Magi

Its my second favorite after Naruto

Although the anime does look like it is for children, this anime is far to gruesome and real to be for children.
Gon is so much more than his character design. I have to admit he looked a silly little kid who's ball haven't even dropped yet but as you go deeper in the anime. You realize you were wrong.

Hunter x Hunter is so damn underrated, it's not even funny. I went through some emotional stuff watching this anime.


This anime is hugely mistaken for something "childish" but it has more blood and gore than Naruto itself.
Hunter x Hunter has much depth to it than people think.
I would write up a book why it's a worth it and is underrated but you know...
niqqa got chores.

You're the perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover. HxH is crazy good and it gets dark. Very dark. The creator knows what he's doing and makes great story arcs, same guy who made yu yu Hakusho.

But continue on with your ignorance if you can't even get past a simple character design.
