[Discussion] Why is Hunter X Hunter so popular?

You might criticise the character design as you've only seen images of the characters. However, I'll say just this. Watch the anime, and after a while, you'll find yourself getting attached to characters(even Gon).

The fighting system is probably the best I've seen(better than chakra, reiatsu, and devil fruits and all the other stuff out there); as such, the action is honestly epic. The villains are enthralling, and the protagonists even more so.

The plot may seem stale and dull at first, but you'll soon find that as you progress further, that it's really exciting and addictive. I myself finished the first 92 episodes in 2 days

ive tried reading hunterxhunter & i just cant get into it gon doesn't seem to have any personality also i hated how the fight with hanzo the rules were clearly designed to let gon win

Kinda late, but I would say the reason a lot of people like it is because it's like a strong combination of One Piece and Naruto. Gon looked like a little Luffy when I started the series. I personally liked the 90's version better than the 2011, the only advantage I see in 2011 is it made it further in the story. Gon's hair looks ridiculous in the 2011 version idk why.

Although the anime does look like it is for children, this anime is far to gruesome and real to be for children.
Gon is so much more than his character design. I have to admit he looked a silly little kid who's ball haven't even dropped yet but as you go deeper in the anime. You realize you were wrong.

You know what that is? That's goddamn head ripped off the torso petted like a goddamn animal but a giant cat-mouse.

Hunter x Hunter is so damn underrated, it's not even funny. I went through some emotional stuff watching this anime.


This anime is hugely mistaken for something "childish" but it has more blood and gore than Naruto itself.
Hunter x Hunter has much depth to it than people think.
I would write up a book why it's a worth it and is underrated but you know...
